Chapter 327: It Was You
Aiden glared resentfully at Yvonne. "How was I to know?" he exclaimed. "Her so-called 'young love' story is nothing but her one-sided fantasy! I have absolutely nothing to do with her! And yet, I was deceived by her fantasy. How incredibly unlucky!" Since he had presented all the evidence, further denial was pointless.
Unable to bear the pressure, Elijah turned to Ralph. "Iโฆ Iโฆ You can't blame this on me! You heard it. I was so drunk I didn't know what was happening. When someone climbed into my bed, how was I supposed to know who it was? I was completely dragged into this. This woman wanted to set Aiden up, and I ended up caught in your family's affairs. Who did I offend to deserve this?"
His eyes reddened with the injustice. An affair with his sister-in-law was a scandal he would carry for life. "But I'm innocent! I was just minding my own business when I was unexpectedly drawn into this controversy."
The onlookers, initially shocked, now felt Elijah was an innocent victim. The truth was out: Yvonne was the culprit.
Ralph was beside himself with rage. "Not only did my wife set her sights on my son," he roared, "but she had an affair with my younger brother! If not for the pregnancy loss, I would have raised a child that wasn't mine! I've never endured such a gross insult!"
Initially drained, he suddenly sprang up, his expression fierce. He punched Elijah, then swiftly kicked Yvonne, who slumped to the ground. The force sent her nearly flying, demonstrating his unrestrained fury.
Elijah fell silent, playing the victim after the beating. Yvonne, however, struggled to her feet, neither begging nor arguing. Seeming to be in a trance, she lunged at Aiden.
He dodged, Ines safely in his arms. Yvonne knocked over a table, her wild screams cutting through the chaos. "No, it wasn't anyone else! It was you! It was you every time, and my child was yours! You just don't want to admit it. You're still concerned about the marriage alliance. You don't dare to fall out with the Deleon family, you're bound by familial obligations. That's why you can't admit your feelings for me!"
Aiden was speechless. Even now, she remained in denial.
Alexander sneered inwardly. Yvonne had long known Aiden's feelings for Ines. The most telling evidence: when she initially framed Ines for her miscarriage, she didn't expose Ines and ruin the families' relationship. Instead, she hid the truth and tried to get pregnant again. She knew Aiden wouldn't leave Ines, so she pursued personal gain. She was a master of self-deception, an obsessed woman.
Naturally, no one believed Yvonne.
Aiden looked disgusted. "Can you stop being so narcissistic? Everyone knows I've only loved one personโInes. She's the only one I'll ever marry. Iโ"
Before he could finish, Yvonne blurted out, "You've been deceived, Aiden! You've been tricked! I'm telling you, the truth isโ"
Events unfolded too quickly for anyone to react. They sensed a major revelation was imminent.
Then, a cry interrupted everything.
"Ah!"
All eyes turned to Isabella. Her breathing was rapid, her heart racing. It's not that I wanted to interrupt, but this woman is truly malicious. I can't believe she wanted to publicly reveal that Ines is unable to conceive. She thinks that if that information is made public, Aiden won't marry a woman who can't bear children and will change his mind. Or, at the very least, she wanted to make the Burkes reject Ines.
The Quirks, initially wondering about Isabella's actions, were instantly infuriated. How can there be such a woman who can't stand to see others doing well?
