Chapter 397: Defending Janice
Everyone knew Carlos was from the Quirk Group, but his presence to defend Janice was perplexing.
A classmate, angrily rising from the ground, shouted, "What are you doing?"
Christopher coldly replied, "Stay there. Don't come closer, or I'll hurt you."
The boy, intimidated by Christopher's hostility and unaware of his identity, remained silent.
"You're Mr. Carlos? Why are you?" someone exclaimed in surprise.
Carlos glared at the crowd. "You're bullying a classmate!"
Several students, startled, feigned innocence. "We're not! We're just disciplining a bad student." "Mr. Carlos, she's terrible. She steals things." "We're just making her return what she stole!"
"Do you have any evidence?" Rosalie demanded, her anger evident.
"Yes, a classmate lost a bracelet that looks exactly like hers"
Before the speaker finished, a voice called from a distance, "Janice, what are you doing?"
Silence fell as the crowd turned to see a boy approaching with a cold expression. A whisper circulated: "Cody's here. He's probably not here to support Janice."
Isabella and others, witnessing Cody's arrival and hearing the whispers, stared in disbelief. Wasn't that the guy seen kissing someone passionately in the woods? Isabella thought. Cody was with Cecilia! They came here together. Knowing Carlos, Cody must be trying to control the situation while Cecilia watches from afar! The bracelet incident, Isabella realized, was likely staged. Christopher and Rosalie already glared fiercely at Cody.
Cody, unfamiliar with Christopher and Rosalie, recognized Carlos from a previous encounter. Knowing he was Janice's boyfriend, Carlos might have trusted him. However, Carlos's opinion of Cody had completely shattered, not only due to his infidelity but also his actions and the accusations.
Chapter 397: Defending Janice (Continued)
Carlos couldn't understand why a Quirk family member would be bullied, or why her boyfriend didn't protect her. Given their status, controlling the school should be easy, shouldn't it?
Cody maintained a facade, nodding at Carlos. "Carlos, you're here. Thanks for looking after her." He then roughly tried to pull Janice away from Carlos and Rosalie. His actions were impatient and ungentle. He pulled her, saying, "Did you cause trouble again? Can't you behave? Why do you always stir up trouble? Look at the state you're in. Come with me now."
"Hold on! With us here, when did it become your turn to take Janice away?"
Isabella, putting away her phone, walked through the crowd and delivered a sharp karate chop to Cody's arm, forcing him to release his grip.
Cody's face darkened. "We can discuss this later. Janice needs to change her clothes." He glared at Janice. Usually, a stern look would make her comply, but this time, she remained unmoved.
Hah, the scoundrel's panicking, Isabella thought. Is Carlos's presence the reason he wants to take Janice away? Is he afraid of others discovering Janice's family connection? Hiding her identity wasn't just Dylan's idea; Cody was involved too. Why did he allow others to bully her? It was all with his tacit consent. They're experts at thisโletting her get bullied while keeping her identity secret!
