Sidney felt a chill run down his spine; his hair stood on end. He realized he’d said something he shouldn't have. He almost forgot this young girl was someone Richard wanted. Richard was known for his vengefulness. Sidney thought Richard might be secretly plotting revenge. He didn't even need to turn around to know he was in trouble. He looked at Tiffany with a strained smile, scrambling for a solution. "Um I'll drive you, but someone wants to see you, so please get in the car quickly."
Tiffany smiled at him as if he were a fool. Sidney wondered if he'd had a lucky escape as Tiffany got into the car. She wasn't surprised to see Richard. In her eyes, Richard and Sidney were inseparable friends; she was the third wheel. However, Tiffany’s face flushed at the memory of Richard calling her "my future wife's pet" without blinking yesterday. Of course, her crimson face didn't escape Richard's sharp gaze. He placed his hand on her forehead, as if checking her temperature.
Tiffany froze. The large palm was scorching hot. It took her a long time to regain her composure. She whispered, "I'm not feeling unwell."
"That's good," Richard said, slowly retracting his hand. His handsome face was serious.
Sidney, in the front seat, watched them with a knowing smile. Richard ignored him, turning to Tiffany with an unusual gentleness. "When are we going?"
Tiffany gave him the address. Then, she seemed to remember something and asked curiously, "Aren't you?" Richard was wearing a custom-made suit—a very formal outfit. Tiffany assumed he must be very busy.
Richard's expression remained unchanged. "I'm not busy."
Sidney, driving, heard this and twitched his mouth. Five minutes ago, Richard had said he was attending an important…
Chapter 107
"Looks like he changed his mind for a pretty face," Sidney thought. Tiffany didn't dwell on it; she nodded and remained silent.
Richard said, "Why don't you ask how Lucifer is doing at my place?"
"Come on, I saw Lucifer yesterday. Of course I know he's doing very well. In fact, out of fear and admiration for the strong, he's like a cat around you! The once powerful tiger has been tamed." Tiffany thought this, but didn't say it aloud. She raised her head and smiled. "Of course, he'll be well cared for by you. It's no problem."
"Then why haven't you visited him?"
This question gave Tiffany a strange feeling. It was as if a single father was complaining about the hardship of raising a child alone and the mother's neglect. This thought startled her. What was she thinking? She couldn't believe it. She raised her hand. "I was wrong. I'll definitely go see our ah, no, I'll see Lucifer this weekend!" She almost said the wrong thing. "I'll be there this weekend. I promise!"
Under Tiffany’s repeated assurances, Richard finally relented. "Alright, I'll send someone to pick you up this weekend." Once the deal was made, there was no changing it. Tiffany nodded.
After another five or six minutes, the car stopped at the bottom of a crowded, old apartment building. Zoe's family lived on the sixth floor. Tiffany got out, saying, "Wait for me here. I'll be down soon."
Without waiting for a reply, she entered the building. Reaching the sixth floor, she wasn't tired at all; her complexion and heart rate remained unchanged. She'd endured far harsher training. Climbing a building was easy.
Unexpectedly, Richard and Sidney followed her. In this simple building, these two striking men looked out of place. Sidney was like a gentle breeze, with a warm smile. Though sometimes foolish, he carried himself with pride and dignity. The same was true of Richard. He was exceptionally handsome. His custom-made suit accentuated his tall, majestic figure. He had the air of an emperor, commanding respect.
Tiffany wasn't uncomfortable with them following. She knocked on the door without hesitation.
A middle-aged man, smelling strongly of alcohol (presumably Zoe's father), opened it. Out of politeness, Tiffany asked, "Hello, sir. Is Zoe home? I'm her classmate…"
Before she could finish, the man interrupted impatiently. "She's not going to school. She's waiting to get married! What's the point of school? She might as well marry and raise her younger brother! Don't look for her again!"
He slammed the door. The wind ruffled Tiffany's hair.
As Tiffany was rejected, Richard's face darkened. He was about to act when he saw Tiffany laugh. Then, without a word, she kicked the door. The loud crash shook the ground. The door splintered and fell.
Sidney's eyes widened. He looked at Richard in horror. "She blows my mind! I finally see you two have the same personality. You're both badasses!"
Richard was speechless. He glanced at him and followed Tiffany inside. Since he couldn't charm Tiffany, he'd be her temporary bodyguard.
Tiffany stepped over the broken door and walked in arrogantly. "Where did you buy this door? The quality is so poor," she commented.
She'd barged into someone's house and complained about the door. Zoe's father's face paled; he shrank back. The loud crash had sobered him somewhat. He stammered, "Who are you? How dare you barge into my house?" His words trembled, lacking any intimidation.
Tiffany looked around. She didn't see Zoe in the living room, only a mother and son frozen at the dining table. The boy was a teenager, but his mother was still coaxing him to eat. Tiffany was amused. "You're planning to sell your daughter for this overgrown baby?" An 18-year-old girl forced to drop out of school and marry? Unacceptable.
Tiffany sneered and pushed open bedroom doors one by one. Finally, she found a small, locked room that wouldn't open. She forced it open. Light flooded in. She saw Zoe, weak and pale, on the bed…
