Selena felt guilty and explained, "Mr. Booth is quite good."
"Yeah, he's good," Sandra thought. "So good he doesn't hesitate to torture me in all kinds of ways!" She raised her head and laughed maniacally. "We're mother and daughter. We're both willing to go all out, even if the knife is stabbed into you or me, right?"
Her words sounded more like a soliloquy.
Selena panicked. "What's wrong with marrying into the Booth family? You've been trying to get close to Kenneth for the past two years, but he still ignored you. You have to accept reality. There's no hope of marrying into the Harper family now. You have to grasp the Booth family! Once you do, you'll be the only young mistress of the Booth family!"
Sandra sneered. "Can't you tell? Jordan, that idiot, won't marry me at all! He pursued me for so long because he couldn't get me."
Did Selena not know? Yes, she knew very well. However, in Selena's eyes, letting Sandra sacrifice a little in exchange for the $200,000 Jordan threw at her was a worthwhile deal. Therefore, she chose to push Sandra without hesitation.
"Your matters have nothing to do with me," Sandra said. "That's it. From now on, your"
Sandra endured the discomfort and stood up. She pushed Selena away, dressed, and left. She would treat what happened last night as a nightmare. She would return to the dormitory, shower, eat, and forget everything.
However, as she reached the school gate, more than ten tall, strong men blocked her way. They looked menacing and unlike ordinary hooligans; these men were clearly outlaws.
Sandra took two steps back, vigilant and flustered. "What are you doing?" she asked.
"Don't be afraid, girl. We won't attack you here. However, shouldn't your mother, Selena Olson, repay the debt she owes us?" A man slapped a piece of paper signed by Selena onto the ground. It stated a debt of $1.6 million, which, with interest, had ballooned to $2.6 million in just a month!
Sandra blurted out, "Why don't you guys go rob a bank?"
"Aren't we robbing?" One burly man smiled sinisterly. "But we're robbing openly. You can't deny it even if you want to."
Sandra's face darkened. "You've got the wrong person. I don't know Selena Olson. Don't come looking for me again."
She tried to leave but was slapped to the ground, rendered temporarily deaf, her head swimming with dizziness. She fell, terrified.
The burly man who slapped her looked down and mocked, "Do you think I'm here to politely ask for money? Little girl, don't be naive. If you can't pay the debt, you and your mother will pay with your lives, understand?" He patted the other side of her face. "A student from an aristocratic school should be able to come up with such a small amount of money, right?"
Sandra was terrified. "I have no money, but my Uncle Charlie has money. He's the boss of the Kelley Corporation. You can ask him for it."
The burly men looked mockingly unconvinced. Sandra was anxious; it was almost noon, and students would soon be leaving school. If they saw her being chased for debt, she would be humiliated.
She gritted her teeth. "If my Uncle Charlie is unwilling to give you the money, you can kidnap his son. Then, not to mention $2.4 million, even double that, he'll obediently give it to you!"
These people will be tempted by such a large sum, Sandra thought. This way, I can retaliate against the Kelley family and get rid of these debt collectors. Even if something happens to Eric, it has nothing to do with me! It's killing two birds with one stone!
However, the burly man sneered and slapped Sandra again! "I've seen the world. Are you, a little girl, trying to use a borrowed knife to kill someone? I'll give you two days. If I don't see the money in two days, I can only ask you and your mother torepay the debt." He pinched her chin and smiled fiercely. "Look at this face. It's not bad. It should be worth selling for 20 years"
"No!" cried Sandra.
She shook her head desperately and begged, "I'll think of a way to raise the money. Two days, just two days!"
"Okay," the burly man said readily. "Guys, retreat." The men left.
Sandra sat paralyzed, covered her face, and sobbed. Fortunately, no one passed by.
The debt collectors also sought Selena. Seeing her comfortable life in a high-end apartment, they sneered, beat her, and took the $100,000 check Jordan gave her. They gave Selena the same ultimatum: two days to pay or face the consequences.
Trembling in fear, Selena called Sandra. "Sandra, what's the plan you mentioned previously?"
Selena and Sandra had just broken up, but the debt bound them together, regardless of their grudges. They were bound together for better or worse.
However, Selena didn't notice Sandra's bright smile on the other end of the phone, her charming eyes filled with intense murderous intent. "Next, I want you to do this" Sandra said.
Boom. A dull thunder echoed in Lovell City, where it hadn't rained in a long time. Bean-sized raindrops fell. The sky was gray, the storm fierce and urgent.
In the studio, Tiffany's hands paused. The landscape painting she'd been working on was mostly destroyed by the heavy brushstrokes. Philip knocked on the table. "You haven't reported twice this week. It wasn't easy for me to catch you, but you're not focused!"
Tiffany felt aggrieved. She looked at the storm and muttered, "I wonder which scoundrel is cursing to make an honest person like me suffer."
Philip's eyes twitched. You're the first unreliable person. Do you think you can criticize others? he thought.
Tiffany chuckled and replaced the drawing paper. "Mr. Fremont, don't be angry. I'll draw properly." She abandoned her uneasiness and focused. Under Philip's tutelage, Tiffany improved rapidly. Although she only reported to him a few times a week and often angered him, Philip couldn't bear to give up such a talented student. Seeing her quickly adjust and draw, he was inwardly gratified.
After an afternoon in the studio, Tiffany left after Philip checked her work. Her chauffeur waited at the school gate. Tiffany got in. "Let's go." She had lied about staying on campus the past few days; she'd been making medicine at Luna Villa. If she didn't go home soon, her family would worry.
