Chapter 702

Since they were getting divorced, their hug was inappropriate. Tiffany tried to pull away, but Richard held her firmly. His icy glare deterred others from approaching.

Those around them hesitated, exchanging glances. Their initial compliments changed.

“Mr. and Mrs. Hampton are such a lovely couple,” someone said.

Richard's expression softened slightly. Sensing his improved mood, others showered them with praise.

“Mrs. Hampton is stunning! Lovell City’s number one beauty truly lives up to her reputation!” someone exclaimed.

“Absolutely! Mr. and Mrs. Hampton are a perfect match, a couple made in heaven!” another added.

Tiffany's eye twitched. Seeing his faint smile, she noticed his unusually good mood.

Tiffany sighed inwardly. Seriously? Did he leave his company just to hear people flatter us? How boring!

She wriggled, trying to escape his embrace. Failing that, she pinched his side and hissed, “Let go of me, or I’ll bite you.”

Richard chuckled and brushed her cheek. “Don’t be jealous. You’re the only one in my heart, past, present, and future.”

Tiffany froze, surprised by his words. She realized his public display wasn't just about affection; he wanted to show their bond to others, to receive their blessings, and to deter other women.

For a moment, Tiffany felt conflicted. Touched by his actions, unresolved issues remained. A wave of nausea hit her. Not wanting to cause a scene, she pushed Richard away and rushed to the restroom, moving as if fleeing.

Richard stood alone, frowning. Is she that unwilling to be near me? he thought. His face darkened, and the atmosphere chilled.

The previous praise ceased. The atmosphere grew awkward. Luckily, the lights dimmed, and the Treasure Appraisal Conference began.

The auction started with rare antiques from Treasure Tower, renowned for its impeccable reputation and century-long history of authenticity. Wealthy attendees bid enthusiastically, driving prices higher. Calvin, eager to impress Jennie, placed bold bids, encouraged by his father.

After securing a rare scroll, he triumphantly turned to Jennie for admiration, but she was gone. The lights highlighted only the treasures. Unnoticed, Jennie had moved closer to Richard. She approached cautiously, but bodyguards blocked her.

“What do you want?” John asked coldly. “Stay away.”

Jennie's face was pale, her forehead glistening with sweat. Clinging to a chair, she trembled. “Please help me. Sir, please help.” She looked at Richard pleadingly.

John frowned and said to Richard, “Sir, she seems unwell.”

Richard's voice was cold and indifferent. “Let her die somewhere else.”

Jennie’s face paled further. The bodyguards escorted her to the hotel entrance. Hotel staff called an ambulance.

John muttered, “These women will do anything to get close to Mr. Hampton. Faking illness? How shameless.” Countless women had tried, staging accidents or feigning distress, but none had succeeded.

He glanced nervously at Richard. “Sir, did Mrs. Hampton quarrel with you again?”

Richard didn't respond. John hesitated, then added, “That woman who pretended to be sick really looked like Madam. It’s uncanny.”

Richard’s eyes flickered. Fragmented memories surfaced, faint and distant. A blurry face appeared, but details eluded him. He felt he was missing something.

Meanwhile, Tiffany, after vomiting, returned to the banquet hall. She saw Richard, calm and composed, but a faint perfume lingered near him—Jennie’s perfume. Richard had met Jennie.
