Chapter 174

After confirming that Fabian was in stable condition, Suzanne rose to her feet and made her way toward the door. Samuel grinned and nudged William. “Will, you go ahead. I’ll stay here and keep an eye on Fabian.” After all, he wasn’t confident in leaving Fabian completely unattended. Parting Samuel’s shoulder, William said softly, “I appreciate it.” Samuel simply waved him off, and with that, William stepped out of the room.

In the living room, Austin and the others were sitting on the mahogany couch. They quietly sipped their coffee as they waited for Suzanne. The only one unable to stay still was Nate, who paced anxiously across the room. He had no idea what was happening inside. Though Suzanne had displayed remarkable skills earlier, he wouldn’t be able to truly relax until he saw Fabian awake with his own eyes.

Just then, the room door opened. Suzanne emerged, her expression calm and composed. Nate immediately moved toward her, about to ask how things went, but William beat him to it. “Fabian is out of danger. He’s safe now,” he declared.

The weight on Nate’s chest lifted instantly. His eyes turned misty as he looked at Suzanne with newfound admiration and disbelief. “It’s all thanks to this young lady,” he blurted. For someone so young to possess such medical expertise was extraordinary. Glancing at Nate, William chuckled. “This is Dr. Smith, the miracle doctor. Her reputation is well-earned.” Meeting her in person made William feel that his life was not a waste.

Hearing this, Nate froze and stared at Suzanne in astonishment. “Y–You’re…” he stammered. Memories of how dismissive he had been earlier flashed through his mind, and shame washed over him. If his actions had cost Fabian his chance at treatment, he would never have forgiven himself. Lowering his head respectfully, he said, “I sincerely apologize for what happened earlier.”

Unfazed, Suzanne waved him off. “No worries. It was an urgent situation.” Nate was momentarily stunned by her composure despite her young age. Looking at him, Suzanne added gently, “You can check on him, but don’t wake him. Let him come around naturally.” Nate’s face lit up, and he nodded eagerly. “Got it. Please rest for now. I’ll be right back.” With that, he hurried toward the room.

Suzanne understood his urgency and said nothing more. She turned back and walked toward Austin, taking a seat beside him. Austin’s gaze lingered on her. “Are you tired?” he inquired. Suzanne glanced at him, a faint smile tugging at her lips. “A little,” she admitted. He remained silent. He simply poured her a cup of coffee and placed it quietly in front of her.

Fifteen minutes later… It was so satisfying. Yatrane and Aaron exchanged a look, both smiling. Watching everyone go from doubting Suzanne to being proven wrong was… Fabian woke up sooner than expected, barely minutes later. Nate rushed out of the room, excitement written all over his face. He turned to Suzanne and exclaimed, “Dr. Smith, Mr. Zander is awake. He wants to see you.”

Suzanne had just lifted her coffee cup but set it down again. “Alright,” she said, standing up and heading toward the room. Inside, Fabian was already sitting up against the headboard. Though his eyes were open, he was still visibly weak. A kind smile appeared on his face as he watched Suzanne walk in. In a gentle voice, he said, “Thank you, miss.” He hadn’t expected someone so young to possess such remarkable medical skill.

Suzanne approached the bedside, her lips curving slightly. She replied straightforwardly, “You’re welcome. Now that you’re awake, I’d like to check your pulse again.”
