Chapter 579

“Out of the picture? What does Melody mean?” Grelle wondered. She was stunned for a moment before realizing, “So Melody means Tiffany needs to die.” Grelle considered this and agreed.

‘If Tiffany dies, Richard will forget her. She’s no better than me and has betrayed him. Why does he dote on her so much?’ Grelle thought. ‘I saved his life! He should protect and cherish me.’

She was swayed by Melody, but then hesitated. The gravity of murder made her heart pound. “No, Melody, we shouldn’t even think this way. It’s illegal!”

Melody sneered. ‘She’s being phony. I bet she's conflicted,’ she thought. Keeping her voice gentle, Melody said, “I just feel sorry for you. You were destined for stardom, but Tiffany ruined everything. You could have been famous and glorious, but now everyone despises you.”

‘A big star, fame and glory,’ Grelle repeated, dazed. That was her dream. When Ascendant Entertainment chose her, and the executives praised her, she dreamed of world domination. Unfortunately, just as she gained a little popularity through two variety shows, everything ended abruptly. “That was cruel, wasn’t it?” Grelle asked herself, wavering.

“But… I have to think about it. And I don’t want to be ruthless.” Grelle sighed, her thoughts swirling. ‘I’ve already lost everything. Should I try? But if I fail, I’ll be doomed, and my family will face endless criticism. No, I can’t.’

Melody laughed ambiguously. “Then you can only pray someone gets rid of Tiffany for you.”

“Melody—”

Melody interrupted. “Oh, right. Mr. Hampton and Tiffany’s wedding is in a few days. Can you imagine? The wedding of the century! It’ll impress all of Lovell City. It’ll be extravagant beyond belief, boosting her status. Even Zoe will be emboldened.”

Melody sighed. “Alright, I have to go to class. Grelle, don’t think too much about it. Take care.” She hung up. Alone in the empty playground, Melody reflected on the nearly ten-minute call. It had seemed casual, but it was intentional incitement. She was certain Grelle would be tempted.

As expected, Grelle called back minutes later. “Melody, you’ll be on my side, right?”

Both understood the implication. A triumphant smirk played on Melody’s lips, but her tone remained soft. “Of course, no matter what. And I’ll help if I can.”

That was the deal. Grelle steeled herself. “Good. Let’s lure her out, then set her on fire.”

After the call, Melody returned to class and checked the time. After class, it would be lunchtime; Tiffany would eat with Zoe in the canteen, then nap for half an hour in the school apartment. Melody knew she had to act quickly.

She followed Tiffany and Zoe to the canteen. After lunch, Tiffany went to nap. Zoe went to the classroom to work on calculations. Melody rushed in anxiously. “Zoe, I lost my bracelet in the playground. Can you help me—”

Zoe coldly interrupted. “Are we close? Why should I help you?” She suspected Melody was behind Ged’s death during the attack. Without proof, she couldn’t prove anything. ‘Whatever the truth, I’ll never get along with her,’ Zoe thought.

“Ms. Princeton, if you need help, call for help. Many people will assist,” Zoe said sarcastically.

“Zoe,” Melody said, feigning hurt.

Zoe snapped, “Stay away from me! Go cry somewhere else. You’re blocking my light, and you’re annoying!”

Melody’s negativity forced Zoe to leave. She gathered her things and headed to Tiffany’s apartment. The two-story apartment would allow Zoe to study downstairs without disturbing Tiffany upstairs.

Melody caught up and patted Zoe’s shoulder. Zoe felt a sharp pain but saw no mark. ‘She wasn’t attacking me,’ she thought.

“Enough,” she huffed.

“I’m sorry, I’ll leave you alone,” Melody said, dejectedly. She felt her attempt to build a relationship had been rejected.

Zoe ignored her. As she reached the playground, she tensed, turning to see Melody. Melody smiled. “Class is over. Aren’t you going home?”

“Home? Yes,” Zoe replied.

Zoe walked away in a daze, dropping her account book. She seemed oblivious. Melody smirked.

After using the bloodbite to control Thalia, Melody asked Felix for two more Obedience Poisons. The best part was the victim couldn't detect it. Melody could also dispel the bloodbite at will; once removed, it died. Zoe’s disappearance would seem coincidental. Melody had simply bumped into her and spoken briefly. Surveillance footage would show nothing suspicious.

‘They can’t trace it back to me,’ Melody thought, chuckling.
