The trip to Misty Ridge was smoother than expected. The next morning, they boarded a plane and returned to Lovell City. Tiffany, eager to prepare medicine, immediately went to Luna Villa. She worked in the basement for three consecutive days. Emerging exhausted but successful, she held a small porcelain bottle containing a medicine that could alleviate Thalia's headaches. Although doctors had diagnosed Thalia's headaches as a psychological condition, this medicine would prevent the debilitating pain that previously required painkillers.
Relieved, Tiffany hurried home, only to find an unfamiliar car parked in the courtyard. She recognized the driver as a Harper family member. Could Kenneth have arrived? Impossible, she thought. Suspicious, she entered the house. In the living room, Melody and Thalia were chatting amiably.
Tiffany smirked. Only a few days away, and someone's already visiting? she mused, noticing nutritional supplements piled nearby. No doubt Melody brought them.
The women stopped talking as Tiffany entered. Thalia exclaimed, "You're back? I thought you were staying on campus."
Melody chimed in, "Staying on campus? I thought Tiffany took a week off." Seeing Tiffany's faint smile, Melody quickly apologized, stammering, "I'm sorry, I misspoke."
Tiffany's smile widened. She's already feeling guilty, and I haven't even said anything, she thought. "So, you came to show concern for my family?" she asked.
Melody explained nervously, "Mrs. Harper's healthI brought supplements. They help with headachesI'm sorry, I was forward."
An outsider is more considerate than I am, Tiffany thought, sneering. She'd never tolerated such behavior, from Sandra or Melody. "Elsa, throw them out!" she commanded.
Elsa complied, but Thalia intervened, "Put them down! She was being kind."
Melody, looking pitiful, apologized again before hurrying out to the waiting car. The driver, noticing her tears, discreetly messaged Kenneth.
Back in the villa, Thalia reproached Tiffany gently. Tiffany leaned forward, "Mom, interact with her less. She's like Sandra—she even stole my manuscript!"
Thalia was shocked, "Really? She doesn't seem like that." She's so obedient and considerate, Thalia thought, her eyes betraying a hint of sadness.
"Just do as I say," Tiffany insisted. "We don't need her 'kindness,' especially since it might be connected to the Harpers. Let's keep our distance."
Tiffany sighed, revealing her own worry. Thalia laughed, "My wise little princess! What's with the sigh? I'll do as you say."
"Good," Tiffany said, producing an elixir pill. "Here, Mom."
Thalia swallowed it. A wave of warmth spread through her body, clearing her mind. "What is this?" she asked, amazed.
"An elixir pill," Tiffany replied, weaving a partially truthful story about obtaining it from Miracle Healer. The mention of Miracle Healer instantly reassured Thalia.
"You took leave from school to get this?" Thalia asked incredulously.
Tiffany nodded, omitting the perilous details of her Misty Ridge trip. She casually mentioned a friend's help.
Thalia’s eyes welled with tears. "Silly child," she whispered, touching Tiffany's head. "From now on, I'll let go of this burden."
Tiffany was stunned, but Thalia’s smile radiated renewed confidence and beauty.
Exhausted after three sleepless nights, Tiffany went upstairs, only to find three missed calls. Ignoring them, she lay down, her phone ringing again.
"Hello? Can I help you?" she answered, her voice husky.
Kenneth, on the other end, stammered. Tiffany repeated impatiently, "Who is this?" It's rude to disturb someone's sleep! she thought. Just as she was about to hang up, Kenneth finally said, "Tiffany, Melody was being kind. Don't bully her."
