Chapter 298
Tiffany Kelley examined the list. When she saw Melody Princeton's name, her eyes glinted. The assassins couldn't have compiled such a list without a basis. Therefore, they must have thoroughly investigated each target beforehand.
Did this mean there was something suspicious about Melody's background? Wasn't it too much of a coincidence?
Tiffany frowned and handed the list to Jeremy Cooper. "Take this. It may be useful."
Jeremy had remained in Lovell City to locate the young princess. This list might assist him. He accepted the list. After putting it away, he remained silent for the rest of the journey.
After the earlier events, Tiffany had a splitting headache. She leaned back and closed her eyes to rest.
Suddenly, a bullet whizzed past, piercing the car's windshield and heading straight for Tiffany's forehead. Even though Tiffany's car was moving fast, the sniper's aim was precise.
Tiffany's eyes snapped open as she dodged sideways. Pow! The bullet pierced her seat, leaving a hole. That was close!
This sudden attack caused June to swerve the car. Jeremy said in a deep voice, "Don't stop. Accelerate. There's a sniper on the mountain opposite us."
The opposite mountain was very close to Royal Bay, implying someone connected to Royal Bay wanted Tiffany dead.
Unfazed, Tiffany switched places with Jeremy, despite his initial objections. She sat in the outermost seat, making herself the primary target.
On a nearby hill, Yvonne Shaw smiled scornfully. This arrogant girl! Did she think a sniper could miss? Yvonne would prove her wrong.
Yvonne adjusted her aim, focusing on Tiffany's forehead through the scope. A perfect shot. Confident in her marksmanship, she waited for the next opportunity.
To her surprise, Tiffany raised her head and gave Yvonne a sinister smile.
Yvonne's heart skipped a beat. Had her location been discovered?
Before she could react, she saw Tiffany loading an arrow into her bow inside the car, the arrowhead aimed directly at her. Tiffany swiftly and expertly nocked the arrow. Her exquisite face was chillingly murderous. She focused on a point, raising her chin slightly; her expression was calm, but ruthless killing intent filled her eyes.
So this sniper thought he was skillful and infallible? Tiffany snorted scornfully. Brimming with rage, she drew her bow and fired three arrows simultaneously without blinking.
Yvonne heard the sound of flesh being pierced. She couldn't dodge in time. Three arrows in rapid succession—she didn't even have time to react between shots. One grazed her arm, another pierced her shoulder blade, and the third sliced past her face, leaving a trail of blood.
Yvonne was incredulous. She was proud of her marksmanship, the very reason for her position. She never expected a girl like Tiffany Kelley to be so ruthless and possess superior archery skills. Her movements seemed random yet lethal. Considering the limited night vision, strong winds, and Yvonne's concealment, the arrows could have easily deviated. Yet, Tiffany's every shot was filled with immense fury. This was the mark of a true expert.
Yvonne fell to the ground in pain and disbelief. She had lost to a mere girl?
After firing the arrows, the car was already far away. Tiffany wasn't concerned about the sniper's condition. She stared blankly at the Galaxy bow in her hand—a gift from Richard Hampton. Should she return this bow, too, after returning the bracelet? It would be a pity, now that she'd mastered it.
Tiffany leaned back quietly.
As June drove, she asked, "Is it one of those assassins again? They still haven't given up!"
"No. That mountain is very close to Royal Bay," Tiffany replied indifferently. Further explanation was unnecessary.
June understood. The assassins were badly injured. Even if some survived, they wouldn't seek death under such circumstances. The sniper was from Royal Bay. Identifying who remained an intriguing question.
June glanced at Tiffany in the rearview mirror and remained silent until they arrived at Cedar Ridge Villa. "Miss Kelley, we've arrived."
After exiting the car, Tiffany instructed, "If anyone asks for medicine over the next few days, don't refuse them. As long as they can pay, accept them all."
Many sought the Miracle Healer's help, but she didn't accept every patient. Now, things were different. She needed money and power. She wouldn't stop until she rose higher.
June acknowledged.
Before entering the villa, Tiffany checked the exterior. The driveway was clean; no trace of the battle. She was glad she'd arranged protection for her family; it ensured the assassins' rapid elimination.
Tiffany entered. The living room lights were on. Three figures huddled on the sofa, clearly dozing but waiting for her return. She felt a lump in her throat.
The night seemed long. Tiffany blinked back tears and hugged them. "I'm back."
Charlie Kelley woke first. "Gosh, my precious daughter is back! Why are you so late? Tired from classes?"
"Mm-hmm. A little tired," Tiffany nodded, her smile strained.
Charlie didn't suggest she drop out of school. He told the servant, "Quick, prepare a hot bath." Then he patted Tiffany's head. "Sweetie, go take a bath and have a good sleep."
"Okay." She smiled, her heart warming.
Eric Kelley rubbed his eyes and hugged Tiffany. "You're back!" Then he noticed something was wrong. He felt her flinch slightly. "Tiffany, are you feeling unwell?"
"No." Tiffany had treated her injuries and put on fresh clothes before entering. The injuries from the fight were concealed by her long-sleeved coat and pants.
Despite this, Thalia Kelley's sharp senses detected the scent of blood. She reached out to pull up Tiffany's sleeve. "Let me take a look. Are you hurt?"
"No," Tiffany evaded her mother's touch. "I'm going to take a bath first. There was a school event today, and I'm a little tired. Dad, Mom, Eric, you should go to bed too!"
She slipped away. The servant had already drawn her bath. She locked the door before undressing and entering the tub.
The hot water cleansed her exhausted body. The injuries ached, but not as much as the hollow emptiness she felt…
Tiffany closed her eyes and fell into a deep sleep. She had a chaotic dream, filled with complete darkness. She walked aimlessly, figures appearing before her, but no one seemed to notice her…
