Chapter 86: Men Are Full of Lies

Isabella, unable to resist her curiosity, investigated the gossip surrounding Maverick and Danielle. A sound from the doorway interrupted her.

Maverick and Mirabelle separated abruptly. Mirabelle hastily wiped her mouth; Maverickโ€™s face paled. Danielle, entering with a limp, exclaimed, "What are you guys doing here? Maverick, this is the ladies' restroom!"

Danielle, impeccably dressed in a professional suit, projected strength and capability. Her expression, however, turned unreadable as she observed the pair. Maverick remained sullenly silent.

Hendrick entered, his arrival announced by a surprised, "Oh my, what brings you all here?" Tall, handsome, and radiating youthful energy, he resembled a college athlete. His concerned voice asked, "Mira, why are you crying?"

Isabella watched with interest. Alexander muttered, "So we're seriously having a meeting in the restroom?"

Mirabelle stammered, "I-I'm fine. It's a misunderstanding. I fell, and Mr. Sutton helped me." She glanced at Maverick. He watched intently as Hendrick tenderly embraced Mirabelle, inquired about her well-being, and kissed her forehead.

Maverick's murderous glare was interrupted by Danielle, who tugged him back to reality. "All right, this isn't the place to talk. Let's move," she said, frowning slightly. Hendrick agreed, suggesting they discuss the performance and proposal elsewhere, guiding Mirabelle toward the exit. Maverick retorted, "Is that so? Maybe you should ask Ms. Diaz first; she doesn't seem too keen."

Mirabelle trembled. Danielle looked at Maverick with suspicion. He knew how Mirabelle would respond. They had just kissed.

Hendrick, gently addressing Mirabelle, said, "Mira, being a supporting actress is an opportunity. And didn't you say you'd marry me? I can propose to you on national television." Maverick's gaze darkened, lingering on Mirabelle.

Mirabelle hung her head, appearing timid and unjustly treated.

Hendrick began, "Well, since you're notโ€”"

"I'm willing," Mirabelle replied, her voice lacking conviction. Only then did she look up, glaring resentfully at Maverick.

"Fantastic!" Hendrick exclaimed. He looked at Maverick, who stared grimly at Mirabelle. "Maverick, there's no problem now, right?"

Maverick retorted icily, "Hmph, Hendrick, don't push your luck. We're partners, not your stepping stones."

Danielle breathed a sigh of relief. Hendrick explained that he needed this opportunity for career advancement, claiming that otherwise, they would be overshadowed.

Danielle's concern was the potential revelation of Maverick's past relationships, which would benefit Hendrick and harm Maverick. She knew she had to reject the proposal to protect Maverick's interests. Before she could speak, Maverick shifted gears. "Proposing is out of the question. I'll play a supporting role, but I need something in return." Mirabelle reacted sharply. Maverick stared almost provocatively at her.

Hendrick asked, "What's the matter? We can discuss anything."

Maverick unexpectedly turned to Danielle, embraced her, and confessed, "Actually, I've been planning to propose to Dani soon. If I can use the stage, I'd love for us to receive nationwide blessings."

Danielle's face darkened. She remained silent. She must be cursing.

Alexander thought, Doesn't Danielle like Maverick? Hendrick's tone faltered, releasing Mirabelle. Danielle intervened, "Regarding this matter, we haven't discussed it yet. How about we talk it over first?"

Hendrick quickly ushered Mirabelle away. As soon as the door closed, Danielle pushed Maverick away, demanding, "Have you lost your mind? What are you babbling about?" A wave of daze washed over Maverick
