With a flick of her wrist, Tiffany sent a coin flying with pinpoint accuracy, striking the maid's leg. The maid instinctively staggered back, losing her balance at the pool's edge and tumbling into the water with a loud splash. Her chin struck the pool's edge, causing a sharp pain.
Tiffany casually withdrew her hand, affecting an innocent expression.
The atmosphere grew tense. Morwen stared at the soaked maid, her face burning with embarrassment. As an esteemed Saintess of the Azure Sea Royal Family, Morwen couldn't afford this humiliation. She scolded those nearby. "Well, what are you waiting for? Get this fool out of here! To fall like that, unprovoked, was utterly ridiculous!"
The maid's chin was swollen and red. Once helped from the pool, she protested, "I didn't just fall—something hit me!" She spotted the coin. "Miss Xanthus, this hit me! I only fell when I stepped back accidentally!"
Morwen frowned. Who here has the skill to use a mere coin to knock a maid into the water in front of so many people? she thought. The precision, strength, and timing were far beyond most people's reach.
The maid tried to explain further when a melodious laugh rang out. Everyone looked up to see Tiffany's cold gaze and mocking smile. "Did you come all this way just to cause trouble?" she said slowly.
The maid fell silent, retreating to the side.
Morwen, utterly embarrassed, apologized. "I truly apologize. It's my fault for being too lenient and not managing the servants properly."
Tiffany thought, Servants? Her condescension mirrored the Saintess's high status. She smiled subtly but remained silent.
Seeing the crowd and cars, Charlie got straight to the point. "I wonder what brings you here?"
Morwen responded evasively, "As a guest from afar, Mr. Kelley, you should at least invite me in for a cup of coffee."
"Then please, come in," Charlie said, always open-minded, especially when unsure of the other party's intentions. He knew it was unwise to provoke hostility without cause.
The Kelleys' servants opened the door, and Morwen entered Cedar Ridge Villa with graceful strides, followed by two maids and bodyguards. However, after witnessing the incident, they behaved respectfully. Soon, coffee arrived. Intrigued by the aroma, Morwen lifted her head before sipping. "Miss Kelley, what is this coffee called?"
"Matcha latte," Tiffany replied instantly.
Morwen paused, wondering if there was a hint of insult, but couldn't pinpoint it. Frowning, she continued, "I've heard that Miss Kelley is known as the most beautiful woman in Lovell City. Seeing you today, it's truly a well-deserved reputation." Usually, such a compliment would elicit a shy smile and a disclaimer. Tiffany, however, was different.
"Of course," she replied with absolute confidence.
Morwen was momentarily taken aback but couldn't refute the statement; Tiffany possessed the confidence and audacity to back it up.
Charlie, sitting nearby, felt perplexed. Morwen had come to discuss his company's acquisition, yet her comments were directed at Tiffany, leaving him unsure of her intentions. Just as he was pondering this, Morwen spoke again. "Miss Kelley, you—"
Charlie interrupted. "My daughter has a beautiful appearance and unparalleled grace; do you have any other questions?"
Morwen fell silent. Charlie's protectiveness halted her probing. She shifted her focus. "Mr. Kelley, please don't misunderstand. I feel a good connection with your daughter. I believe you've heard that the Saintess of the Azure Sea Royal Family possesses the most accurate divination abilities. Why not allow me to perform a reading for Miss Kelley? All I need is her date of birth."
Such an opportunity was highly sought after. Confident in her offer, Morwen was taken aback by Charlie's stern reply. His tone brooked no argument. "Thank you, but that won't be necessary."
Morwen's maids spoke up indignantly. "Our Saintess is offering her services, and this is how you respond? Truly ungrateful…"
Tiffany shot a cold glare. "Who are you calling ungrateful?"
The maids fell silent, trembling with fear. Tiffany's calm demeanor masked a sharp, icy glint in her eyes.
Charlie, impatient with the vague exchanges, asked directly, "Miss Xanthus, you are here regarding my company, right? Let's not beat around the bush. I will not sell the company."
He asserted firmly that he would never hand over his life's work to an outsider. He intended to leave it to Tiffany and Eric.
Morwen remained unfazed. "Mr. Kelley, are you sure? I can offer a price above market value, guaranteeing all current employees remain. You won't incur any losses; the price is several times the market value—an amount you could never spend in a lifetime. Are you certain?"
Charlie shook his head. "Send the guest out."
A maid politely but firmly gestured for Morwen and her party to leave. "Please take care."
Rejected twice in one day, Morwen felt utterly humiliated, her composure crumbling. She bit her tongue in frustration.
