Chapter 71

“Truth,” Suzanne said, making her choice before anyone else began chanting. She didn’t want to risk being dared to confess to some random man. However, her choice still caused the others’ eyes to shine as they looked back and forth between Suzanne and Jenson. Janice, who had been kneeling next to the liquor table, now leaned against a propped-up hand. Curious, she asked, “I have a question. Suzanne, are you really over Mr. Movie Star?”

Suzanne and Jenson had been acting strangely around each other all day. Everyone turned to look at Suzanne. Seline frowned slightly. Her round eyes were slightly clouded in annoyance. Janice really picked the worst time to say things. However, Seline still instinctively clenched her fists when she turned to look at Suzanne. She wondered how Suzanne would reply. If Suzanne dared to say she still liked Jenson, Seline would give her hell.

Jenson’s hand jolted slightly around the stem of his wine glass. His gaze, lit up with slight mirth, also landed on Suzanne. Everyone waited for her answer quietly. Suzanne took a light sip of the liquor in her glass before replying mildly, “Yes.” That simple word immediately wiped the smile off Jenson’s face as he clutched his glass tightly. He stared at Suzanne darkly but suddenly seemed to think of something. Could it be another one of Suzanne’s tricks to catch his attention? After all, Marsha had been the one who planned the gathering. Could she have invited him so that Suzanne had a better chance at getting him back? It wasn’t as if she had never done something like that before.

None of them expected Suzanne to admit it so readily. Janice’s thirst for gossip was getting increasingly intense as she asked Suzanne, “Why?” Most of their circle knew Suzanne’s feelings for Jenson. However, after so many years, she suddenly stopped liking him. Nobody knew the reason behind it.

Suzanne smiled slightly as she looked at Janice and said with a chuckle, “That counts as a second question.” Her expression was perfectly calm, and she didn’t spare Jenson a single glance. Marsha looked at Suzanne in shock. Once the gathering was over, she had to get some information from her. Seline’s fists finally loosened—at least Suzanne knew what to say.

Janice felt like Jenson’s demeanor was off and hurriedly broke the tension by announcing with a smile, “As expected of our mighty Ms. Yates! Let’s continue.” If she continued with her questions, the atmosphere would definitely take a sour turn. The others cleverly began to loosen up and cheer as well to break the tension. Soon enough, the bottle landed on Seline.

Seline looked at the bottle with an excited gleam in her eyes. She looked at Jenson expectantly. It would be perfect if she could use this opportunity to interact with Jenson and publicize their relationship! However, Jenson was focused on drinking his liquor dully. He didn’t even bother to look in her direction. She looked down, feeling slightly disappointed. She took a deep breath to control herself.

Janice raised her eyebrows in Seline’s direction and asked with a smile, “So, what do you pick?”

Seline said, “I’ll pick ‘truth’."

Marsha didn’t like Seline, so she lazed against the couch and watched as the others continued playing. Marsha leaned in closely to Suzanne to whisper, “Your sister…” Her gaze betrayed her impatience. She trailed off, but Suzanne could feel Marsha’s annoyance. All Suzanne did was smile without another word.
