Chapter 303

Tiffany lowered her head and subconsciously tightened her grip on the blanket.

Jeremy continued, “There’s not a single person in Lovell City who could injure him to this extent. What do you think?”

Tiffany’s head snapped up. Jeremy was right. In fact, not a single person in the whole world could injure Richard Hamptori. He had so many subordinates, and he possessed his own superpower. Who could injure him? Who would dare?

Moreover, the timing was uncanny. It happened on that very…

Tiffany tossed the blanket aside and got up. She hurriedly put on her shoes, jumped out the window, and went in pursuit.

Jeremy remained where he was, as still as death. There were no pedestrians on the streets at this late hour. It was still drizzling, and the yellow streetlights cast long shadows.

Tiffany followed the path Richard had taken, but the luxurious black car had long disappeared. She couldn’t possibly run after him on foot. She was very frustrated. She decided that when she returned from the mountains this time, she had to learn how to drive. She couldn't depend on a driver every time she wanted to go out.

She sighed and turned to go back. On her way back, she caught sight of a black tabby cat running off. Black… black tabby? Tiffany frowned. She suddenly recalled the time she flew to the small border town in Misty Ridge to look for medicinal herbs. She had been pushed down the rocky slopes and saw that man in the pool. The mysterious man also had an identical black tabby perched on his shoulder.

Tiffany didn’t hesitate and immediately went after the black tabby. However, the black tabby was too quick. Tiffany almost lost it several times. Fortunately, she relied on the faint sandalwood scent on the cat to keep up. The cat finally ran into a brightly lit villa.

Oddly enough, the design of this villa was the same as the castle she had seen in the small border town. It was highly unlikely that two identical castle-like buildings with identical black tabbies could exist at the same time. Tiffany became suspicious. Was this castle-like villa connected to the man she had met at Misty Ridge?

Chapter 303

At this moment, the villa's door suddenly opened. Tiffany leaped away and hid behind a wall. From this vantage point, she could see the movements at the villa clearly, but it was difficult for anyone inside to notice her.

The resplendent door slowly opened, and a beautiful and arrogant young girl walked out, surrounded by servants. Tiffany’s eyes widened. That familiar face and figure belonged to someone she would recognize even if the other party turned to ashes: Sandra Olson.

“She didn’t die?” Tiffany couldn’t believe her eyes. Shocked, all the doubts and questions that had been troubling her were answered. No wonder she was suddenly pushed by someone when picking medicinal herbs on the rocky slopes of Misty Ridge. That person was Sandra Olson. No wonder no one could locate the culprit; no one would suspect a dead person. There was also the fellow tossing rocks that night to lure Ged Moody away, and the woman who had driven the Hummer into Ged… Now that all the pieces were in place, everything made sense.

Tiffany’s whole body tensed. She got her switchblade ready. She wanted to rush out and kill Sandra Olson!

At this moment, she heard a meow behind her—very close. Tiffany swung around and caught sight of the black tabby, which had snuck up from behind. What was more alarming, under the shade of a tree, a man stood quietly with a vague expression. The black tabby leaped nimbly onto the man’s shoulder.

A man and a cat appeared out of nowhere at such a late hour. It was both creepy and surreal. However, Tiffany sensed that this man was very powerful. He had appeared behind her without warning. If he had wanted to kill her, he could have easily done so before she could even deal with Sandra.

Cold sweat broke out on Tiffany’s back. The man spoke in a hoarse voice, carrying a hint of amusement: “You’re a little fearful of me.”

Tiffany looked at him warily. “You used your cat to lure me here, didn’t you?”

After thinking for a while, she realized this man must have lured her here to let her see with her own eyes that Sandra Olson was not dead.

“Yes,” the man said, not denying it.

He moved closer, smiling. “You’re very smart. I think highly of you.” His attitude and tone suggested he was watching two tiny pet beetles fight, seeing who would win and lose. How vexing!

As the man got closer, Tiffany raised her switchblade, saying firmly, “Stay away from me.”

The man didn’t stop. Instead, he changed direction and walked towards his castle. As he passed, two words floated to Tiffany’s ears on the night breeze: “Felix Quaid.”

“Is that his name?” Tiffany wondered. She put away her weapon. The irrational thought of killing Sandra had receded. It seemed she had to change her plan to enter the mountains tomorrow to lure the snake from its hole.

There was something she didn’t understand, though. This man, Felix Quaid, put in so much effort to save Sandra. Why did he want Tiffany to know Sandra wasn’t dead? Could it be that he just wanted to toy with her and Sandra and watch them fight? Myriad thoughts swirled through Tiffany’s mind.

The next morning, the rain that lasted all night finally stopped. It was the day of the mountain field trip. Early in the morning, many vehicles were parked in front of the school gate. Angel Love Charity was the organizer of this charity event, and their trucks were packed with supplies: books, school bags, clothes, food, and other necessities—six large trucks’ worth. The school also provided part of the funding.

Kenneth Harper was participating. To ensure their precious heir didn’t suffer any hardships, the Harper family had arranged a fleet of extra-long luxury MPVs to ferry him there, along with several private doctors.

Zoe Stevens had never liked Kenneth. When she saw his entourage, she grumbled softly, “What’s with all this fanfare! Those who didn’t know might think that all our supplies were donated by them…” Zoe was in charge of the charitable foundation’s accounts, so she knew the value of the supplies.

In the past, Ged Moody would have nodded in agreement. But now, his playful voice could no longer be heard. Coincidentally, today was the day Ged was to be laid to rest. Zoe’s eyes turned red-rimmed, and she almost wept.

Tiffany patted her shoulder and said calmly, “Don’t dwell on it. Get in. Some scores will be settled eventually. Whether it’s righting an injustice or taking a life for a life, she would exact the appropriate payback.”

As the two girls got into the car, Tiffany sensed something and raised her head, locking eyes with Melody Princeton. The gleeful glint in Melody’s eyes didn’t escape Tiffany. So this girl was gloating. ‘Let’s see how long you can gloat,’ Tiffany thought with narrowed eyes.
