Chapter 55
“Luna Hayes, you had better remember what you said today. You will regret them someday. You changed your major in your senior year, so let’s see if you can graduate without an issue!”
Russell forced his way into the crowd and walked away in misery. Trevor wasn’t standing far from them, and he was sweating profusely. From the looks of things, Luna was too far gone. He couldn’t believe that she didn’t even show Russell any respect. In fact, she decisively shamed him in public.
For the record, Russell was closest to Lama among all of them. If he had suffered such great humiliation at her hands, how was Trevor supposed to fare any better? It was a good thing that Russell was quicker, though; otherwise, he might’ve been the one humiliated.
Patting his chest, Trevor had the feeling that he had just survived a lush encounter for some reason… From the looks of things, he couldn’t cross Luna; on the contrary, he had to butter her up and keep her happy. What would he do if she suddenly went off the rails and decided to publish the evidence of him asking for money from her?
The thing about women was that they were as unpredictable as the weather. She used to be submissive and lovable, but it was all gone now. Perhaps she was crushed when she was made to leave Wilson’s team. Trevor failed to realize that Luna hadn’t changed because she didn’t get into the team. Instead, it was because they had recklessly bossed her around and suppressed her in the past.
Once Luna returned to her dorm, she felt exhilarated for some reason. It was absolutely cathartic when she recalled the miserable look on Russell’s face. However, this was nothing compared to the suffering she had been put through in her past life.
Russell couldn’t bear it simply because Luna shamed him in public. How would he endure it when he would be subjected to worse things down the road? A look of disdain flashed across her face at the thought of the future torments waiting for him. Russell had still retained some semblance of shame and integrity now. However, these qualities would eventually be shattered in the face of Mia’s cunning schemes.
In her past life, Luna didn’t have a chance to ask him whether he regretted it. This time, she would love to pose the question to him if she had the chance.
At first, Edgar’s death made her feel down, but she felt infinitely better after she stood up to Russell. Luna was done giving people free shots at picking on her. She had to work even harder than she had done before. So, she turned on her laptop, grabbed some books, and started studying.
She had no idea that someone filmed the spat between her and Russell and uploaded it onto the internet. It didn’t take long for it to be spread around the campus forum. When Mia saw the video, Ethan was back in the dorm with a cake, intending to make her happy.
“From what I heard, you came up with the innovation competition. As expected, you’re excellent, and this is your reward.”
The four-inch cake had strawberry toppings and looked absolutely delicious.
“Ethan, you’re going to make me chubby.” Mia’s tender, cutesy tone could melt anyone’s heart, especially the way she drew out her voice.
Ethan’s feet wobbled, and he had to sit again. His voice was even more affectionate than usual when he spoke. “You’re not chubby at all. It wouldn’t hurt if you gained a few pounds to begin with. It’ll only make you more adorable.”
“You should never take a page out of Lana’s playbook. She turned vegetarian because she wanted to maintain her figure, but she starved herself so much that she’s as thin as a rake. Ugliness has a face, that’s what it looks like!”
“Oh. So, she really did that to look pretty, huh?” Mia blinked, pretending to look like she was deceived. “Well, why did she say that she became a vegetarian because she was saving up to buy Russell his present?”
She made it look like she was having trouble believing the news before handing her phone to him. The video had captured the entire moment in high definition.
Ethan was terrified when he saw it. “S—she has lost it. How dare she treat Russell this way?” Then, he tossed the phone back to Mia, turned around, and sprinted toward Wyatt’s office. “Hey!” Mia didn’t expect him to have such a big reaction. At first, she intended to make a fuss over the video. Now that Russell had gotten the topic going, it would be considered rude if she didn’t give Luna a present.
