Chapter 383: Completely Clueless

Although Sarah had arranged for public relations to manage online public opinion, controlling discussions among university students in forums and group chats proved difficult. Alexander, deep in thought, received a message from Isabella inquiring about the situation.

He replied, "We're currently investigating. Rest assured, we've already arranged for someone to gather evidence. Handling this matter won't be difficult."

Indeed, it wouldn't be. If the Quirk family were framed so clumsily, it would be laughable. Even after Penelope edited the video and audio files and erased the originals, they could still be recovered. With evidence of Penelope's infatuation added, the truth would soon emerge.

"The challenge lies in managing the subsequent public opinion," Alexander earnestly explained to Isabella, ensuring she was the first to know.

After what seemed like forever, there was no reply. Alexander added, "Were you called away immediately? Have you eaten anything?"

Still no response. Worried, Alexander asked Christopher to prepare food and drinks for any visitors.

Christopher, engrossed in browsing the internet, was instantly exasperated by his brother's command but obediently went to a nearby shop.

Soon, Alexander received a message from Isabella: "There are quite a number of reporters at the door."

"Remember to put on your masks before you come in," Alexander reminded them.

Isabella replied, "I suddenly have a daring idea"

Another group then entered the police station. The staff assumed they were more Quirk family relativesโ€”a large clan, so this was expected and unremarkable. Coincidentally, Christopher returned at the same time.

After Isabella arrived, Alexander gently reminded her to eat. Isabella had forgotten she hadn't eaten since waking up; her adrenaline had been surging.

"How far have we progressed?" she asked.

by Penelope's audacious actions.

The results revealed a crowd of students and teachers with varied expressions. Skeptical glances made Carlos feel absurd. However, some students expressed their trust.

Isabella spotted someone important: Sylvie. "Sylvie? She's here too? A living witness! I need to prove nothing. I'll have to reveal the truth about last night. This could be tricky. Thankfully, the police only asked about Carlos's relationship with Penelope. I honestly told them Penelope liked Carlos. But what if they ask what I was doing last night? She might not dare to lie."

Carlos briefly spoke with classmates, including Sylvie. His attitude was clear; Sylvie's expression shifted slightly. She seemed to realize Carlos didn't remember the previous night, making her even more reluctant to reveal anything. She probably wished it never happened.

"Ah, she's looking this way. Is she looking at the Quirk family? Oh, she must think the Quirks can handle this, and it's best not to reveal last night's events to avoid their affairs being posted online again. If that happens, the issue will become even more muddled."

The Quirks glanced back and forth between Sylvie and Carlosโ€”one completely clueless, the other convincingly acting.

Alexander considered Sylvie's hesitation sensible. With another mentor-student relationship, public opinion might not be favorable. Even if Sylvie admitted spending the night with Carlos, how could it be proven?

Amidst the chaos, Penelope burst forth, crying and accusing Carlos: "It was you! You ruined my life! You tried to force me! How dare you deny it and slander me? I can't live anymore!" Everyone was taken aback. Penelope seemed unhinged, like someone provoked after being bullied. This made those who believed in Carlos waver.

I have corrected grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure throughout the passage. I have also combined similar sentences and broken up long, unwieldy ones for better readability. I've maintained the original tone and informal style where appropriate. The chapter title has also been standardized.
