Chapter 100: Ellis Needs a Favor

After confirming Ellieโ€™s identity with Carly, the security personnel immediately let her through. At the same time, Carly came out to greet her. Seeing Ellis looking a bit disheveled, Carly asked, โ€œWhat happened to you?โ€

โ€œWent to Hudson Group to find Easton, and just happened to run into Victoria. I slapped her,โ€ Ellis shrugged, not feeling like sheโ€™d done anything wrong, just regretting not doing it sooner.

Carlyโ€™s eyebrows immediately knit together, as if she could crush someone with them. โ€œAre you bored with life and just looking for trouble? Havenโ€™t you seen that Iโ€™m living here with my dad in shame?โ€

As for Easton, Carly kept her distance now. But Ellis had foolishly gone and slapped the person Easton cared about most. Is she looking for death?

โ€œI already slapped her!โ€ Ellis suddenly felt exhausted, her body leaning sideways as she rested her head on Carlyโ€™s shoulder to ease her fatigue. โ€œI came here today to talk to Mr. Scott.โ€

โ€œYou reckless child!โ€ Carly pushed Ellisโ€™s head away in disgust. โ€œYou didnโ€™t get Eastonโ€™s money or get anywhere with him, but youโ€™ve picked up a heap of trouble. Youโ€™re something else! And you want to talk to my dad? Do you think heโ€™ll see you just because you want to? He hasnโ€™t even seen me in the past few days.โ€

โ€œMs. Carly, tell Mr. Scott that Iโ€™m divorcing Easton. He doesnโ€™t agree, but heโ€™ll definitely see me.โ€

โ€œPlease,โ€ Ellis lifted her head, putting her hands together in a pleading gesture, her eyes full of desperation. โ€œI canโ€™t stand it for another minute. Iโ€™m still married to Easton!โ€

โ€œSo, you want to use my dad to get the divorce settled?โ€ Carly grabbed Ellisโ€™s hands, pressing them down to stop her from acting pitiful.

โ€œYes,โ€ Ellis sighed lightly. โ€œEaston ruined my job, and now my bank account is frozen.โ€

On the way here, sheโ€™d already decided that the only way to solve this was for Scott to intervene. If Scott didnโ€™t step in, sheโ€™d shamelessly stay at the manor until the divorce was finalized. After all, living at the manor meant she didnโ€™t have to pay for food and drink, and right now, she could hardly be considered financially stable.

Carly sized Ellis up from head to toe, then sighed as if resigned to her fate. โ€œYou could have liked anyone, but you had to like Easton. Now look where you are.โ€

Compared to what she gained as Eastonโ€™s mother-in-law, after personally experiencing Eastonโ€™s tactics, she longed for the past. Whether I had a lot or a little money, what mattered most was what I actually had in hand.

Ellis dramatically slumped onto the couch, half-lying with a cushion in her arms. Like that, Carly couldnโ€™t help but pat her head and warn, โ€œSit up properly. Iโ€™ll go talk to my dad. Heโ€™ll come over when he can.โ€

โ€œHmmโ€ฆโ€ Ellis sat up obediently, like a well-behaved child. Carly asked the butler where her father was, finding him playing golf on the lawn. As she got closer to him, Carlyโ€™s frustration only grew stronger.

From a distance, Scott noticed the changing expressions on his daughterโ€™s face. When she stood in front of him, he spoke before she could, โ€œI donโ€™t have any money. The Hudson family is under Eastonโ€™s control now. If you need something, ask him.โ€ Just because a father divided his wealth among his children didnโ€™t mean he had no personal fortune left. Carly had wanted to rely on him forever, but her father had put an end to that.

โ€œDad, Ellis is here. She wants to divorce Easton, but Easton doesnโ€™t agree. She wants you to handle it.โ€

โ€œYou want to divorce Easton?โ€ Scott didnโ€™t believe it at first. He hadnโ€™t forgotten that the reason Easton married Ellis was partly due to a scheme between his daughter and daughter-in-law, with Ellis doing her fair share of work. โ€œI told you to deal with her before, but you wouldnโ€™t.โ€

โ€œItโ€™s definitely real!โ€ Carly made a gesture as if swearing, then took the golf club from her fatherโ€™s hand. โ€œSheโ€™s in the main house. Do you want to go see her?โ€

Scott didnโ€™t trust his daughterโ€™s words, but he grew suspicious. โ€œIf they divorce, you donโ€™t have any objections?โ€

โ€œMy opinion doesnโ€™t matter! Dad, havenโ€™t you seen that Easton kicked me out of the mansion, stopped sending money from the foundation, and even froze my accounts?โ€ Carly was filled with resentment as she spoke. โ€œHow could I interfere with their affairs?โ€

Having lived most of her life, it was frustrating to feel so powerless now, unable to rely on Ellis for continuous financial support and instead facing hardships sheโ€™d never experienced before.

โ€œAlright, Iโ€™ll believe you for now.โ€ Scott took off his hat and allowed his daughter to help him toward the main house.

It didnโ€™t take long before Carly and Scott walked in together, and Ellis greeted them with a polite smile. โ€œMs. Carly, Mr. Scott.โ€

Ellis didnโ€™t call him โ€œGrandpaโ€ but used the original form of address. Scott was slightly surprised but quickly said, โ€œCarly just told me a bit. Now, tell me whatโ€™s going on.โ€

The situation was simple, and Ellis explained it in one sentence. At first, Scott didnโ€™t react, staying silent. After a while, he sized her up, as if trying to figure out whether she was being truthful. The silence stretched on, and Ellis couldnโ€™t help but emphasize, โ€œIโ€™m not lying.โ€

โ€œIf youโ€™re determined to divorce, thereโ€™s no turning back,โ€ Scott said slowly.
