Chapter 97: A Reason to Hit You?

Looking at Victoria, Ellis realized she had never felt such disgust for anyone before. If there was a ranking for the most nauseating people, Easton and Victoria would tie for first place.

Ignoring Victoria, she turned to look for Jackson. She had no time to wait for that scumbag to finish his meeting; she needed to confront him now.

Unfortunately, after searching the entire executive office, there was no sign of Jackson. She had no choice but to ask around where the scumbag was holding his meeting.

Today, both Ellis and Victoria were at the company. Glancing back at Victoria, who followed her, Jackson stuttered, โ€œMs. Harper. Easton said youโ€™re clueless, and it really shows!โ€

Victoria crossed her arms. โ€œHeโ€™s in a meeting, and youโ€™re interrupting his work. Canโ€™t you just wait until heโ€™s done?โ€

Easton had the audacity to lecture me on being clueless, but what right did this other woman have to school me? Ellis felt her anger rising rapidly.

Turning around, she glared coldly at Victoria. โ€œMs. Victoria, is your tongue twisted, or is it just your skewed perception? Why do you address Easton as if youโ€™re so young? Trying to seem younger? Youโ€™re actually quite laughable!โ€

โ€œI grew up with Easton; Iโ€™ve always treated him like a big brother. Heโ€™s never had a problem with it. If you think thereโ€™s an issue, youโ€™re the funny one!โ€ Victoria dropped her arms, a smirk playing at her lips. โ€œMs. Harper seems quite upset; it must be because Easton wants a divorce, right?โ€

Under everyoneโ€™s watchful eyes, Ellis was not willing to lose face. Provoked by Victoria, she was furious. How much had that scumbag and this wench discussed? Could they just elope to the afterlife already?

Her gaze swept over the onlookers with their ears perked up for gossip; she managed to control her emotions and said calmly, โ€œSince Ms. Victoria brought it up, why donโ€™t we talk about it in private?โ€

โ€œSure!โ€ Victoria responded with a polite smile.

To Ellis, Victoriaโ€™s smile was utterly that of a classic wenchโ€”shamelessly breaking up families and publicly challenging the wife, all without a shred of shame. If it were ancient times, sheโ€™d throw both the wench and that scumbag into a pig cage and dump it in the river.

Walking one after the other back to Eastonโ€™s office, a hint of triumph flashed in Victoriaโ€™s eyes. The moment was coming for her to officially become Eastonโ€™s wife; she was confident in her victory.

Leading the way, Ellis stopped and turned back, โ€œClose the door.โ€

โ€œYou want a private chat, yet youโ€™re afraid of being overheard?โ€ Victoria didnโ€™t close the door, intentionally standing in the doorway.

Of course, Ellis didnโ€™t really want a private chat with Victoria. What could we possibly have to talk about? Victoria was here trying to assert her presence, parading around as the new Eastonโ€™s wife, unaware of how blind that scumbag was to treat someone like Victoria as his love.

โ€œEaston is right: you sometimes care about face, and sometimes you donโ€™t; you do as you please, embarrassing yourself and him.โ€ Victoria stood aside indifferently. โ€œEaston was forced to marry you, and he suffered for it.โ€

Victoriaโ€™s tone seemed sympathetic towards the scumbagโ€™s plight, but Ellis couldnโ€™t hold back. Easton always said she tested his patience, but he and Victoria were no less challenging to hers.

Her anger turned into action, and without thinking, she raised her hand and slapped Victoria hard across the face.

Slapping Victoria hard on the left cheek, she snapped, โ€œVictoria, Easton cheated with you, and I never troubled you for it. But you keep provoking me, treating me like a pushover? Who do you think you are? Youโ€™re still not his wife; what are you so proud of?โ€

If only that scumbag had agreed to a quick divorce without these recent schemes trying to torment her, she might have tolerated Victoria being the other woman.

By now, she had nothing to lose. While the scumbag was in a meeting, if I couldnโ€™t hit him, why not take it out on the other woman?

Even if word got out, she was in the right. Whatever Easton did to avenge Victoria afterward, he could just try.

Victoria, stunned by the slap, looked at Ellis, feeling the pain spread across her face quickly, then, enraged, attempted to hit back, โ€œEllis, you dare hit me!โ€

โ€œWhy not? Do I need a reason to hit you?โ€

Aware that Victoria wanted to retaliate, Ellis wasnโ€™t foolish enough to stand still and wait for her strike. After all, she had brought Victoria into the scumbagโ€™s office just to give her a well-deserved slap. She couldnโ€™t stand seeing Victoria so arrogant, especially compared to her own bleak future. Not slapping the other woman felt like a wasted trip.
