Chapter 25
Austin was sitting on the couch, his long legs crossed, his presence exuding a noble demeanor. He was playing with a hairpin that belonged to Suzanne. When he heard the bathroom door open, his cold and indifferent gaze landed on Suzanne, who was only wrapped in a towel. The towel was quite short, not long enough at the top or bottom. Combined with Suzanne’s tall figure and her fair, slender legs, she made quite a sight.
Austin’s gaze immediately darkened, and Suzanne stiffened. When did he come back? A breeze swept past them, and Suzanne felt as though she were standing before him without any clothes on; at that thought, her face flushed instantly. She quickly covered her chest with her hands and somewhat shyly asked, “Why didn’t you say anything when you came back?”
She glanced at her pajamas on the bed. To get to them, she would have to pass where Austin was sitting. Suzanne felt frustrated. If she had known, she would have put the pajamas in the bathroom!
A flame of desire seemed to burn in Austin’s deep-set eyes. Her face was reddened, and she looked like a frightened little rabbit. His scorching gaze made Suzanne’s cheeks flush with even more heat. She shyly turned her head away and whispered awkwardly, “Y—You… Don’t look!”
They hadn’t had much physical contact prior to their marriage, and after they got married, they had been living separately. This was their first time interacting so intimately. Suzanne couldn’t bear it at all. She quickly ran toward the bed to grab her pajamas.
But in her flustered state, she kicked the leg of a nearby cupboard and fell uncontrollably, stumbling forward. Suzane turned pale in her panic, thinking she was doomed. If she fell down like this, her face would probably hit the ground. However, the next moment, a strong arm suddenly wrapped around her waist, and Suzanne fell into Austin’s embrace.
The pain she imagined didn’t come, and she let out a heavy sigh of relief. However, the only thing she had wrapped around her body—the towel—had come undone when she stumbled. Suzanne felt her blood rush to her head, and her brain completely shut down. She closed her eyes and bit her lip tightly.
Just when she thought she had hit rock bottom, something worse happened! Austin, holding Suzanne in his arms, was about to move when he saw her tightly clinging to him. Her face was flushed red as she said, “You… Don’t move.” If he moved now, she would completely expose everything to him.
But what she didn’t know was that sometimes, it wasn’t always about what could be seen—even what could be felt was enough. They stood facing each other. Her body was pressed against his chest, and his hand was resting on her lower back. Austin’s Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, and his voice was husky as he asked, “Are you sure?”
Suzanne’s expression shifted. What did he mean by that? He wouldn’t… Flustered, she quickly reached out and covered his eyes while anxiously saying, “I don’t care! Close your eyes first! You can’t look!” Although she spoke firmly, her voice sounded incredibly gentle to Austin.
He could feel her soft, delicate hand, and he could smell the faint fragrance in the air. His Adam’s apple involuntarily bobbed up and down again. He closed his eyes, but in his mind, her image became even clearer. Austin felt his throat go dry as if it were parched from a fire, but he still said hoarsely, “Alright.”
Suzanne carefully checked that he had indeed closed his eyes before letting out a relieved sigh and slowly lowering her hand. She quickly ran to the bed, clutched the pajamas to her chest, and darted into the bathroom. She moved as quickly as a skittish rabbit.
