Chapter 531
Royal Citadel personnel arrived quickly. Gregory briefed them and conferred with Michael. They decided to return the assassins' bodies to the Royal Citadel.
Since the matter was now in the authorities' hands, statements were crucial. Michael needed to reiterate the information Aurora had previously revealed to the Citadel personnel. To avoid further questioning, Aurora feigned a faint due to her injuries and was carried to her room.
Everyone was busy dealing with the aftermath. After answering all inquiries, Barrett collapsed from exhaustion. Viola instructed that he be taken to his bed at Grace Mansion to rest.
Charlotte, usually uninvolved in the main house's affairs, went directly to Rebecca upon learning Carissa had saved them. She sharply demanded, "How did you treat her in the past? She saved the entire Warren family tonight! Do you feel any shame? Will you still speak ill of her?"
For the first time, Rebecca was speechless. The night's near-fatal danger had left her shaken.
However, Rebecca's inherent strength and stubbornness surfaced. After several shifts in expression, she finally said, "How would she know Valor Estate was under attack? Did she send the assassins? The authorities haven't fully investigated; why are you jumping to conclusions?"
Charlotte was dumbfounded. "So, you're saying she hired assassins to kill you, then rescued you to secure your gratitude? Is that it? If our family acknowledges her help, she can use it to gain wealth and power, right?"
Charlotte left, weeping, feeling wronged for both Carissa and herself. She even considered leaving Valor Estate.
Amelia was becoming independent, but Barrett's two wives presented a problem. One was cruel, the other foolish; neither was useful, and they had damaged the family's reputation.
Moving out, however, seemed impossible. The Warren family had sold all its properties and shops. Charlotte's branch couldn't afford a house, let alone rent one. What about their children's marriages? And what was the point of separating from the main family but remaining on the same estate? The main family had spent considerable funds over the years, and repayment was impossible.
Jonathan was ineffectual, incapable of handling any matter. Benjamin was even less useful, and Bryan was a complete failure, lacking in both academics and combat skills.
Distressed, Charlotte worried about their future. It was a constant source of anxiety.
Carissa left Valor Estate and returned to her residence. Earlier, Claire had reported several people in black heading toward Valor Estate. Carissa immediately alerted the household soldiers and instructed Violet to watch Helen and Ryan closely, suspecting a diversion; Hell Monarch Estate needed to be vigilant.
Carissa, armed with her Rose Spear, went to Valor Estate, opting to handle the situation personally. This would allow her to better explain things to the king and avoid implicating Violet and Travis. Her status as princess consort would spare her many difficulties.
Upon returning to Hell Monarch Estate, she found everything calm.
Violet and Travis rushed to her. "How did it go? Were there any surviving assassins?"
"Aurora killed them all," Carissa said, setting down her Rose Spear. She was angry, but Aurora's actions only confirmed her guilt and fear.
"Was everything alright here?" Carissa asked.

"Everything's fine," Violet replied, frowning. "Aurora killed all the assassins? You didn't need to intervene?"
"I severed their tendons and drained their cores. Gregory ordered them bound, but before Michael arrived, Aurora slit their throats," Carissa explained.
"She murdered them to silence them," Travis said, leaning on a metal staff, thoughtfully. "They weren't from Westhaven, right?"
"They were from Starhaven," Carissa confirmed.
Westhaven and Starhaven citizens differed slightly in appearance. Westhaven people had darker skin, high noses, and deep-set eyes.
Carissa strongly suspected Yuvan's involvement. Killing Aurora would leave Westhaven's people with no outlet for their anger, creating an opportunity for war between the kingdoms.
