Chapter 836
Carissa's absence from court, due to Salvador's focus on the Eleanor treason case, ended today. By the time Frederick arrived at Hell Monarch Estate, she and Rafael had already left. Unable to meet Carissa, Frederick briefed Jacob.
Jacob, unfazed by the Warren family's involvement, invited Frederick for coffee. After a brief chat with Lily, he summoned Violet for her opinion. Knowing Carissa had tasked Violet's people with monitoring Barrett's association with Yuvan, he hoped for insights into happenings at Valor Estate.
However, Violet yawned and said, "I don't know. I haven't been closely watching Valor Estate; I only instructed my people to monitor Yuvan's movements. I know who he's been in contact with, but I have no idea what's happening with the Warren family."
"That's strange," Jacob replied.
Violet shrugged unconcernedly. "Why should we concern ourselves with the Warren family?"
Though she harbored no ill will toward Amelia, neither did she feel affection for her.
Jacob explained, "We shouldn't get involved in their affairs. The problem is Madam Amelia was seen sitting outside Northwatch Estate for a considerable time. If something happens to her, or if she causes trouble, it will bring unwanted scrutiny upon us."
Still sleepy, Violet yawned again, her eyes glistening. "Should we send someone to look for her? I've heard Amelia's been under a lot of pressure. Knowing Aurora and Viola, she might have reached a breaking point."
"Let's find her," Jacob agreed. "We can't risk anything going wrong. Why was she sitting outside Northwatch Estate? She has no ties with Lady Carissa."
Logically, while not enemies, the Warren family and Carissa weren't friendly. Amelia sitting outside Northwatch, knowing Carissa wasn't there, indicated she wasn't seeking her out. Given Amelia's temperament, and the Warren family's need for caution after Barrett's promotion, it was unlikely anyone sent her to cause a scene. It seemed Amelia was simply dealing with personal issues and had nowhere else to go.
"Find her! But keep it discreet," Jacob commanded, dispatching people to search. "Just casually look around."
Turning to Violet, he added, "Ms. Spencer, Lady Carissa may be at the Central Command Office or Capital Guard headquarters. Check both, in case something happened to Madam Amelia."
Violet nodded. "Understood."
As she prepared to leave, Ivy entered with a medicine box.
"What are you doing here so early? Who's sick?" Violet asked, surprised.
Ivy rolled her eyes. "Lily's unwell. I came yesterday. You're heartless! Lily's too kind to you."
Violet sighed. "No one told me. I'll see her later. Will she be alright?"
"It's minor," Ivy said, then paused. "While talking to the gatekeeper, I overheard you mentioning Madam Amelia. What's going on? She was buying medicine at Arcane Sanctum yesterday."
"Really? Anything unusual?" Violet asked urgently.
"I wasn't there, but the assistant said she bought Snowdrop and Evergreen Pills. Her eyes were red and puffy, like she'd been crying."
"Crying? She must have been upset."
Ivy shrugged. "Amelia being upset is nothing new. She's probably used to it."
Violet grabbed Ivy's arm. "Let's forget Carissa for now. We need to understand this. Tell me everything."
