Listen to this chapter:

Jeremy saw through Tiffany’s thoughts and was terrified. He roared, “No!” But it was too late. Tiffany, always decisive, acted instantly, rushing forward like the wind.

The tripwires showed no mercy. A constant click-click followed her path. In an instant, Jeremy’s eyes widened. Two wooden boards, lined with hidden knives, were closing in on Tiffany! If she were caught, she’d be instantly riddled with blades. Other tripwires were also activating. Even Tiffany’s skill might not be enough to withstand so many at once.

Jeremy’s eyes were bloodshot. He roared, “No!” But it was too late. The boards slammed together! Jeremy’s eyes bulged. He almost knelt, but his chains held him fast.

Silence fell. The tripwires had retreated. The person who set them…

Jeremy’s eyes were scarlet, his throat choked. He could only feel self-blame and grief. Tears welled, blurring his vision.

Then, cracking sounds. The wooden board split apart from within! Seconds later, Tiffany emerged unscathed, sneering, “Poor quality tripwires.”

Jeremy was speechless. He was dumbfounded. Had he wasted his tears?

Tiffany brushed herself off and approached Jeremy. With a flick of her switchblade, she severed his chains.

Chapter 169

No more tripwires activated. Jeremy was incredulous. “You… you destroyed them?”

“Yes,” Tiffany blinked. “What else did you think?”

Jeremy choked. He stared at her in astonishment and admiration. He’d assumed the tripwires retracted automatically after disabling the intruder. He hadn’t imagined she’d destroyed them forcefully!

“How did you know they were in the last board?” he asked. He’d expected some secret technique or prior experience. He was wrong.

Tiffany shrugged. “I guessed. A lucky guess.”

Jeremy almost fainted. A lucky guess? If she hadn't… he thought, I'd be dead!

He was angry and terrified. However, he was never eloquent. After a long silence, he finally said, “I have reasons for being in Lovell City. I’m looking for someone… very important to me.” It was his mission. A mission he had to complete.

Tiffany instantly understood he was revealing his origins. His identity and background were always a mystery. He’d never spoken of them before. But he was telling her. It was trust.

Tiffany smiled. “Who are you looking for? Need my help?”

“No,” Jeremy shook his head. “I don’t even know who I’m looking for. Maybe I’ll meet them someday.”

“What if you never do?”

“Then I’ll spend my life looking.”

Typical Jeremy, she thought. “Then what’s this place? Why are you imprisoned? Is your captor an enemy?”

Chapter 109

“I guess so,” Jeremy admitted, slightly confused himself. His special identity made him a target. He couldn't understand why he wasn’t killed this time.

“Let’s get out of here,” Tiffany said, helping him to his feet. She placed his hand on her shoulder and guided him out.

Outside, June, waiting anxiously, was about to drive in when the gate opened, and Tiffany and Jeremy emerged.

“Everything alright?” June asked, rushing to open the car door.

Tiffany helped Jeremy into the backseat. Turning, she saw June staring blankly. “June? What’s wrong?”

“Oh, nothing,” June replied, getting into the driver’s seat. The car sped away, leaving only fading taillights.

After a while, a tall figure emerged from the darkness, their eyes devoid of light.

Jeremy’s injuries were serious, but Tiffany’s supplies ensured his survival. After treating him, she returned to her room. She’d saved Kenneth accidentally. The thought angered her. If she’d known, she would have left.

She sighed, falling onto her bed. Checking her computer, she saw a news article: [Young Master of The Harper Family Attacked! Life in Danger After Emergency Treatment!]

That scoundrel, she thought. Closing the page, she opened her uploaded story, surprised by the increased views and comments. Feeling better, she wrote and uploaded thousands of words that night.

The next morning, the Harper family contacted Miracle Healer – for Kenneth, of course. Though Sidney had saved him, Felicia, desperate for his recovery, sought Miracle Healer's help.

Tiffany initially refused but decided to take advantage of the situation.

She went to the hospital. Felicia sat by Kenneth's bedside, peeling fruit, overjoyed that Miracle Healer agreed to see her son. She gasped when she saw Tiffany. The legendary Miracle Healer is a delicate girl?

Tiffany remained calm. June stepped forward. “Hello, Mrs. Harper. This is my master, Jacqueline Wood. If the remuneration is agreeable, she can begin acupuncture.” The novel's website address was again included.
