Chapter 463
Grelle smiled innocently. “No, you’ve misunderstood. The person who sent me was just a driver.”
Someone asked, “So, did you admit you have a boyfriend?”
“No, but I like him,” Grelle admitted frankly. A determined glint shone in her eyes. “I believe I can win him over! When that day comes, I’ll definitely tell you all. I won’t hide anything.” The other girls laughed at Grelle’s words.
They conjectured that the person Grelle wanted to win over was probably a wealthy, older CEO with a good family background. This was the quickest way for a newcomer to become famous. However, not everyone was willing to take such a shortcut.
The girls exchanged glances, their jealousy subsiding. Some mocked Grelle; others looked down on her. They replied jokingly, “Alright, you said it.” “Of course.” Grelle lowered her head shyly. ‘Laugh all you want. One day, I will be the envy of every woman in Lovell City!’
In Luna Villa, June stopped the car and turned to see Tiffany asleep in the backseat. Tiffany hadn’t rested properly since leaving Lovell City for the Azure Sea Royal Family three days prior. They’d been ambushed on the way, everyone falling into a stream. June didn't know what happened afterward, but the numerous wounds on Tiffany’s face and body spoke of a difficult journey.
June sighed softly, went to the backseat, opened the door, and gently pushed Tiffany’s shoulder. “Miss Kelley? Miss Kelley? We’re here. Go back to your room and sleep.” Tiffany didn’t respond.
Suspicious, June touched Tiffany’s forehead. It was burning hot. ‘Oh no, she’s too tired and hasn’t rested. Her body can’t take it, no matter how strong she is.’ June carried Tiffany from the car, fetched water and a towel, and placed the towel on Tiffany’s forehead. She carried Tiffany to the bedroom and asked a servant to bring cold water; the towel needed changing every three minutes. June cared for her from afternoon until night.
Tiffany opened her eyes, dazed, and saw the dazzling chandelier. She looked away to see June’s worried face beside the bed. Tiffany rubbed her eyes, regaining consciousness. “My eyes… alright, I can see now. I can see everything.”
“That’s great!” June exclaimed, picking up the hot porridge and stirring it gently. “Come, sit up a little. Drink this porridge, and you’ll feel better.”
Tiffany’s strong physique meant her high fever had subsided by evening, leaving only a low fever.
“Thank you, June.” Tiffany slowly ate the porridge, spoonful by spoonful.
The porridge warmed her stomach, but not her heart.
“Miss Kelley…” June sighed, taking the empty bowl. “Why don’t we go back to Royal Bay tomorrow? We didn’t see Mr. Hampton today. There are things we need to clarify. Can’t we clear up any misunderstandings in person?”
‘Is it really possible?’ Tiffany smiled bitterly. She recalled the engagement party: the lethal knife, her ruthless cruelty, the way she’d stabbed him without hesitation. She could explain she’d been hypnotized by Felix, that everything was beyond her control. ‘But… would he believe me?’ She nodded solemnly. “Alright, let’s go again tomorrow!” June was right. Some things needed to be clarified in person. Whether he believed her was up to him; explaining was up to her. A sigh of relief escaped her lips. She remembered her family and quickly asked, “My parents don’t know I’m back yet. I need to call them…”
“I already told them,” June said.
“Zoe and Abbie must be worried too,” Tiffany added.
“I informed them as well.”
June smiled. “Do you know how long you’ve been asleep? Since three or four this afternoon. I knew you’d worry, so I’ve taken care of everything. Now, rest. Take care of your face too; don’t let any scars form.”
Tiffany nodded. “Okay. Thank you, June.”
She looked up and smiled. “June, you’ve arranged everything. If I ever leave you, I won’t be able to manage anything.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll never leave you.” June’s serious expression and eyes held an incomprehensible emotion.
“Hurry up and get some sleep,” June said.
“Yeah.” Tiffany lay back down.
June kept watch, the headlights off, only an orange wall lamp illuminating the warm room.
Meanwhile, at the Azure Sea Royal Family, news spread quickly that the black bear in the Treasure Pavilion—usually maddened by the sight of people—had obeyed a young girl who’d trespassed.
This was unusual. Some disbelieved it and went to the Treasure Pavilion to see if the bear was truly tame. Of the five who entered, three were seriously injured, and the other two fled.
The Azure Sea King initially dismissed the rumors as jokes. ‘They wouldn’t die if they hadn’t sought death.’ The more he considered it, the more amused he became.
He shook his head, but his laughter faded. A thought struck him.
He repeated, “Yes, the black bear only recognizes one master, one master.”
Many had entered the Treasure Pavilion before, only to be attacked. The bear only recognized, and obeyed, its master. Yet, today, a blind girl had entered unharmed. This was highly abnormal.
The Azure Sea King felt he’d grasped a key piece of information; his heart pounded. He shouted, “Someone, bring me the Treasure Pavilion’s security footage from today!”
The Treasure Pavilion had retrievable surveillance records. The person in charge had previously suggested the Azure Sea King view the unusual event, but he’d been uninterested. Now, he couldn't wait.
His subordinate immediately obeyed.
