Chapter 407

David had never been scolded like this, let alone by a young girl. His face immediately turned purple with anger.

Before he could retort, Josie continued to grumble, "Iโ€™m not opposing you because Iโ€™m unwilling to accept something. Iโ€™m opposing you because you are shameless. You are completely unfit for the medical industry. Do I seem scheming? I regret being your student. Since you dislike me so much, donโ€™t ever say you taught me, because I will never admit itโ€ฆ"

โ€œWhere are your manners? Who gave you the right to say such things? This is utterly outrageous!โ€ David was so angry his lips trembled.

Sean put an arm around Josieโ€™s waist. โ€œIs the Reedshaw family enough reason for her to say this?โ€

โ€œIf itโ€™s not enough, thereโ€™s always the Clem family,โ€ Colby said languidly. When the others looked over, he shrugged. He said, โ€œAiden is his student, right? Heโ€™s been attacking me like a mad dog recently. I think itโ€™s not too much to make things difficult for his teacher, right?โ€

Everyone was stunned as they thought, โ€˜Not at all!โ€™

Josie giggled. "I told you not to scold me. I said someone would help me, and you didnโ€™t believe me. Now, you have to believe it. Let me tell you, Ian isnโ€™t an outsider, and Natalie isnโ€™t just my friend. Iโ€™ll continue to help Ian and his group, and they wonโ€™t ever work for you!"

Ian said, "Thatโ€™s right. I have an advisor. I had one in school, and I still do. My current advisor is Professor Wilcourt. If I have any problems, Iโ€™ll go to him. Professor Lawson, donโ€™t come looking for me again, and stop saying misleading things. Iโ€™m not someone who cares about empty fame. I prefer to diligently conduct my experiments!"

These words were like a resounding slap, landing hard on Davidโ€™s face. He was so utterly humiliated that his breathing hitched, as if he were suffocating.

โ€œMove aside!โ€ Josie reached out to push Colby and Joseph. She said, "Let him leave already! Otherwise, if he dies of anger, weโ€™ll be held responsible. Thatโ€™s so not worth it."

When it came to sharp-tongued remarks, the seemingly well-behaved Josie was equally capable. The ones who werenโ€™t drunk exchanged glances.

One of them said, "So Josie is so savage when she is drunk?"

Another said, "I donโ€™t think itโ€™s necessarily savage. It might be because David oppressed her too much before, and sheโ€™s been holding a grudge!"

Someone else asked, "Is she venting it out now, fueled by the alcohol?"

A person said, "Josie hasnโ€™t had it easy all these years!"

Another said, "With the Reedshaw family protecting her from now on, she shouldnโ€™t have such a difficult time!"

A third said, "She relied on her own capabilities this time. This matter with Ian had nothing to do with the Reedshaw family."

Someone else said, "Thatโ€™s right. She is impressive enough!"

Josie was carried back by Sean. As she snored softly in Seanโ€™s arms, Natalie was eagerly waiting for David in the private room. David was furious with Josie and had completely forgotten that Natalie was still waiting for him in the private room. He returned to his car and lit a cigarette, growing more agitated as he smoked.

He thought, โ€˜Have I truly underestimated Josie? Could she really stir up a storm? I am eager to find out!โ€™

David scrolled to Xander Nelsonโ€™s number, hesitated for a moment, then dialed Kenneth Garfield. He believed that it was time to have a serious talk with Xanderโ€™s people. The success of Jeremyโ€™s research threatened more than just him. Xandrov Longley was also on Jeremyโ€™s team. Once Xandrovโ€™s fame and status increased, coupled with the Longley familyโ€™s background, Xander would no longer have a place at the National Hospital. Times had changed. Previously, Xander disagreed with his research, but now he would likely be eager to cooperate with him.

Kennethโ€™s call went unanswered. As David was growing irritable, he saw an incoming call from Natalie.

"When will you finally arrive? If you donโ€™t come soon, Josieโ€™s dinner will be over!" Natalieโ€™s voice was filled with urgency.

David thought, โ€˜This idiot. Didnโ€™t she hear that big commotion just now?โ€™

David suddenly doubted if Natalie was really his daughter.
