Chapter 94: Unwelcome Revelations

Ellis felt utterly dumbfounded. Was her desire for a divorce that shocking? Do people really think it had to be Faston who kicked me to the curb? Please. Easton is no Prince Charming; to me, heโ€™s a prick I wish I could get rid of.

As soon as the call connected, Morty couldnโ€™t wait to ask, โ€œEaston, between you and Mrs. Hudson, did she initiate the divorce?โ€

If anyone was a scoundrel, it was definitely Morty, skilled in playing different faces in front of and behind people. Hearing him politely refer to her as Eastonโ€™s wife, in stark contrast to his earlier disdainful tone, made Ellis roll her eyes.

Just the other day, Morty had grilled her about whether her divorce was real, and today he was probing whether it was her idea. Easton, already running low on patience with Morty, responded icily, โ€œWhatโ€™s wrong with you?โ€

Their issues were their own, and he disliked others meddling, especially those who were overly talkative and lacked tact. Morty didnโ€™t have his phone on speaker, so Ellis couldnโ€™t hear Eastonโ€™s response. But seeing Mortyโ€™s expression shift slightly before he put away his phone and averted his gaze, she coolly asked, โ€œWhat did Easton say?โ€

Easton had uttered just three words before hanging up, and Morty, ignoring Ellis, turned and walked back towards the community.

Chasing after an answer, not trusting her, and running to that scumbag for confirmation. Is fleeing all he could manage when his mouth got him into trouble? Ellis scoffed dismissively and hailed a cab.

Contrary to Ellisโ€™s assumption, Morty wasnโ€™t fleeing; he just moved away to call Victoria. โ€œEaston finally shows signs of divorce. Donโ€™t screw this up. Move fast and seal the deal!โ€

Ellisโ€™s stubbornness about divorcing Easton was something Carly couldnโ€™t accept.

Thinking over it, dissolving Easton and Ellisโ€™s prenup and ensuring Ellis got a substantial settlement in the divorce seemed feasible, but before any good news came, a nightmare arrived first.

Suddenly, someone barged into the mansion, commanding, โ€œMs. Carly, you canโ€™t stay here any longer. You must move out today.โ€

The mansion was one of the Hudson familyโ€™s properties, where she had been born and raised. She had lived elsewhere when younger, but a few years ago, after her father moved to a mansion for his retirement, the mansion was vacated, and she moved back in.

Having lived there comfortably, being evicted by strangers was baffling. Carly asked in displeasure, โ€œAre you joking? Who are you people? Bursting into my homeโ€ฆโ€

Before she could finish, a document was shown to her; the other party stated matter-of-factly, โ€œThe deed is in Mr. Eastonโ€™s name! He instructed this. Please cooperate!โ€

Scott had divided the assets long ago, and Carly was unclear about the ownership of the mansion. Hearing it was given to Easton wasnโ€™t a surprise since he was a favored heir. What shocked her was Easton denying her residence there, especially after recalling that he had alsoโ€ฆ

Chapter 94: Unwelcome Revelations

Carly tried reaching Sophia multiple times without success, and, growing frustrated and anxious, she turned to call Ellis, โ€œEllis, whatโ€™s going on with you and Easton?โ€

Just back home from Petal Estates, Ellis received Carlyโ€™s call and was tempted to ignore it. Carly sounded clearly upset, and silence would only make her angrier. โ€œWeโ€ฆweโ€™re discussing divorce.โ€

โ€œEaston wonโ€™t let me stay in the mansion; did you know?โ€ Guessing Ellis probably didnโ€™t know, Carly scanned the people beside her and continued, โ€œCan you talk to Easton and find out whatโ€™s really going on?โ€

Easton wasnโ€™t just targeting her but also Carly. Ellis lay back on her bed, feeling utterly defeated. โ€œMs. Carly. Iโ€™m sorry: I just canโ€™t deal with him right now,โ€

Going to Easton would be like begging for mercy, wouldnโ€™t it? His arrogant demeanor, as if he controlled the fate of everything and everyone, treating her like an ant he could easily crush, was just revolting and infuriating. She wasnโ€™t about to grovel.

โ€œYou go to him, or should I?โ€ Carly frowned in dissatisfaction. โ€œHe wonโ€™t see me!โ€

โ€œHe probably wonโ€™t see me either! Andโ€”โ€ Ellis paused to think for a few seconds. โ€œYesterday at the Civil Affairs Department, everything was going smoothly until he suddenly stormed off. We even had a big fight.โ€

โ€œMs. Carly, maybe you could stay somewhere else temporarily?โ€

โ€œI have no other place! I love living in the mansion!โ€ Carly admitted it sincerely.

Over the years, her investments had continuously failed; properties were mortgaged and sold to settle bank loans. Crucially, the mansion was a grand, well-located property in Stonebridge, a place of good feng shui where she had lived comfortably.

โ€œMaybe you could stay in a hotel for a while?โ€ Ellis suggested, unable to think of a better solution.

After all, she couldnโ€™t possibly confront that scumbag to make him stop troubling Carly and leave the mansion for her.
