Chapter 402

He looked at her with immense tenderness. โ€œYour mother entrusted you to me.

โ€œFrom now on, Jojo, I will love you. I will make you happy. Come with me!โ€

He held her in his arms, with utmost tenderness.

The village in her eyes grew smaller and smaller until it completely disappeared.

The sun slowly rose from the horizon. A ray of sunlight shone through, enveloping Josie, making her feel warm all over.

Then, Josie woke up from the heat.

She opened her eyes to meet Seanโ€™s affectionate gaze. โ€œGood morning. What do you want for breakfast? Iโ€™ll make it for you.โ€

In that moment, Josie felt reborn. She said goodbye to her past self, and her life would never be the same.

Josie felt like a princess, pampered by Sean all day. By afternoon, she found it a bit overwhelming.

She said, โ€œSean, Iโ€™m not that fragile. I can still drink water by myself.โ€

Sean retrieved the glass, and just as he was about to speak, Josieโ€™s phone rang. It was Anna.

It was Friday, and Josie had no classes. She spent the whole day at home with Sean and had forgotten to check the online news.

โ€œAnna?โ€ Josie was a bit nervous.

Annaโ€™s laughter rang out.

She said, โ€œGood news. The paperโ€™s impact after publication was even better than I expected.

โ€œProfessionals are already contacting the author. I heard they want to cite his research findings.

โ€œGiven this situation, why donโ€™t you persuade your friend to submit the materials for the competition?โ€

Josie thought, โ€˜Oh, right, how could I have forgotten about this?

โ€˜If Natalie can participate, why canโ€™t Ian?โ€™

She said, โ€œThank you, Anna. I understand. Iโ€™ll talk it over with my friend and treat you to a meal later!โ€

Anna laughed again.

She said, โ€œWhy are you being so polite? Youโ€™ve already helped me a great deal by doing the Reedshaw Groupโ€™s special topic for me.

โ€œYou often give me free acupuncture, which I truly appreciate.

โ€œWe are friends. From now on, feel free to reach out anytime you need help. Thereโ€™s no need to be so formal.โ€

โ€œOkay,โ€ Josie felt a slight urge to smile. She was a direct person who didnโ€™t mince words or waste time on pleasantries.

She said, โ€œThen I wonโ€™t be polite. Anna, if you need anything, just let me know.

โ€œYouโ€™re right, we are friends. Letโ€™s look out for each other from now on.โ€

After hanging up the phone, Josie beamed. โ€œLetโ€™s go out for dinner tonight. Itโ€™s my treat.โ€

โ€œShould we invite more people? Iโ€™ll book a private room. How about at Delicate Inn? I remember their duck is good, and you like it.โ€ Sean took out his phone.

Josie thought, โ€˜Delicate Inn? Isnโ€™t that where Natalieโ€™s celebration party is?โ€™

Josie smiled. โ€œNatalieโ€™s celebration dinner is booked there. Wouldnโ€™t it be too intentional if we went?โ€

โ€œWhich private room is she in? How about we book the one next to hers?โ€ Sean started calling without hesitation.

Josie looked amused. โ€œAre you serious? Itโ€™s this late already. You wonโ€™t be able to book a private room.โ€

โ€œDonโ€™t worry, I can book it. Just gather the people. Iโ€™ll book a large private room with two tables!โ€ Sean looked serious. He didnโ€™t seem to be joking.

Josie thought, โ€˜Alright, as long as heโ€™s happy. Besides, Ian did well on his thesis. Why shouldnโ€™t we celebrate?

โ€˜If Natalie finds this intentional, then so be it. Nobody said only Natalie gets to show off!โ€™

Josie called to invite people. Although the invitation was sudden, it was a Friday night. When people heard it was to celebrate Ianโ€™s success, they immediately agreed.

When they arrived, the attendees were enough to fill two tables.

Even Colby came with Zoey. โ€œI heard Zoey say Josie is treating, so I figured I had to come for this meal!โ€

โ€œOf course. You are surely invited!โ€ Sean ushered everyone into the private room.

Josie went to the entrance to meet Joseph and his group.

Except for Ian, the other two had companions.

Seeing Claire next to Tripp, Josie paused for a moment.

โ€œWhat are you looking at? Donโ€™t you recognize me?โ€ Claire walked up and linked arms with her.

She said, โ€œCome on, letโ€™s go in. Tell me, did you suddenly invite us for a meal because youโ€™re moving in with Sean?โ€
