Chapter 404
Romeo had high hopes for his grandson, Kenneth, and Kenneth had largely exceeded them. A few years ago, he'd mastered the family business's strategies and quickly rose to a management position. Everyone praised Kenneth as a refined and talented gentleman.
However, personally, he was indecisive, easily swayed by fleeting emotionsโa weakness that often plagued him.
Kenneth explained, โGrandpa, I agreed to the ten-day promise because Melody is dying, soโฆโ
Romeo Harper sighed. โYouโre so easily manipulated. You gave your heart to Tiffany back then; you wouldn't regret your actions now.โ
When young, Kenneth had prioritized image over substanceโa great pity, as this hindered his chances with Tiffany by the time he matured. Fate, it seemed, enjoyed a cruel sense of humor.
โWhatever,โ Romeo muttered, turning and leaving the study.
Kenneth remained seated, pondering his grandfather's words. Had he been more patient with Tiffany, things might have turned out differently. But it was too late. He smiled wryly and returned to his room, lost in thought. The night remained peaceful, for now.
Chapter 401
It was autumn, and the days were growing colder. A recent autumn rain left the air chilly and damp. Tiffany turned, entered her room, grabbed a coat, and drove to the studio. It was the weekend, and she'd promised Abbie a visit, having missed several previous appointments. Another missed visit would likely unleash a barrage of calls from Abbie and Zoe.
Upon arrival, Zoe was waiting at the entrance. Seeing Tiffany exit her car, she waved excitedly. "Tiffany, I'm here!"
Tiffany smiled. "Yes, I see you." It was hard to miss such an enthusiastic greeter.
Zoe chuckled, running to link arms with Tiffany. They walked to Abbie's shooting location, arriving just as Abbie was filming an intimate scene. An actor from the same production had already kissed Abbie; the scene was silent, with the director showing no sign of calling "Cut."
"Ahhh!" Zoe gasped, practically bouncing with excitement. "How does it feel to live my dream?"
Tiffany was confused. "Are you happy or mad?" she asked.
"Of course I'm happy! Tiffany, did you know Abbie is kissing Alexis Renner? He debuted this year, became famous overnight after a supporting role in a movie, and this is only his second lead role!"
"And?" Tiffany prompted.
"He's Abbie's scandal partner!" Zoe exclaimed, chuckling.
Tiffany remembered the recent uproar surrounding Abbie's rumored relationship. Photos of her entering a hotel with a male co-star had fueled widespread speculation, ultimately revealed as a publicity stunt.
Looking at Zoe's gleeful expression, Tiffany asked, "You're actually rooting for them?"
"Yes!" Zoe nodded enthusiastically. "They're perfect together. Don't you think, Tiffany?"
Tiffany didn't answer. The director yelled "Cut!" Abbie's kiss hadn't been passionate enough; she wasn't in character. She'd been resisting Alexis's advances, perhaps exhausted from previous scenes, so the director gave the actors a break, chatting with Abbie briefly before returning to his seat.
In Abbie's motorhome, Tiffany and Zoe sat with Nevaeh and two assistants, who served them coffee โ a thoughtful gesture from Tiffany, who had bought coffee for the entire crew.
Tiffany sipped her coffee and casually asked, "Nevaeh, how many takes of that kiss have they done?"
"Six, seven including just now," Nevaeh replied awkwardly. Abbie, an award-winning actress, was struggling with the scene, especially with Tiffany's presence. Nevaeh worried about Tiffany's impression, but her concerns proved unfounded.
A few minutes later, Abbie returned, rushing over to Tiffany with a look of surprise. "You heartless bastard! You finally have time to visit!"
The aloof movie queen transformed into a playful child in front of Tiffany, much to the silent astonishment of everyone present. Thankfully, they were alone in the motorhome.
Tiffany smiled. "I was busy, but now I can come whenever I want. Here, I brought this for you." She handed Abbie a latte.
Abbie eagerly took the drink, sipping through the straw. Pumpkin spice latteโher favorite.
Zoe chimed in, "Abbie, are you and Alexis dating?"
Abbie nearly choked on her drink.
