Chapter 710
Tiffany recognized the look in Danielโs eyes all too well. Before he could act on impulse, she instinctively raised her leg, blocking his advance with her foot.
โHey, snap out of it,โ Tiffany said. Without hesitation, she grabbed the glass of water from the bedside table. Noticing it was cold, she splashed it on his face.
The icy shock jolted him back to his senses.
โIโm sorry,โ Daniel said, leaning back, his face pale and filled with guilt. He avoided her gaze and added hoarsely, โYou should leave.โ
But Tiffany didnโt move. Instead, she focused on the strange energy sheโd been sensing. โDo you always wear something, like a necklace or bracelet? Something you keep on you all the time?โ
As she stepped closer, the peculiar sensation intensified, confirming her suspicions. Whatever was causing his condition wasnโt an illness or poison; she hadnโt detected it during her initial examination.
Daniel remained silent, letting her approach. The faint fragrance of her presence made his eyes darken, a yearning flickering in his gaze. He stared intently, his expression softening into something tender and gentle.
Unaware of the shift in his demeanor, Tiffany focused on identifying the problem.
โItโs here,โ she said, reaching toward his waist.
Just as she was about to grab it, Danielโs hand caught her wrist, stopping her.
โMr. Cooper,โ she said. โIโm trying to treat you. Donโt make this difficult.โ
Daniel didnโt respond, his lips pressed into a firm line. His gaze locked on hers, and she saw his rationality slipping away.
Before Tiffany could react, he pulled her toward him with surprising strength. She stumbled, landing against his chest as the cool scent of his cologne enveloped her. The moment felt oddly familiar.
Her thoughts were cut short when he kissed her without warning, leaving her stunned.
Tiffanyโs eyes widened in shock; her anger surged. โSeriously? Iโm here to help, and you take advantage of me?โ she thought, fuming.
Without hesitation, she raised her hand to strike him, but he anticipated her move and restrained her wrist. His grip was far stronger than sheโd expected. โIsnโt this man supposed to be ill?โ she thought.
Her frustration boiling over, Tiffany bit him hard. The metallic taste of blood spread between their lips, jolting Daniel back to reality. His fiery gaze softened, replaced by clarity and regret. Tiffanyโs palm met his cheek with a resounding slap.
The slap echoed in the quiet room, leaving Tiffanyโs hand numb.
โThere goes twenty million dollars and the tenfold consultation fee,โ Tiffany thought.
She glared at Daniel coldly. Without a word, she turned and stormed out.
Behind her, Danielโs voice was low and remorseful. โIโm sorry. Every time my condition worsens, I lock myself in because Iโm afraid of losing control. I didnโt mean for this to happen.โ
His apology was sincere, but Tiffany wasnโt ready to respond.
Before she left the room completely, Christopher rushed in and ran to Danielโs side. โMr. Cooper! Are you unwell again? Why is it happening more frequently?โ
Christopher helped Daniel back into bed and then approached Tiffany. โMiss Kelley, do you know whatโs wrong with him? If this keeps up, how will he survive?โ
Christopher began to cry. โEvery time his illness flares up, Mr. Cooper locks himself in his room. Last time, he smashed a window and almost fell down the stairs! Itโs getting more dangerous. What should we do?โ
Hearing this, Tiffanyโs anger subsided. Danielโs condition was unusual; she couldnโt be too harsh. Besides, sheโd already figured out the cause. If she ignored it, he might not survive.
โI know the cause now,โ she said evenly.
โReally?โ Christopherโs eyes lit up with hope. โTell me what you need, and Iโll prepare it immediately!โ
โLeave me with him. Iโll need to perform acupuncture.โ
โUnderstood.โ Christopher, ushering the servant out, left the room quiet once more.
Daniel lay on the bed while Tiffany unpacked her kit. Silver needles glinted in the light.
Before she began, Daniel spoke again, his voice hoarse but genuine. โIโm truly sorry.โ
Tiffany glanced at him, her expression calm. โItโs fine,โ she replied curtly, her tone making it clear she wasnโt dwelling on the incident. To her, it was as insignificant as being bitten by a stray dog.
Daniel opened his mouth as if to say more, but she silenced him with her first needle.
โTake out whatever you wear all the time,โ she instructed. โThatโs the root of your problem. Itโs been accumulating harmful energy, letting cold and negative forces invade your body.โ
โIs this what youโre speaking of?โ Daniel asked, reaching into his waistband and producing a small object.
It wasnโt a diamond pendant or a valuable trinket, just an ordinary-looking stone. However, as Tiffany brought her hand near it, she felt the unsettling presence radiating from it. It wasnโt poison, but it possessed a unique magnetic field that damaged oneโs body.
โThis is it,โ she confirmed. โIf youโd kept wearing it a few more years, you wouldnโt have survived much longer.โ
Daniel frowned. โItโs that dangerous? What is it exactly?โ
โIโm not sure,โ Tiffany admitted. โIโve never seen anything like it, but I can tell you itโs nothing good.โ
โHow long will it take to recover?โ Daniel asked.
โBy the day after tomorrow, at the latest,โ Tiffany said. With acupuncture, she could remove the harmful energy from Danielโs body over a few sessions. Once it was gone, he would recover fully.
Daniel blinked in surprise. โThat fast?โ
โWhat, donโt want to get better?โ she teased.
โNo, of course not,โ he said, his lips curving into a small smile. โMiss Kelley, your skills are truly remarkable.โ
โSave the compliments,โ Tiffany replied, focusing on her work. โJust donโt forget the tenfold consultation fee when youโre back on your feet.โ
With that, she deftly inserted another needle.
