Chapter 710

Tiffany recognized the look in Daniel’s eyes all too well. Before he could act on impulse, she instinctively raised her leg, blocking his advance with her foot.

“Hey, snap out of it,” Tiffany said. Without hesitation, she grabbed the glass of water from the bedside table. Noticing it was cold, she splashed it on his face.

The icy shock jolted him back to his senses.

“I’m sorry,” Daniel said, leaning back, his face pale and filled with guilt. He avoided her gaze and added hoarsely, “You should leave.”

But Tiffany didn’t move. Instead, she focused on the strange energy she’d been sensing. “Do you always wear something, like a necklace or bracelet? Something you keep on you all the time?”

As she stepped closer, the peculiar sensation intensified, confirming her suspicions. Whatever was causing his condition wasn’t an illness or poison; she hadn’t detected it during her initial examination.

Daniel remained silent, letting her approach. The faint fragrance of her presence made his eyes darken, a yearning flickering in his gaze. He stared intently, his expression softening into something tender and gentle.

Unaware of the shift in his demeanor, Tiffany focused on identifying the problem.

“It’s here,” she said, reaching toward his waist.

Just as she was about to grab it, Daniel’s hand caught her wrist, stopping her.

“Mr. Cooper,” she said. “I’m trying to treat you. Don’t make this difficult.”

Daniel didn’t respond, his lips pressed into a firm line. His gaze locked on hers, and she saw his rationality slipping away.

Before Tiffany could react, he pulled her toward him with surprising strength. She stumbled, landing against his chest as the cool scent of his cologne enveloped her. The moment felt oddly familiar.

Her thoughts were cut short when he kissed her without warning, leaving her stunned.

Tiffany’s eyes widened in shock; her anger surged. ‘Seriously? I’m here to help, and you take advantage of me?’ she thought, fuming.

Without hesitation, she raised her hand to strike him, but he anticipated her move and restrained her wrist. His grip was far stronger than she’d expected. ‘Isn’t this man supposed to be ill?’ she thought.

Her frustration boiling over, Tiffany bit him hard. The metallic taste of blood spread between their lips, jolting Daniel back to reality. His fiery gaze softened, replaced by clarity and regret. Tiffany’s palm met his cheek with a resounding slap.

The slap echoed in the quiet room, leaving Tiffany’s hand numb.

“There goes twenty million dollars and the tenfold consultation fee,” Tiffany thought.

She glared at Daniel coldly. Without a word, she turned and stormed out.

Behind her, Daniel’s voice was low and remorseful. “I’m sorry. Every time my condition worsens, I lock myself in because I’m afraid of losing control. I didn’t mean for this to happen.”

His apology was sincere, but Tiffany wasn’t ready to respond.

Before she left the room completely, Christopher rushed in and ran to Daniel’s side. “Mr. Cooper! Are you unwell again? Why is it happening more frequently?”

Christopher helped Daniel back into bed and then approached Tiffany. “Miss Kelley, do you know what’s wrong with him? If this keeps up, how will he survive?”

Christopher began to cry. “Every time his illness flares up, Mr. Cooper locks himself in his room. Last time, he smashed a window and almost fell down the stairs! It’s getting more dangerous. What should we do?”

Hearing this, Tiffany’s anger subsided. Daniel’s condition was unusual; she couldn’t be too harsh. Besides, she’d already figured out the cause. If she ignored it, he might not survive.

“I know the cause now,” she said evenly.

“Really?” Christopher’s eyes lit up with hope. “Tell me what you need, and I’ll prepare it immediately!”

“Leave me with him. I’ll need to perform acupuncture.”

“Understood.” Christopher, ushering the servant out, left the room quiet once more.

Daniel lay on the bed while Tiffany unpacked her kit. Silver needles glinted in the light.

Before she began, Daniel spoke again, his voice hoarse but genuine. “I’m truly sorry.”

Tiffany glanced at him, her expression calm. “It’s fine,” she replied curtly, her tone making it clear she wasn’t dwelling on the incident. To her, it was as insignificant as being bitten by a stray dog.

Daniel opened his mouth as if to say more, but she silenced him with her first needle.

“Take out whatever you wear all the time,” she instructed. “That’s the root of your problem. It’s been accumulating harmful energy, letting cold and negative forces invade your body.”

“Is this what you’re speaking of?” Daniel asked, reaching into his waistband and producing a small object.

It wasn’t a diamond pendant or a valuable trinket, just an ordinary-looking stone. However, as Tiffany brought her hand near it, she felt the unsettling presence radiating from it. It wasn’t poison, but it possessed a unique magnetic field that damaged one’s body.

“This is it,” she confirmed. “If you’d kept wearing it a few more years, you wouldn’t have survived much longer.”

Daniel frowned. “It’s that dangerous? What is it exactly?”

“I’m not sure,” Tiffany admitted. “I’ve never seen anything like it, but I can tell you it’s nothing good.”

“How long will it take to recover?” Daniel asked.

“By the day after tomorrow, at the latest,” Tiffany said. With acupuncture, she could remove the harmful energy from Daniel’s body over a few sessions. Once it was gone, he would recover fully.

Daniel blinked in surprise. “That fast?”

“What, don’t want to get better?” she teased.

“No, of course not,” he said, his lips curving into a small smile. “Miss Kelley, your skills are truly remarkable.”

“Save the compliments,” Tiffany replied, focusing on her work. “Just don’t forget the tenfold consultation fee when you’re back on your feet.”

With that, she deftly inserted another needle.
