Chapter 180
โI am not crying anymore! And thank you, Claire.โ
Seeing her cry from joy, the people surrounding her all burst into laughter.
Chief Harlow stood with his hands behind his back, his gaze also carrying a hint of a smile. He said, โNow that so many people care about you, and I see you living well, I can be at ease.โ
โThank you!โ Josie wiped away her tears. โLetโs go, Iโll treat you to a meal!โ
โI need to return to my hometown this afternoon. I bought my ticket when I came.โ Chief Harlow waved his hand and said, โNo need to go all over the place. How about just trying the food at your school cafeteria? Is that alright?โ
Josie grinned and said, โSure thing! Wherever you want to go, Iโll go with you!โ
In the afternoon, Sean drove Chief Harlow to the train station. Josie also went along with them.
After leaving the train station, Sean drove the car to the entrance of a shopping mall. โWait for me here!โ He got out of the car in a hurry.
Josie leaned against the car window and remained still. After all, she still felt indescribable sadness in her heart.
In the past, she allowed Kyle to succeed. His admission to the research institute and Aidenโs trust were achieved by misappropriating her research achievements. He even copied her research papers.
Josie was convinced she had changed her fate and would not have to endure certain harms again. But in the end, she still underestimated Kyleโs dark side. To put it simply, he possessed no human traits.
Josie looked out the car window and saw Sean jogging into the mall. Shortly afterward, he ran out carrying a box. He was running somewhat hurriedly, as if he was in a hurry to do something. She was still clueless about his action.
The car door opened. Sean got in and placed the items he was carrying in his hand onto the back seat.
Soon, the car drove away again. When it stopped, Josie was somewhat surprised and asked, โWhat is this place?โ
โThe park.โ Sean opened the car door and stepped out. He picked up the box from the back seat, walked around the front of the car, and opened the door for Josie. โCome on out. Iโll take you somewhere!โ
Josie felt somewhat downcast, but when she met Seanโs ardent and sincere eyes, she obediently got out of the car with him.
With the New Year approaching and the weather exceptionally cold, Josie shrank her neck and hid herself in a large down jacket. Sean reached out and took her arm. โItโs not far. Weโll be there soon.โ
Having walked two to three hundred meters, Josie saw a greenhouse. โThe greenhouse in the park is used for cultivating flowers and is open to the public during winter,โ Sean explained briefly, then led Josie inside.
โWhat kind of flower do you like?โ
โHm?โ Josie looked at Sean in puzzlement.
Sean pointed toward the corridor and said, โThere are at least a dozen flower fields of different varieties along this way. Why not pick one you like to go into?โ
โThen camellias it is!โ It was the flower Josie often saw in her childhood.
Sean let out a brief laugh. โYou certainly know how to choose.โ
Holding her hand, Sean led her into the camellia flower hall.
The camellias were currently in full bloom, and the site had become the cityโs source of cultivating flowers. It offered a wide and unique selection of flowers.
โIt seems weโre in luck.โ Sean walked over to a row of vividly blooming camellias, lifted his chin slightly, and signaled for Josie to take a look.
Josie was astonished by the dozens of distinct camellia varieties before her. She had never realized that camellias encompassed such a wide range of varieties. โAre theseโฆ all camellias?โ
Sean nodded. โYes. Tamia, Swan Lake, Debbie, Lotus Fairy, Peerless Beauty, and Haizhenks.โ
โThose are their names?โ Josieโs eyes widened in delight. โThis one is my favorite. It has so many petals and looks beautiful!โ
โThe Peerless Beauty?โ Sean glanced over and remarked, โThis is a double-flowered variety. It certainly has many petals.โ
Josie looked at Sean with a look of admiration and said, โSean, I didnโt know you knew so much about flowers.โ
โPfftโฆโ Sean let out a quiet laugh.
Josie looked puzzled. โWhatโs wrong? I was speaking sincerely. Do you find it funny?โ
