Chapter 805
โNo, itโs better for them to save any extra money. When they leave here, it will be good to have some on hand. You know my family canโt give them money directly, Commander Sinclair.โ
Carissa pondered for a moment. โAlright, then.โ Casey would need to support her daughter independently in the future, so having extra money would be beneficial. Carissa hoped Yuvanโs rebellion would conclude soon so the women could leave.
โThank you, Commander Sinclair.โ
โAnd where is the child? Will you send someone to bring her, or should we send someone to fetch her?โ
Lionel bowed slightly. โIt would be best if you could fetch her. Itโs really not appropriate for me to bring her here. Sheโs currently at an apple farm outside the city, cared for by a wet nurse. Sheโs weaned now and can eat like any other child.โ
โVery well, Iโll go pick her up,โ Carissa replied.
โThank you!โ Lionelโs eyes glistened with unshed tears. He also wanted to apologize for his earlier inappropriate comments. โI truly spoke out of turn in the heat of the moment, Commander Sinclair. Please donโt take it to heart. These past few days have been quite chaotic. Casey initially tried to get close to me, but I managed to avoid her. My father, however, was not so fortunate. I assume youโve uncovered all of this as well.โ
The moment he saw Casey, his world felt like it was collapsing. Even while maintaining a facade of respect for his father, his view of Malcolm had fundamentally changed.
Carissa nodded. โWe did. But actually, Eleanor initially intended for her to approach your father. However, upon further reflection, she felt your father was a man of integrity who had a loving relationship with your mother. Thatโs why she chose to target you instead. In the end, when that didnโt work, Eleanor decided to let her try her luck with your father.โ
Lionel sighed deeply, feeling increasingly unsettled. He nodded respectfully and stumbled away without another word.
