Chapter 100: Ellis Needs a Favor
After confirming Ellieโs identity with Carly, the security personnel immediately let her through. At the same time, Carly came out to greet her. Seeing Ellis looking a bit disheveled, Carly asked, โWhat happened to you?โ
โWent to Hudson Group to find Easton, and just happened to run into Victoria. I slapped her,โ Ellis shrugged, not feeling like sheโd done anything wrong, just regretting not doing it sooner.
Carlyโs eyebrows immediately knit together, as if she could crush someone with them. โAre you bored with life and just looking for trouble? Havenโt you seen that Iโm living here with my dad in shame?โ
As for Easton, Carly kept her distance now. But Ellis had foolishly gone and slapped the person Easton cared about most. Is she looking for death?
โI already slapped her!โ Ellis suddenly felt exhausted, her body leaning sideways as she rested her head on Carlyโs shoulder to ease her fatigue. โI came here today to talk to Mr. Scott.โ
โYou reckless child!โ Carly pushed Ellisโs head away in disgust. โYou didnโt get Eastonโs money or get anywhere with him, but youโve picked up a heap of trouble. Youโre something else! And you want to talk to my dad? Do you think heโll see you just because you want to? He hasnโt even seen me in the past few days.โ
โMs. Carly, tell Mr. Scott that Iโm divorcing Easton. He doesnโt agree, but heโll definitely see me.โ
โPlease,โ Ellis lifted her head, putting her hands together in a pleading gesture, her eyes full of desperation. โI canโt stand it for another minute. Iโm still married to Easton!โ
โSo, you want to use my dad to get the divorce settled?โ Carly grabbed Ellisโs hands, pressing them down to stop her from acting pitiful.
โYes,โ Ellis sighed lightly. โEaston ruined my job, and now my bank account is frozen.โ
On the way here, sheโd already decided that the only way to solve this was for Scott to intervene. If Scott didnโt step in, sheโd shamelessly stay at the manor until the divorce was finalized. After all, living at the manor meant she didnโt have to pay for food and drink, and right now, she could hardly be considered financially stable.
Carly sized Ellis up from head to toe, then sighed as if resigned to her fate. โYou could have liked anyone, but you had to like Easton. Now look where you are.โ
Compared to what she gained as Eastonโs mother-in-law, after personally experiencing Eastonโs tactics, she longed for the past. Whether I had a lot or a little money, what mattered most was what I actually had in hand.
Ellis dramatically slumped onto the couch, half-lying with a cushion in her arms. Like that, Carly couldnโt help but pat her head and warn, โSit up properly. Iโll go talk to my dad. Heโll come over when he can.โ
โHmmโฆโ Ellis sat up obediently, like a well-behaved child. Carly asked the butler where her father was, finding him playing golf on the lawn. As she got closer to him, Carlyโs frustration only grew stronger.
From a distance, Scott noticed the changing expressions on his daughterโs face. When she stood in front of him, he spoke before she could, โI donโt have any money. The Hudson family is under Eastonโs control now. If you need something, ask him.โ Just because a father divided his wealth among his children didnโt mean he had no personal fortune left. Carly had wanted to rely on him forever, but her father had put an end to that.
โDad, Ellis is here. She wants to divorce Easton, but Easton doesnโt agree. She wants you to handle it.โ
โYou want to divorce Easton?โ Scott didnโt believe it at first. He hadnโt forgotten that the reason Easton married Ellis was partly due to a scheme between his daughter and daughter-in-law, with Ellis doing her fair share of work. โI told you to deal with her before, but you wouldnโt.โ
โItโs definitely real!โ Carly made a gesture as if swearing, then took the golf club from her fatherโs hand. โSheโs in the main house. Do you want to go see her?โ
Scott didnโt trust his daughterโs words, but he grew suspicious. โIf they divorce, you donโt have any objections?โ
โMy opinion doesnโt matter! Dad, havenโt you seen that Easton kicked me out of the mansion, stopped sending money from the foundation, and even froze my accounts?โ Carly was filled with resentment as she spoke. โHow could I interfere with their affairs?โ
Having lived most of her life, it was frustrating to feel so powerless now, unable to rely on Ellis for continuous financial support and instead facing hardships sheโd never experienced before.
โAlright, Iโll believe you for now.โ Scott took off his hat and allowed his daughter to help him toward the main house.
It didnโt take long before Carly and Scott walked in together, and Ellis greeted them with a polite smile. โMs. Carly, Mr. Scott.โ
Ellis didnโt call him โGrandpaโ but used the original form of address. Scott was slightly surprised but quickly said, โCarly just told me a bit. Now, tell me whatโs going on.โ
The situation was simple, and Ellis explained it in one sentence. At first, Scott didnโt react, staying silent. After a while, he sized her up, as if trying to figure out whether she was being truthful. The silence stretched on, and Ellis couldnโt help but emphasize, โIโm not lying.โ
โIf youโre determined to divorce, thereโs no turning back,โ Scott said slowly.
