Chapter 170: First Love
โMs. Victoria, Iโll check the schedule at the office tomorrow and get back to you.โ
Eastonโs first love couldnโt be offended, but Taylor still had to follow confidentiality rules. She used an appropriate excuse to dismiss her for now, planning to find another reason to refuse her tomorrow. At the same time, a small doubt crept into her mind. If Victoria wants to meet Mr. Hudson, why didnโt she contact him directly?
On the surface, asking Taylor about Eastonโs schedule seemed like she was trying not to disturb him during work, but Easton didnโt work 24/7. If she didnโt want to visit him at the office, she could go to his house and spend the night with him.
After hanging up, Taylor calculated the time it would take for the driver to get Easton home. Shortly after the driver parked, Taylor called him.
โRonnie, youโve been Mr. Hudsonโs personal driver for years. Have you ever seen Victoria at his house?โ
At first glance, the question seemed random. Ronnie Smith was confused. โNever.โ
Eastonโs personal driver, Ronnie, was always on standby whenever Easton needed a ride. He even lived at the Hudson mansion, so he was certain he had never seen Victoria there.
โNever?โ Taylor found it hard to believe.
โYeah,โ Ronnie emphasized. โTaylor, why are you asking?โ
โItโs just a little strange.โ
โWhatโs strange?โ
โVictoria never went to the Hudson mansion? She never stayed over?โ
Taylor considered another possibilityโmaybe Easton and Victoria had a regular place outside where they spent the night together.
โTaylor, what are you even thinking?โ Ronnie was stunned by her assumption.
The Hudson mansion wasnโt just any house. It was the home Easton shared with Ellis as their marital residence. Even though Ellis no longer lived there, if she ever found out that another woman had stayed over, it would be a disaster.
Catching the surprise in Ronnieโs tone, Taylor asked, โAm I wrong to think that?โ
โOf course you are!โ Ronnie thought for a moment before adding, โMrs. Hudson and Mr. Hudson never liked outsiders in their home, especially Mr. Hudson. Heโs always been particular about that.โ
Hearing this, and noting how Ronnie still referred to Ellis as Mrs. Hudson, Taylor found the whole situation increasingly complicated. It seems like Victoria isnโt as close to Mr. Hudson as she wants people to believe. Why does it feel like there is no real intimacy between them?
โWhy do you still call Ms. Harper โMrs. Hudsonโ? You know she and Mr. Hudson are divorced, right?โ Taylor asked casually, assuming Ronnie was just used to calling her that.
Ronnie genuinely didnโt know. The moment Taylor said it, his jaw dropped in shock. โI had no idea, but Mr. Hudson latelyโฆโ
The Hudson mansion had undergone a complete overhaul in recent days. The butler had given strict orders to the staff that any item remotely related to Ellis had to be handled with extreme care. If anyone damaged or misplaced something, Easton would lose his temper, and everyone would suffer the consequences.
Since their interests aligned, Ronnie shared what had been happening at the Hudson mansion with Taylor.
After listening and thinking it over, Taylor came to a rough conclusion: Mr. Hudson still has feelings for Ellis.
As for Victoria, the so-called irreplaceable first love, Taylorโs initial thought of not daring to offend her had now turned into curiosity. Just how much does Mr. Hudson actually care about her?
Since there was no way she could invite Easton, Victoria tried other ways. She remembered the ex-classmate gathering back then; Easton attended without hesitation.
Her first target to help her was Morty. She called him and said, โMorty, hold a gathering and invite Easton.โ
โIsnโt inviting him on your own way easier? Do you have to use me?โ Morty did not refuse, but his words showed that he was disdainful.
โIf I could invite him, I wouldnโt have called you,โ said Victoria. She then added, โYou promised to help me become Mrs. Hudson.โ
โYou saw how Easton hit my head with a wine bottle. Do you think I can easily help you as I please?โ Morty took a sip of wine, which was given to him by a friend. โI canโt help you. Look for someone else. Iโm entertaining some people. Bye.โ
Without waiting for Victoria to reply, Morty hung up.
When he saw his friendsโ gazes, he arched his brows. โWhat are you guys looking at?โ
โBefore you answered the call, you were grinning at your phone like a man in love. Then after the call, your face turned dark. I was about to ask if youโve got someone special. Are you in a relationship?โ His friend teased, playfully punching Morty on the shoulder.
As the call screen disappeared, the WhatsApp chat popped back up. Morty instinctively glanced at the British Shorthair staring into the camera, and he smiled slightly. โIf I am, youโll be the first to know.โ
