Chapter 407
David had never been scolded like this, let alone by a young girl. His face immediately turned purple with anger.
Before he could retort, Josie continued to grumble, "Iโm not opposing you because Iโm unwilling to accept something. Iโm opposing you because you are shameless. You are completely unfit for the medical industry. Do I seem scheming? I regret being your student. Since you dislike me so much, donโt ever say you taught me, because I will never admit itโฆ"
โWhere are your manners? Who gave you the right to say such things? This is utterly outrageous!โ David was so angry his lips trembled.
Sean put an arm around Josieโs waist. โIs the Reedshaw family enough reason for her to say this?โ
โIf itโs not enough, thereโs always the Clem family,โ Colby said languidly. When the others looked over, he shrugged. He said, โAiden is his student, right? Heโs been attacking me like a mad dog recently. I think itโs not too much to make things difficult for his teacher, right?โ
Everyone was stunned as they thought, โNot at all!โ
Josie giggled. "I told you not to scold me. I said someone would help me, and you didnโt believe me. Now, you have to believe it. Let me tell you, Ian isnโt an outsider, and Natalie isnโt just my friend. Iโll continue to help Ian and his group, and they wonโt ever work for you!"
Ian said, "Thatโs right. I have an advisor. I had one in school, and I still do. My current advisor is Professor Wilcourt. If I have any problems, Iโll go to him. Professor Lawson, donโt come looking for me again, and stop saying misleading things. Iโm not someone who cares about empty fame. I prefer to diligently conduct my experiments!"
These words were like a resounding slap, landing hard on Davidโs face. He was so utterly humiliated that his breathing hitched, as if he were suffocating.
โMove aside!โ Josie reached out to push Colby and Joseph. She said, "Let him leave already! Otherwise, if he dies of anger, weโll be held responsible. Thatโs so not worth it."
When it came to sharp-tongued remarks, the seemingly well-behaved Josie was equally capable. The ones who werenโt drunk exchanged glances.
One of them said, "So Josie is so savage when she is drunk?"
Another said, "I donโt think itโs necessarily savage. It might be because David oppressed her too much before, and sheโs been holding a grudge!"
Someone else asked, "Is she venting it out now, fueled by the alcohol?"
A person said, "Josie hasnโt had it easy all these years!"
Another said, "With the Reedshaw family protecting her from now on, she shouldnโt have such a difficult time!"
A third said, "She relied on her own capabilities this time. This matter with Ian had nothing to do with the Reedshaw family."
Someone else said, "Thatโs right. She is impressive enough!"
Josie was carried back by Sean. As she snored softly in Seanโs arms, Natalie was eagerly waiting for David in the private room. David was furious with Josie and had completely forgotten that Natalie was still waiting for him in the private room. He returned to his car and lit a cigarette, growing more agitated as he smoked.
He thought, โHave I truly underestimated Josie? Could she really stir up a storm? I am eager to find out!โ
David scrolled to Xander Nelsonโs number, hesitated for a moment, then dialed Kenneth Garfield. He believed that it was time to have a serious talk with Xanderโs people. The success of Jeremyโs research threatened more than just him. Xandrov Longley was also on Jeremyโs team. Once Xandrovโs fame and status increased, coupled with the Longley familyโs background, Xander would no longer have a place at the National Hospital. Times had changed. Previously, Xander disagreed with his research, but now he would likely be eager to cooperate with him.
Kennethโs call went unanswered. As David was growing irritable, he saw an incoming call from Natalie.
"When will you finally arrive? If you donโt come soon, Josieโs dinner will be over!" Natalieโs voice was filled with urgency.
David thought, โThis idiot. Didnโt she hear that big commotion just now?โ
David suddenly doubted if Natalie was really his daughter.
