Chapter 322

Tiffany stood like a slender but tough pine tree; even the strong wind couldn't break her. She looked divine, inspiring awe in Melody.

Melody stared blankly. She had bumped into Tiffany, as planned, but to her disappointment, the trick failed. Losing her chance, Melody unwillingly stepped back and said, “Oh dear, I’m sorry. I slipped and bumped into you.”

She believed Tiffany would let it go; otherwise, Tiffany would be overreacting.

Unexpectedly, Tiffany slowly turned and said coolly, “That night, you pushed Ged like this, right?”

Melody shuddered, too shocked to reply. Looking at Tiffany’s clear, scrutinizing eyes, she suddenly recalled that night. "I don’t know what you’re talking about," Melody hastened to deny.

Tiffany’s gaze was cold as she continued slowly, “He could have left safely, but he returned to save you. At that moment, did you change your mind?”

Melody sneered. “He was stupid enough to come back for me.” With that, she turned to leave.

However, a strong force from behind made Melody’s head spin. Before she knew it, Tiffany had struck her down.

“What are you doing?” Melody panicked, struggling with all her might. Tiffany, without a word, pressed her head into the surging flood.

“Ah! Save—” Melody screamed, choking several times before finishing her cry for help. She felt she was drowning and would die. Only then did Tiffany release her expressionlessly.

“He was not stupid. He went back to save you because he had a conscience. But you bit the hand that fed you!” Tiffany said angrily. "You deserve this!"

“No… I didn’t…” Melody denied it, struggling desperately. Hearing this, Tiffany pressed Melody’s head down into the water again.

“Think, think carefully. You killed Jade with your own hands, and Ged died because of you. Don’t you feel guilty? Have they ever haunted you in the middle of the night?”

Melody pulled her head out of the water. She seemed to have gone crazy, laughing hysterically.

“Who are you to judge me? You’re the one who should feel guilty. If it weren’t for you, they might still be alive!” Melody suddenly shouted. “You are the biggest jinx!”

“You think so?” Tiffany dug in her ear as if to make sure she’d heard correctly. She let go of Melody, and in a split second, the surging flood swept her away.

Not far away, Kenneth happened to walk by. Seeing this, he was instantly terrified. He rushed over, taking off his coat to jump in and save Melody. “How could you do that? Tiffany, I’m really disappointed in you,” he said sternly.

Just as Kenneth was about to jump, Zoe, who had witnessed everything, threw a rope to him and said coldly, “I hope you’ll never know Melody’s true colors. Otherwise, you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.”

After saying that, Zoe wiped her tears and left with Tiffany. Zoe had heard everything; Melody was involved in Ged’s death. If anger hadn’t been tempered by sanity, Zoe would have thrown away the rope tied to Melody.

Kenneth stood rooted to the ground, frowning. More than one person had warned him about this. However, he hadn’t taken it seriously; he just wanted to save Melody.

The second he noticed the rope shaking in his hand, its other end still in the water, he gave it a big yank. Melody was splashing in the water. Soon, she was pulled back to the field. Tiffany had only been teaching her a lesson; otherwise, she wouldn't have tied the rope before letting Melody fall.

Melody was wet and disheveled. Her eyes were red as she threw herself into Kenneth’s arms and cried until her voice was hoarse. “I was so scared…”

Kenneth put his coat over her and said gently, “It’s all right. You’re safe now.”

Melody choked and said, “Kenneth, you saw it too. I didn’t provoke Tiffany. It was Tiffany who tried to hurt me. Time and time again, she wants me dead.”

“I’m sorry…” Kenneth’s hands clenched into fists, his expression darkening. “I will stand up for you. This time, she has indeed gone too far!”

Melody sobbed pitifully. He said, “I’ll take you back.” Kenneth bent down to scoop up Melody and strode towards the lodging.

Unknown to them, Sandra had been watching: Tiffany forcing Melody to drink floodwater after Melody’s plan failed, and Kenneth’s disgusted and angry questioning of Tiffany. ‘But all this is not enough,’ Sandra thought with a cold smile. She had once experienced the feeling of being abandoned by everyone. Now, she wanted Tiffany to suffer the same pain. Her lips curled into a wicked smile, and she quietly left Melvor Mountain for Cedar Ridge Villa.

After carrying Melody back, Kenneth immediately called his private doctor to examine her. Fortunately, she was fine, except for a few small cuts from stones. Even so, Kenneth still went angrily to the village chief’s house to denounce Tiffany and make her apologize to Melody.

However, just as he reached the village chief’s courtyard, he was stopped by John and the Hampton family’s men.

John asked expressionlessly, “Mr. Harper, what’s the matter?” His tone made the hidden message clear—speak or leave.

Kenneth choked. John was Kenneth’s uncle’s henchman. He hadn’t expected his uncle to return to Lovell City without John—John was left to keep Tiffany safe.

John had a lot of authority in the Hampton family; he could mobilize an army if he wanted. Even Kenneth had to be polite.

John’s presence means that Tiffany is far more important to my uncle than I imagined, Kenneth thought.

So he held back his anger and replied, “I’m looking for Tiffany.” Then he rushed inside. John didn’t move, only ordering, “Throw him out.”

Upon the order, a group of well-trained subordinates chased Kenneth away, grabbing him by the arm and throwing him out without hesitation.

“You bunch of…” Kenneth was livid. No one had ever treated him like this. However, facing John, Kenneth knew he couldn’t strike back.

With burning anger, Kenneth shouted through the courtyard wall, “Tiffany, come out! I know you’re inside. Come out!”
