Chapter 469

Morwen was undeniably beautiful. Her fishtail dress clung to her figure, her long, wavy hair adding a touch of femininity. Her beautiful collarbone was visible, and a smile revealed seductively red lips. Jeremy looked at her calmly and asked, "What?"

Morwen choked on such an unromantic response. As the royal family's Saintess, she was not only of noble status but also considered their most beautiful member. Any ordinary man would be captivated, yet Jeremy remained unmoved.

Morwen smiled brightly. "I heard you returned, so I came to greet you. Aren't you touched?"

"I'm not," Jeremy replied without hesitation, his expression calm. It wasn't aloofness; he simply didn't take her seriously. Morwen's smile faded.

Jeremy walked past her, ignoring her completely, his subordinates following close behind. Within seconds, they neared the palace entrance. The honey trap seemed to have failed. Morwen's face darkened as she hurried after him.

Jeremy's high status allowed unimpeded entry to the palace. Since the Azure Sea King's collapse the previous night, he remained bedridden. Morwen forcefully followed Jeremy into his bedroom hall, exclaiming worriedly, "Grandpa, you must recover quickly! Seeing you like this breaks my heart."

The Azure Sea King smiled, then coughed violently, accidentally affecting his lungs.

"Grandpa!" Morwen turned to summon a doctor, but the Azure Sea King stopped her. "I'm fine," he said. "Morwen, please leave. I need to speak with Jeremy."

"Grandpa, I want to stay and care for you!" Morwen protested, her worry apparent. The Azure Sea King waved his hand, his expression gentle but firm. "Go."

"Yesโ€ฆ" Morwen murmured, thinking, Why can't they talk in front of me? Reluctantly, she obeyed.

The sound of the closing door echoed in the luxurious bedroom.

Jeremy stopped ten steps from the bed and nodded. "Your Majesty, you summoned me."

Azure Sea King said, "Come closer. I have something to tell youโ€”something that must remain secret."

"Yes," Jeremy replied, stepping forward attentively.

The Azure Sea King coughed again before whispering, "When I sent you to Lovell City, there was no news of the princess, correct?"

Jeremy was taken aback. He didn't understand the question, but nodded. "Yes."

Azure Sea King continued, "I want you to return to Lovell City, concealing your identity. This matter must remain absolutely secret; not even a third person can know!"

"Why?" Jeremy questioned. He'd spent considerable time in Lovell City searching for the princess without successโ€”a fact that led to Morwen's assignment. Now he wants me to go back secretly, and he won't even tell Morwen? Why?

The Azure Sea King took a deep breath, his voice trembling with excitement. "I suspect my daughter is in Lovell City!" He thought, Otherwise, how to explain the coincidences? A mature black bear willingly becoming someone's pet, successfully navigating a mazeโ€ฆit's unbelievable.

Jeremy was stunned. "Your Majesty, are you certain? I searched thoroughly, investigating several suspects, but none proved to be the princess."

"I'm not sure. That's why you must search again." The Azure Sea King's frail hand gripped Jeremy tightly. His eyes, though cloudy, shone with intensity. "I haven't much time left, Jeremy. You're the only one I trust. Don't fail me. Let me see my granddaughter before I die, and bring her home!"

"Your Majesty, don't worry. I'll do my best!" Jeremy nodded, his calm demeanor masking the seriousness in his eyes. He would succeed at all costs.

The Azure Sea King released his grip, nodding. "Go. I grant you the highest authority in the royal family; all will obey your commands."

"Understood," Jeremy replied, departing.

He encountered Morwen immediately outside. She rushed toward him anxiously. "How is Grandpa? Is he alright? Should we call a doctor?"

Jeremy avoided her and left without pausing.

"Say something! How is Grandpa?" Morwen insisted.

"He's fine," Jeremy replied curtly.

Morwen rolled her eyes. What does that mean? He's so good at evading me! But her true aim wasn't Grandpa's health; she wanted to know their conversation's content.

Morwen pursued Jeremy, attempting to grab his arm. He brushed her off. She tried again, but Jeremy stopped, his eyes chillingly cold.

"I have a short temper," he stated. "Do you want to see what I'm capable of?"

Morwen thought, What's wrong with this man? Her smile faltered. "We're together. There's no need for this. By the way, what did Grandpa say? Perhaps I can help."

"There's something I need your help with," Jeremy replied.

"What can I do?" Morwen's excitement grew. Finally, he'll talk.

Jeremy's cold reply: "Stay away from me."

Fury flushed Morwen's face. She watched as Jeremy headed for his quarters, leaving without hesitation.

Morwen summoned a subordinate. "Follow Lord Cooper. Report his every action immediately!" If Jeremy won't tell me, I'll have him followed. As soon as he acts, I'll know what he's up to!

The subordinate discreetly followed. Jeremy noticed the tail but didn't look back. Only then did he understand the Azure Sea King's secrecy and the need for his undercover return to Lovell City: too many untrustworthy people surrounded the Azure Sea King.
