Chapter 320: Suspicious Services

After dismissing the hotel staff, Ellis remained in bed, deep in thought. Kyrador was scenic, sure, but after the secretary's meddling, the city felt tainted to her. With so many beautiful things in the country to see, why confine myself to one city?

With over twenty days of vacation left, she decided to explore other cities. Having lounged enough, Ellis booked a flight, got up, packed her bags, and went to the lobby to check out.

Just as she finished the checkout process, a uniformed employee approached and offered to help with her luggage.

โ€œMs. Harper, youโ€™re headed to the airport, right? Our hotel service includes a complimentary ride to the airport; Iโ€™ll be your driver, please follow me,โ€ he said.

The driver had it all figured out without her needing to say a word, and Ellis, not feeling like making small talk, appreciated the convenience. Saving on taxi fare was always welcome.

Her thrifty mindset only lasted a few minutes because she boarded a stretch limousine. She wasnโ€™t clueless about luxury cars, but for an ordinary guest like herself, this seemed a bit excessive.

The ride was short, and she didnโ€™t dwell on it. Upon arriving at the airport, she grabbed her luggage and headed inside.

Although not flush with cash, Ellis disliked skimping while traveling and had splurged on a first-class seat. Oddly, she felt the flight attendant serving her was unusually enthusiastic. First class isnโ€™t that crowded; why so much attention?

She closed her magazine and looked away, only to spot Maxwell absorbed in his laptop a few seats ahead. Perhaps her stare was too noticeable because he glanced her way.

After checking out the hotel and resort scene in Kyrador, Maxwell was on his way to Januka for more inspections. He hadnโ€™t expected to encounter the girl who had once spilled milk on him.

She seemed surprised to see him, blinking her bright eyes. It made sense that someone who could afford a five-star hotel could also afford first class. Maxwell had seen her discomfort at the hotel restaurant but didnโ€™t think she lacked the means to share a cabin with him.

Is this a coincidence? He didnโ€™t suspect her of deliberately trying to get close; after a brief glance, she looked away as if she had never seen him before.

Chapter 30: Suspicieta Services

Ellis wasnโ€™t one to engage in small talk with strangers, especially those she barely knew. Throughout the flight, she quietly gazed at the sky through the window.

When the plane landed, the flight attendant reminded her to collect her luggage as there was a car ready to take her to the hotel.

Ellis couldnโ€™t remember if her ticket included a transfer service. To be sure, she checked her booking. Transfer service??

The flight attendant nodded earnestly, โ€œYes.โ€

โ€œThen why donโ€™t I have a transfer service?โ€ Maxwell asked the attendant, his question unintentional but disarming.

The flight attendant, having confirmed Ellisโ€™s identity and intent on fulfilling her assigned task, was thrown off by Maxwellโ€™s interjection.

โ€œBe careful out there,โ€ Maxwell advised Ellis before disembarking.

Undeniably, she was strikingly beautiful โ€“ a fact that didnโ€™t escape her attention nor the potential dangers it could pose in a bustling city like Januka, where beauty could be exploited.

Ellis knew the importance of being cautious. As Eastonโ€™s wife, she was accustomed to impeccable service and hadnโ€™t completely shed that expectation. The sudden offer of a transfer service didnโ€™t initially strike her as odd.

But Maxwellโ€™s question and his parting words made her sense something was amiss. If every first-class passenger is supposed to get this service, why didnโ€™t others? Is the flight attendant lying? Whatโ€™s their angle?

Immediately, she ignored the attendant and briskly made her way to baggage claim. Maxwell was there too, collecting his luggage.

Seeing her, he raised an eyebrow. โ€œDid you keep your wits about you?โ€

With no one else around, it was clear he was speaking to her. Ellis asserted, โ€œI did!โ€

Not everyone in the world has good intentions; where there are good people, there are also bad ones. Bad people donโ€™t wear signs announcing their intentions; discernment was necessary. Maxwell was warning her โ€“ the flight attendant might be up to no good.

Just as she was about to thank him, Maxwell walked away with his luggage. Ellis didnโ€™t dwell on it; feeling the airport was no longer safe, she quickly got a ride to her hotel.
