Chapter 140

Todd grinned, his voice dripping with sleaze. “Be good, sweetheart. Maybe I’ll be gentle… otherwise.” His eyes gleamed with something vile.

The sheer disgust Suzanne felt at his words snapped her mind into sharp focus. Her glare turned ice-cold. “Let go of me, or…” She wanted Seline, Henry, Mandy, and especially Todd, dead.

Todd suddenly laughed, his amusement twisting his face. “Oh, you’re mad? That’s even better. Are you trying to seduce me?” He leaned in, his breath hot against her ear. He deliberately made a wet, slurping sound.

Suzanne neatly redirected her gaze, turning her head to avoid him. Then, her gaze landed on something near the nightstand. Her body tensed for a fraction of a second before she quickly concealed her reaction.

Instead, she deliberately retreated, pushing herself toward the head of the bed. Feigning fear, she stared at Todd and said in a trembling voice, “If you let me go, we can make a deal. Name your price—I’ll pay you anything.”

Her submissive retreat only fueled Todd’s excitement. “Sweetheart, the more you struggle, the more fun this gets,” he said, licking his lips. His lecherous gaze combed over her. He was clearly drunk on power.

“Money? I don’t need money,” he sneered. “What I need is a woman.” Tonight, there was no doubt that Suzanne was his.

She was completely backed against the headboard, terror filling her wide eyes. She looked like she wanted to shrink away, but her body had already given up on her.

Todd, electrified with excitement, let out a wild shout. “Come on, baby! Let me show you what it really means to be a woman.” With that, he lunged straight at her. But in the very next second, Todd, who had been riding on pure excitement just moments ago, suddenly collapsed onto the bed, his body going rigid. His face contorted in pain as he clutched the back of his head, his breathing ragged. He couldn’t even get up. All he could do was glare at Suzanne, his eyes filled with fury and disbelief.

“You… you bitch! You actually dare to hit me.” His voice was weak, barely more than a whisper.

Suzanne pressed a trembling hand to her racing heart and sucked in a deep breath. She forced herself to move, even as her body threatened to give out beneath her.

But the moment her foot touched the ground, her legs buckled. Even with the thick carpet, the impact sent a sharp sting through her knees. She scanned the room; just as she feared, her phone was gone. They had taken it. Her hands clenched. She had no choice.

Ignoring the dizziness, she crawled toward Todd’s discarded pants, her fingers shaking as she dug through the pockets. Her fingertips brushed against a phone. She immediately snatched it up, but before she could even unlock it, Todd’s hoarse voice spat out a laugh behind her.

“You really think calling someone is going to help?” He struggled to move and tried to push himself up, but a fresh wave of pain slammed into him, making him collapse again. His body was shutting down, and his vision was swimming. He was seconds away from blacking out.

Suzanne didn’t waste time. The drug was hitting full force now, and her body shook uncontrollably as she forced her trembling fingers to dial a number. The dial tone rang for a while. Every second felt like her heart was being thrown into a furnace; the anxiety was burning through her. Would he ignore it because it was from an unknown number? A sudden wave of panic surged through her. What if he didn’t answer? What was she supposed to do then?

Meanwhile, in the conference room at Hall Corporation, a group of senior executives sat around the long conference table, locked in an intense meeting. At the head of the table, Tyler was in full swing, his voice booming as he passionately laid out his presentation.

Suddenly, a phone rang. The sudden ringtone sliced through the room. Every executive immediately stiffened, their backs straightening like soldiers under command. Whose phone was that? Everyone knew the one thing Austin hated most—interruptions during meetings.

Austin didn’t pick up his phone, yet the ringing was persistent and relentless. A suffocating silence descended over the room. He sat in his chair, his expression dark as a storm cloud, exuding a pressure so intense that no one dared to breathe too loudly. Some of the executives swallowed nervously, already mourning for the poor soul calling at the wrong time. Who was calling was done for.

Finally, he picked up the phone, his voice a blade of ice as he questioned, “Who’s this?” A tremor passed through the entire room. Then, a voice, weak and desperate, came through the line. “Austin… help…”
