Chapter 128

Jenson's face had grown deathly somber, yet Shane remained unsatisfied. He rolled up his sleeves, planted his hands on his hips, and pressed on. "Listen up, Jenson. If you so much as breathe down our Jane's neck again, I'm calling the cops. We'll let your fans see the real you, the kind of person they're blindly supporting."

Under different circumstances, Shane would have relished the opportunity to land a punch on this guy. A flicker of hostility flashed across Jenson's eyes. He stared daggers at Shane and issued a frigid warning: "Shane, you've crossed the line!"

Even though Shane held a unique position, Jenson wasn't someone to be casually insulted. Jenson's hands, which were hanging by his sides, curled into tight fists. Shane, though, ignored the warning. He took a step forward and positioned himself directly in front of Jenson, his hands still on his hips. He leaned in casually, a mocking sneer on his lips. "Line? What are you gonna do about it?"

Was he up for a fight? That was just perfect. Shane had been itching to take a swing at Jenson for some time now. Shane's eyes sparkled with excitement; he was ready to engage in a brawl at a moment's notice.

Jenson's knuckles were bone-white from the force of his grip, but he had to rein in his temper. It wasn't just because of Shane's standing; it was also because of Suzanne's identity as Jane. He couldn't afford to antagonize her. Furthermore, as an award-winning actor, getting into a physical altercation was out of the question.

Jenson shifted his gaze to Suzanne, and his tone softened. "I was wrong not to trust you from the start. But you didn't have to embarrass me like this."

He was trying to ease the tension. A wave of intense irritation crossed Suzanne's eyes. She just wanted him to give her a way out, didn't she? He would do it, but he hoped she wouldn't be so ungrateful.

Suzanne turned to look at Jenson, her lips curling into a mocking smile. "Jenson, one needs to have their dignity."

Jenson, whose expression had just softened a moment ago, immediately turned grim. But Suzanne had already turned away from him. She turned to Shane and said, "Let's go."

Shane cast a menacing glance at Jenson before turning to follow Suzanne outside.

Jenson's fists were clenched tightly, his forehead veins bulging. He glared malevolently at Suzanne's retreating figure, his knuckles cracking. He would see just how long Suzanne intended to play this game of cat and mouse!

But at that moment, it felt as if something was choking him, making it hard to breathe. Why had Celine lied to him? If she hadn't said Suzanne wasn't Jane, things wouldn't have escalated to this point!

At that moment, Mason, who was dressed in a black suit, walked over. Seeing Jenson staring blankly at Jane's retreating figure, he playfully patted Jenson on the shoulder and teased, "What's up? Got a crush on her?"

It was only natural for the award-winning actor to be attracted to such a beautiful and capable woman. Who wouldn't like someone who was both good-looking and talented? Jenson quickly snapped out of his daze and immediately unclenched his fists. He was now regretting not being nicer to Suzanne in the first place. Otherwise, asking Jane to join wouldn't have been so difficult.

Jenson concealed his irritation and said indifferently, "Stop teasing me. Let's go!"

Mason, puzzled by Jenson's behavior, felt that his mood was a bit off today. He scratched his head and quickly caught up, saying, "Alright."

At Hall Corporation, a thick tension blanketed the spacious conference room. The room was filled with executives who, despite their usual air of self-assurance, now sat sweating nervously. None of their proposals had been green-lit.

Many stole glances at Austin, who was seated at the head of the table. His expression was dark like a storm cloud brewing. The cold, intimidating air he projected made him seem like an unforgiving deity.

One glance from him was enough to make them quickly look away, dreading that they might be the next to bear the brunt of his anger.

Tyler Hartman, the head of the business department, gingerly handed over the documents in his hands. After taking a deep, steadying breath, he said, "Mr. Hall, this is the weekly report for this week."

Austin took the documents with a stern expression, his fingers gently flipping through the pages. But the moment he saw the final numbers… With a sharp thud, Austin slammed the documents down on the table.
