Chapter 710

Tiffany recognized the look in Danielโ€™s eyes all too well. Before he could act on impulse, she instinctively raised her leg, blocking his advance with her foot.

โ€œHey, snap out of it,โ€ Tiffany said. Without hesitation, she grabbed the glass of water from the bedside table. Noticing it was cold, she splashed it on his face.

The icy shock jolted him back to his senses.

โ€œIโ€™m sorry,โ€ Daniel said, leaning back, his face pale and filled with guilt. He avoided her gaze and added hoarsely, โ€œYou should leave.โ€

But Tiffany didnโ€™t move. Instead, she focused on the strange energy sheโ€™d been sensing. โ€œDo you always wear something, like a necklace or bracelet? Something you keep on you all the time?โ€

As she stepped closer, the peculiar sensation intensified, confirming her suspicions. Whatever was causing his condition wasnโ€™t an illness or poison; she hadnโ€™t detected it during her initial examination.

Daniel remained silent, letting her approach. The faint fragrance of her presence made his eyes darken, a yearning flickering in his gaze. He stared intently, his expression softening into something tender and gentle.

Unaware of the shift in his demeanor, Tiffany focused on identifying the problem.

โ€œItโ€™s here,โ€ she said, reaching toward his waist.

Just as she was about to grab it, Danielโ€™s hand caught her wrist, stopping her.

โ€œMr. Cooper,โ€ she said. โ€œIโ€™m trying to treat you. Donโ€™t make this difficult.โ€

Daniel didnโ€™t respond, his lips pressed into a firm line. His gaze locked on hers, and she saw his rationality slipping away.

Before Tiffany could react, he pulled her toward him with surprising strength. She stumbled, landing against his chest as the cool scent of his cologne enveloped her. The moment felt oddly familiar.

Her thoughts were cut short when he kissed her without warning, leaving her stunned.

Tiffanyโ€™s eyes widened in shock; her anger surged. โ€˜Seriously? Iโ€™m here to help, and you take advantage of me?โ€™ she thought, fuming.

Without hesitation, she raised her hand to strike him, but he anticipated her move and restrained her wrist. His grip was far stronger than sheโ€™d expected. โ€˜Isnโ€™t this man supposed to be ill?โ€™ she thought.

Her frustration boiling over, Tiffany bit him hard. The metallic taste of blood spread between their lips, jolting Daniel back to reality. His fiery gaze softened, replaced by clarity and regret. Tiffanyโ€™s palm met his cheek with a resounding slap.

The slap echoed in the quiet room, leaving Tiffanyโ€™s hand numb.

โ€œThere goes twenty million dollars and the tenfold consultation fee,โ€ Tiffany thought.

She glared at Daniel coldly. Without a word, she turned and stormed out.

Behind her, Danielโ€™s voice was low and remorseful. โ€œIโ€™m sorry. Every time my condition worsens, I lock myself in because Iโ€™m afraid of losing control. I didnโ€™t mean for this to happen.โ€

His apology was sincere, but Tiffany wasnโ€™t ready to respond.

Before she left the room completely, Christopher rushed in and ran to Danielโ€™s side. โ€œMr. Cooper! Are you unwell again? Why is it happening more frequently?โ€

Christopher helped Daniel back into bed and then approached Tiffany. โ€œMiss Kelley, do you know whatโ€™s wrong with him? If this keeps up, how will he survive?โ€

Christopher began to cry. โ€œEvery time his illness flares up, Mr. Cooper locks himself in his room. Last time, he smashed a window and almost fell down the stairs! Itโ€™s getting more dangerous. What should we do?โ€

Hearing this, Tiffanyโ€™s anger subsided. Danielโ€™s condition was unusual; she couldnโ€™t be too harsh. Besides, sheโ€™d already figured out the cause. If she ignored it, he might not survive.

โ€œI know the cause now,โ€ she said evenly.

โ€œReally?โ€ Christopherโ€™s eyes lit up with hope. โ€œTell me what you need, and Iโ€™ll prepare it immediately!โ€

โ€œLeave me with him. Iโ€™ll need to perform acupuncture.โ€

โ€œUnderstood.โ€ Christopher, ushering the servant out, left the room quiet once more.

Daniel lay on the bed while Tiffany unpacked her kit. Silver needles glinted in the light.

Before she began, Daniel spoke again, his voice hoarse but genuine. โ€œIโ€™m truly sorry.โ€

Tiffany glanced at him, her expression calm. โ€œItโ€™s fine,โ€ she replied curtly, her tone making it clear she wasnโ€™t dwelling on the incident. To her, it was as insignificant as being bitten by a stray dog.

Daniel opened his mouth as if to say more, but she silenced him with her first needle.

โ€œTake out whatever you wear all the time,โ€ she instructed. โ€œThatโ€™s the root of your problem. Itโ€™s been accumulating harmful energy, letting cold and negative forces invade your body.โ€

โ€œIs this what youโ€™re speaking of?โ€ Daniel asked, reaching into his waistband and producing a small object.

It wasnโ€™t a diamond pendant or a valuable trinket, just an ordinary-looking stone. However, as Tiffany brought her hand near it, she felt the unsettling presence radiating from it. It wasnโ€™t poison, but it possessed a unique magnetic field that damaged oneโ€™s body.

โ€œThis is it,โ€ she confirmed. โ€œIf youโ€™d kept wearing it a few more years, you wouldnโ€™t have survived much longer.โ€

Daniel frowned. โ€œItโ€™s that dangerous? What is it exactly?โ€

โ€œIโ€™m not sure,โ€ Tiffany admitted. โ€œIโ€™ve never seen anything like it, but I can tell you itโ€™s nothing good.โ€

โ€œHow long will it take to recover?โ€ Daniel asked.

โ€œBy the day after tomorrow, at the latest,โ€ Tiffany said. With acupuncture, she could remove the harmful energy from Danielโ€™s body over a few sessions. Once it was gone, he would recover fully.

Daniel blinked in surprise. โ€œThat fast?โ€

โ€œWhat, donโ€™t want to get better?โ€ she teased.

โ€œNo, of course not,โ€ he said, his lips curving into a small smile. โ€œMiss Kelley, your skills are truly remarkable.โ€

โ€œSave the compliments,โ€ Tiffany replied, focusing on her work. โ€œJust donโ€™t forget the tenfold consultation fee when youโ€™re back on your feet.โ€

With that, she deftly inserted another needle.
