Chapter 308: Overly Dramatic

This heartfelt confession immediately piqued everyone's curiosity. Were they not supposed to be indifferent?

Ines had been shrewd only once, but unfortunately, it was at the worst possible time. Learning about her situation left her heartbroken, leading her to break up with Aiden. Therefore, Yvonne's mention of Ines's crying and dropping out of school referred to the end of her relationship with Aiden. Aiden, in turn, had sacrificed everything to remain by Ines's side.

The Quirk family breathed a collective sigh of relief. Their love story had been a rollercoaster, especially hard on the young couple. But waitโ€”who did Yvonne say she'd slept with? Could Aiden, heartbroken and intoxicated, have mistaken Yvonne for Ines? Was the situation truly that clichรฉd?

Alexander reacted swiftly. Isabella had previously revealed crucial information: Aiden had only ever loved Ines. Therefore, regardless of Yvonne's eloquence, Aiden had never been intimate with her.

Isabella seemed to think the same, unable to contain her commentary. Although Yvonne wasn't in his memories of studying abroad, Aiden's first formal introduction to her was as his stepmother. Therefore, this aunt-nephew misunderstanding likely stemmed from Yvonne mistaking someone else for Aiden again. Incredibly, did she mistake every man for him? It's beyond ridiculous! Fortunately, Ines was easily appeased. Aiden had repeatedly demonstrated his dislike of children to Ines, explaining his earlier agreement as a misunderstanding. This didn't bother him; he preferred a life with only Ines and feared a child might compete for her affection. His charm easily pacified Ines, and they resumed their blissful, albeit foolish, romance. The Deleon family's hesitation regarding the marriage stemmed from their reservations. They'd made repeated concessions to the Burke family, aware of the Burkes' belief in the fortune of many sons and the importance of blood ties. However, if Aiden truly wanted to be with Ines, adoption would be their only option for children.

The Quirk family considered the Deleon family reliable.

Alexander speculated that if the Burke family discovered the truth, they would object to the relationship. No wonder Aiden and Ines had spent so much time abroadโ€”to escape the Burkes' control.

The Deleon family were honest people. What benefit was there in assisting the Burke family, especially given Aiden's strained relationship with them? Knowing Aiden's sacrifices for Ines, they'd likely praise the Burkes. They should be reminded of this later, to prevent them from being taken advantage of.

The Quirks nodded in agreement with Isabella's comments.

Taken aback, Alexander was stunned. He listened intently to his wife, grasping the implication. What did she mean by "knowing what Aiden did for Ines"? Had Aiden done something unknown to others? Isabella didn't elaborate, so no one heard this thought.

Yvonne, seemingly on the verge of tears, voiced her grievances. Her budding romance with Aiden had been continually suppressed, causing her great distress.

"After he left, I tried to contact him, but my attempts were met with silence. I even worked at Burke Corporation hoping to see him again. Fate played a cruel trick; Ralph took a liking to me, and my parents used me to their advantage. I couldn't be openly with Aiden. Despite this, I couldn't let him go. I wanted him to be happy, even if it wasn't with me. So I suppressed my feelings and played the role of his stepmother, pretending not to know him."

Elijah listened, stunned. Yvonne's sincerity convinced him. He hadn't realized his nephew harbored such a secret, watching his father marry his former love.

He even dared to sleep with a woman who was already his stepmother, resulting in a child. Their plan to maintain this relationship was audacious.

"I always thought this kid was rebellious, but I never expected this!" Elijah ranted, seemingly forgetting (The passage cuts off here)
