Chapter 84: Listening to Gossip in the Restroom

The sound of the closing partition door was muted by the club's ambient music, surprising Alexander. Isabella immediately pinned him against the door, her body pressing close. One hand covered his mouth; the other shushed him. Alexander's eyes widened, his dark lashes quivering. His usual intimidating aura had vanished. His eyes, normally sparkling like stars, were now vacant and unresisting. He stared helplessly. In that moment, he seemed a newly formed male spirit—alluring, pure, and radiating an indescribable magnetism.

This sight dazzled Isabella only briefly. Gossip, it seemed, had presented itself. Nothing was more important.

Excited, Isabella peered through the crack in the door. In her eagerness for a better view, she pressed against Alexander, their bodies nearly touching. Alexander's pupils constricted, overwhelmed by the scent of alcohol and perfume wafting from Isabella. A blush crept onto his face.

Isabella wore a snug tracksuit. Despite its casualness, her figure was alluring and graceful as she leaned against Alexander. He felt the warmth radiating from her body through his shirt, making him feel stifled and uneasy. He realized his arm was around her waist, increasing his tension.

From Alexander's perspective, his gaze followed Isabella's elegant neck and shoulders, resting on her waist where his arm lay. Another curve crossed over his arm.

Feeling awkward, Alexander lowered his arm and tried to turn away from Isabella's hand on his lips. But her focus on the crack prevented her from releasing him. He could only let her have her way.

Only then did he understand Isabella's excitement. They weren't here for handsome men; they were here for gossip.

A classically beautiful woman with raven hair and porcelain skin burst in, wearing a traditional gown and white high heels.

"So this is Mirabelle? She's beautiful, a second-tier actress. I've seen her dramas. She's perfect for playing pitiful, bullied characters, which is why she's popular. Even dating Hendrick didn't hurt her with his fans." Mirabelle's eyes were red and swollen; her face showed a lost expression, as if on the verge of tears. She paced in circles.

A door opened. Startled, Mirabelle spun around. "H-How could you come in here? This is the ladies' restroom!" she stammered.

As the other person approached, Mirabelle retreated until she hit a wall.

"No, no Even though this is entertaining, I really want to vent. If she wanted to hide, she could have gone into a stall! It has a lock!"

Mirabelle found herself cornered by a tall man—Maverick, whose fans claimed he possessed an overpowering celestial charm. His eyes were faintly red, but he remained silent.

"This atmosphere… it's overly dramatic! It's like a soap opera. When exes meet, it's always tears or awkwardness!"

Observing Isabella's excitement, Alexander wanted to express his displeasure but couldn't. He could only grumble inwardly: "They're in a soap opera, and we're eavesdropping. Are we in a spy drama?"

"Wait, is that all? No one else is coming?" Alexander thought. "Do you still want to hold a meeting in the bathroom?"

"Wait a minute, where are her current boyfriend and manager? Aren't they afraid something might happen?"

Alexander found this odd. What kind of boyfriend is so inattentive? "Wait, Hendrick is taking care of Danielle? How did that happen?"

"So that's it. Before Danielle arrives, Maverick responds to Hendrick and Mirabelle with silence. If he's not interested, why bother coming?"

Alexander's mouth twitched. "Right, you didn't want to, so why come at all? He blamed Maverick for mobilizing his entire family."

Hendrick was persistent; Mirabelle wanted to refuse but was at a loss until Danielle arrived.

"Seriously, what on earth is Hendrick thinking? Did he send Danielle the coordinates? Is he setting up a scene?"

Before Danielle could speak, Mirabelle, tearfully, expressed her unwillingness to play the supporting role. Danielle saw how preposterous Hendrick's suggestion was and rejected it.

Maverick, previously silent, spoke. "I'm siding with Dani." He belittled Mirabelle: "She doesn't deserve to stand by my side."

"Wow! That's the same line Mirabelle used when she broke up with Maverick! That's explosive!"

Humiliated, Mirabelle trembled. Hendrick didn't care, stating the company was pleased with the proposal. They were an unofficial couple, attracting attention. To compete with A-listers, they needed buzz. But Danielle remained adamant. The consequences of their past relationship being discovered were uncontrollable.

Over the past five years, any news of Mirabelle darkened Maverick's mood. It wasn't a breakdown, but he subtly used his position to create obstacles for her. Danielle saw this as a threat and preferred they not share the stage.

Alexander thought, "Danielle is a proficient manager who can effectively analyze pros and cons."

It was a pity that she and Maverick had supported each other since their humble…

The passage ends abruptly. The final sentence is incomplete.
