Chapter 159
Amelia smiled at Suzanne, her lips curving as she reassured her, “Your grandpa and I are doing just fine. Don’t worry about us.” As she patted Suzanne’s hand, her tone turned slightly stern. “But you, my dear, you’re too soft-hearted. If anyone bullies you, you must tell us.”
Suzanne’s personality was just like her mother’s. She always kept things to herself to avoid worrying others, but in the end, she was the one who got hurt. Suzanne felt warmth in her heart. Only here, with her grandparents and uncle, did she truly feel protected.
Smiling, she nodded. “I know, Grandma. I’ve grown up now, and I’ll take care of myself. I won’t let anyone push me around anymore.” The Suzanne Yates of the past was long gone.
Amelia nodded in satisfaction. “That’s good to hear.”
Turning to Tristan, Suzanne’s expression became serious. “Grandpa, I want to join Vates Corporation. I need your help.” Only with his support would her entry into the company go smoothly. She was still inexperienced, and going in alone wouldn’t earn her any respect.
Amelia and Tristan exchanged a glance, realization dawning. No wonder she had asked about the company’s shares earlier.
Tristan chuckled, his gaze filled with approval. “Looks like my granddaughter is ready.”
Just then, a voice came from the entrance. “Who’s ready for what?!”
The three of them turned to see Augustus Frost stepping in. He was dressed in a tailored black suit. His features bore a striking resemblance to Tristan’s, and his presence exuded an air of authority. His eyes brightened at the sight of Suzanne. “Suzanne, you’re here?”
Suzanne stood up, smiling. “Uncle Augustus.” It had been a while since she last saw him, and he still looked as spirited as ever.
Augustus quickened his pace, joining them with a smile. “What were you talking about? I overheard something as I walked in.”
Amelia answered with a smile. “Suzanne wants to join Yates Corporation.” She was genuinely happy about Suzanne’s decision. Suzanne could take control of the company; then, even after she and Tristan were gone, no one would dare mistreat her.
Augustus picked up a tomato from the table, rinsed it in the sink, and took a bite. “Why bother with Yates Corporation? Come to Frost Corporation. I’ve been waiting for you to take over.” He spoke seriously, not at all joking.
Suzanne, however, shook her head with a laugh. “Uncle, please spare me. I can’t even handle the mess at Yates Corporation, let alone Frost Corporation. I’d be exhausted.” Her expression turned cold. “Besides, why should I let Mandy and Seline have it easy?” Yates Corporation was the result of her grandparents’ hard work. It had nothing to do with Mandy and Seline.
The three members of the Frost family fell silent, their expressions darkening. They had always known Suzanne had suffered, but she had never spoken about it. As she had never lived with them, they were unaware of the full extent of her struggles. Her reaction now told them she had endured far more than they had realized. The Frost family always protected their own.
Augustus immediately understood her intentions and didn’t try to dissuade her. Instead, he stepped forward, patted her shoulder, and took another bite of his tomato. “I support you. Whatever you need, just ask.” Their support for her was absolute.
Suzanne’s eyes glistened slightly. She looked at Augustus and nodded firmly. “Thank you, Augustus.”
Augustus waved a hand dismissively. “We’re family. No need for thanks. I’ll ask the housekeeper to prepare dinner. Spend some time with your grandma.” With that, he headed toward the living room.
Tristan also stood. “I’ll get some water.”
Suzanne remained by Amelia’s side and watched as her grandfather and Augustus walked away. She couldn’t help but give a small smile.
