Listen to this chapter:

Everyone's eyes excitedly turned toward Rosalie's phone.

"What a bombshell!"

"Hold on, why does she sound so confident? Could it be true? I want to see, but what if it taints my sight? Stillโ€ฆ I want to look!"

The Quirk family members stared at Rosalie in disbelief. She did, in fact, have surveillance equipment in her home studio. Madeline knew about Rosalie's habit, but hadn't expected her to use it in their humble rental house. As Rosalie unlocked her phone, Madeline's mind raced. Panicked, she lunged forward to snatch it. Alexander stepped in front of Madeline, but Dominic seized the opportunity to rush toward Rosalie.

Before he could reach the phone, Rosalie swiftly withdrew her hand and slapped Dominic across the face. Caught off guard, he stumbled backward. Another slap followed, leaving everyone dumbfounded. The shock momentarily paralyzed Alexander, allowing Madeline to lunge forward.

"Who gave you the right to hit Dom!" she shouted.

Rosalie responded with two more resounding slaps, one on each of Madeline's cheeks. Silence fell as everyone stared at the red handprints on Dominic and Madeline's faces. The campus belle, the goddess, the naive sweetheart who'd been deceived, the delicate damselโ€”had just delivered four resounding slaps.

"Indeed, being let down by scum can really make a person grow. Youth is priceless, so go ahead and give that jerk a good slap! I applaud you for that!"

Isabella applauded, and to her surprise, others joined in, whistling and shouting praise. As Madeline and Dominic stared, dumbfounded, Rosalie said, with a melancholic yet mocking smile, "I was merely tricking you, but I appreciate your guilty conscience proving it for me." Uproarious laughter filled the room.

Madeline and Dominic glared at Rosalie, seething with rage. Before they could react, Brian and Kendra rushed forward. Brian punched his stepson, Dominic, then kicked him repeatedly.

"Damn it, you actually dared to sleep with my daughter! I brought you and your mother into my home, and this is how you repay me! You're truly heartless and ungrateful!"

Kendra grabbed Madeline's hair and slapped her repeatedly.

"You little wretch, you must have seduced my son! How else could he have done such a thing? It's all because of you, you shameless creature! You're just like your mother! You've brought disgrace upon our family!"

"Dad, don't hit Dom! Dom, save me!" Madeline cried.

"Mom, don't hit my woman! Let go, you old fart!" Dominic yelled.

The four were entangled in a chaotic brawl. The once-united Quirk family retreated to avoid the spectacle. The office staff, while eager to watch, knew they would be responsible for any fallout.

"This is where we process exchange student applications. If you're short on cash, find a way to get it. The deadline is 6 p.m. tonight. Don't cause a scene here, or I'll call security," the staff member warned sternly.

This brought the family back to reality. A heated argument erupted over Madeline's study abroad opportunity and the family's house. Brian and Kendra argued fiercely, Dominic watching with frustrated inaction.

Suddenly, Rosalie showed Madeline a text message: "Actually, your brother secretly went on several dates with me behind your back, and he asked me not to tell you."

Isabella, standing behind Rosalie, also saw the message. Madeline's expression changed dramatically. Pale-faced, she grasped Dominic's hand.

"Dom, no matter what, let me leave the country first. If I stay, we'll both be the subject of relentless gossip. This opportunity won't come easily again, so please, hold Mom back."

Dominic shook his head. "If you go abroad, what will happen to me? I'll be the subject of everyone's scorn too. Furthermore, if the house is sold for you, what about my future? You're not planning to run away and leave me behind, are you?"

"Dom, don't you trust me? How could I possiblyโ€”"

"You're craftier than anyone else. How am I supposed to trust youโ€”"

Their argument exposed their conflicting interests. Rosalie's message had ignited Madeline's doubt in Dominic's feelings. Isabella, remembering a previous encounter with Christopher, believed Rosalie's message. Dominic's secretive behavior confirmed his dishonesty. His feelings for Madeline paled in comparison to the novelty and bragging rights of dating Rosalie.

Eventually, security was called to remove the family. The farcical episode ended.

Rosalie had left paintings at the rental house. Dominic initially refused to return them, resorting to bullying, but Alexander called the police. Rosalie wept all the way home, clutching her paintings.

The Campos family's dispute culminated in Brian selling their house cheaply to fund Madeline's studies. Madeline promised to repay her father by selling her paintings. Brian waited for her success, while Dominic and Kendra remained estranged.

The next day, Madeline received a call: her university spot had been revoked. The Campos family faced financial ruin. Dominic and Kendra reveled in their misfortune, but their excessive joy brought sorrow. Dominic was injured, draining their remaining funds. They could barely afford a small, run-down place. Madeline, unable to endure the campus gossip, dropped out of university. Their whereabouts remained unknown.

Christopher recounted the events to Rosalie, prompting her to muse, "Could it really be true that what goes around comes around?"

Christopher was about to agree when he heard Isabella's inner thoughts: "Of course not. It was your father and brothers who stepped in as the champions of justice. Why should the virtuous Quirk family have to endure the whims of these petty individuals? That would be far too suffocating. Power should be wielded when it's necessary, to remind them of their place and not to get too big for their boots."

Rosalie smiled. That evening, she apologized to her family for her foolishness. Isabella considered Rosalie's quick recovery from her romantic woes. The Quirk family feigned coughs to mask their awkwardness.

Rosalie, admiring Isabella, asked Alexander what Isabella liked as a thank you gift. Alexander almost revealed Isabella's monetary gifts but then overheard Rosalie's musing about Isabella's past feelings for Alexander and was stunned into silence.

Rosalie, still unsure what to give Isabella, turned to Evian, who revealed that Isabella was now more interested in money. Having just experienced a difficult romance, Rosalie considered Isabella wise. Evian agreed. Isabella later received a bank transfer from Rosalie with a note: "I'm grateful that you ordered takeout for me; it really helped me clear my head. This is a token of my appreciation. Thank you, Bella." The amount was over two million.
