Chapter 692
Tiffany wondered if Richard's kindness and patience over the months were intended for her or another woman. Restless, she tossed and turned in bed, unable to bring herself to ask the question, lacking the courage to do so. She forced her eyes shut, but sleep wouldn't come. Frustrated, she sat up.
Two knocks sounded at the door.
"Miss Kelley, still can't sleep?" June's voice came from outside.
Tiffany froze, realizing June had been waiting. A mixture of gratitude and sorrow washed over her. "Come in, June."
The door opened, and June entered.
"Still unable to sleep?" she asked softly.
"I'm fine, June. Why aren't you resting?" Tiffany forced a smile. "You don't need to worry about me."
June sat in the chair beside the bed, her gaze softening. "Mr. Hampton has been downstairs. Should I let him come up?"
Tiffany shook her head.
"But it's cold outside, and the weather forecast says it will rain…" June's gaze was hopeful. "Maybe meeting him in person would help."
Tiffany shook her head again. She was too irritated to see him, especially since his silence had already answered her unspoken question. There seemed nothing left to say.
Seeing this, June lowered her head and sighed softly. "Could you tell me what happened? I want to understand what's going on…"
The question crossed the line between servant and mistress. While Tiffany never saw June as a servant, June felt she had overstepped. Her voice was tentative.
Tiffany told June everything.
After hearing the story, June's eyes widened in shock. "Are you saying Jennie was Mr. Hampton's lover in the previous timeline? That his special treatment of you was entirely because of her?"
Tiffany nodded.
"That can't be!" June exclaimed. Even if Richard had gained memories from the Treasure Box, if he truly loved Jennie, he could have found her with his power. Even if he couldn't find her, he could have used the Treasure Box. He had many chances, but never used it.
Just as June was about to defend Richard, Tiffany calmly interrupted.
"June, do you think he hasn't searched? At that time, everyone was looking for the Treasure Box—Felix, who wanted its power, and Romeo, who sought immortality. Do you think Richard didn't participate?"
She added, "But the Treasure Box has limited power. Even if he used it to search, it wouldn't necessarily lead him to her."
Tiffany closed her eyes. The Treasure Box had told her all of this. When she first heard Jennie's name, she'd asked the Box if Richard had searched for her; the answer was yes.
It was clear now. From the beginning, she had been a shadow of another woman. A bitter smile touched her lips.
Jennie hadn't appeared yet, but when she did, Tiffany knew she would have to step aside. Perhaps it was better to leave on her own terms before being driven out and humiliated.
Tiffany straightened, looking at June calmly. "June, please contact a lawyer."
"What do you… What do you want to do?" June asked nervously.
"Divorce," Tiffany said calmly, the words hitting like a bombshell.
June wanted to persuade her, but seeing Tiffany's determination, she decided against it. "Alright. I'll take care of it."
After June left, Tiffany heard raindrops. The windows rattled; flashes of lightning illuminated the room, followed by thunder. It was raining heavily. June's words echoed in her mind: "But it's cold outside, and the weather forecast says it will rain… Mr. Hampton has been waiting outside…"
She wondered if Richard was still waiting. After several minutes of internal struggle, she couldn't ignore the rain. She got out of bed, tiptoed to the window, and parted the curtain. In the courtyard, her husband's Maybach was gone.
Feeling a mixture of disappointment and emptiness, she mocked herself for overthinking. She let the curtain fall and returned to bed. This was the only place she felt secure.
The rain continued throughout the night and into the morning. June had quickly arranged everything with the lawyer. When Tiffany came downstairs, June handed her the divorce agreement.
"Miss Kelley, please take a look. Let me know if anything needs to be revised or added."
Tiffany glanced at the document. It was simple. She was leaving with nothing, no assets from the Hampton family. She would allow the removal of the Treasure Box, but nothing else. It was as if she were leaving without a trace.
Tiffany nodded, then remembered something. "Oh, one more thing. The tiger stays with me. That's the only addition. Please send it over."
"Understood," June replied.
She quickly obtained the updated agreement, and Tiffany signed it. June immediately took the document to Royal Bay.
The servant at Royal Bay greeted her warmly. "Oh, Miss Spencer. We're all family. Why didn't you just come in?" June had fingerprint access to the property.
June smiled faintly and asked, "Is Mr. Hampton in?"
"Yes," the servant replied.
The servant led her inside, adding, "Miss Spencer, do you know where Mrs. Hampton is? She disappeared yesterday without a word. Mr. Hampton was so worried, he went out searching for her all night, but there's still no news."
The servant was genuinely concerned. "Miss Spencer, is Mrs. Hampton alright?"
June shook her head. "My lady is fine."
"So, you're here to…"
"I'm here to deliver something," June said, producing the document. The unsealed agreement, with the words "Divorce Agreement" clearly visible, caused the servant's expression to change drastically.
