Chapter 113

Patrick shouted. He was truly distracted, completely forgetting that Amelia wasn’t like the women he usually played around with. She was a rose with thorns.

“Amelia, you dare to scald me?” Patrick stared at Amelia in disbelief, his hand still firmly gripping hers.

Luckily, the coffee had been sitting there for a while, not freshly boiled. Otherwise, Patrick would have been peeling his skin off.

Amelia sneered, “Patrick, sleeping with your cousin’s wife is incest. You’d better snap out of it. Go sleep with Camila and let her give you a son.”

“So you knew all along.” Patrick was furious.

Amelia said, “I know everything about you, so stop wasting your time here. No matter how you play it, you’re still a scumbag.”

Patrick didn’t expect all his efforts to put on a show to turn into a farce in Amelia’s eyes. His anger grew, and as he jumped off the table, he unbuckled his belt with one hand. “Lick it.”

“Dream on.” Amelia activated the rose ring on her hand, and Patrick was knocked down in an instant.

Before Patrick fell, he stared at Amelia in disbelief. He had trained in combat skills since he was a child, and yet she had taken him down.

“It’s done.” Amelia was quite pleased with herself, wiping the sweat off her palms. “This ring is amazing. One hit and, it’s all over.”

Just then, the door to the private room opened.

“Honey…” Amelia’s words froze. It wasn’t Landon who entered–it was Camila.

“This jerk.” Camila glanced at the scene and then dragged Patrick out.

Amelia blinked, confused. “What is happening?”

“Good job, Honey.” Landon wheeled in, handing Amelia some alcohol wipes. “Better disinfect first.”

Amelia laughed, “Alright.”

After wiping with the alcohol, Landon thoughtfully handed Amelia a warm towel.

“Did you invite Camila?” Amelia asked.

“Yep.” Landon nodded, then winked. “Let me tell you another secret. The little chubby kid you saw yesterday is Patrick’s son.”

“Uh?” Amelia was stunned. She thought, ‘As if incest wasn’t bad enough, and they even have a kid?’

Then, Amelia remembered Camila’s behavior from a couple of days ago, and she finally understood. “So, Camila wasn’t forced all those years ago actually went along with it?”

Landon said, “I have no idea. All I know is Camila is now working hard to create a happy life for her son. As soon as I asked, she came right over.”

Amelia was speechless. ‘Today’s been a lot to take in,’ she thought. She took a few seconds to process the reality.

“Great, now that Camila is keeping an eye on Patrick, he won’t come after me again.” Amelia was genuinely relieved.

Landon chuckled as he pulled Amelia’s hand, “Were you scared just now?”

“A little. But when I thought of you being next door, I wasn’t afraid anymore,” Amelia said sincerely. “I’m so glad you came today.”

Landon said, “If anything happens, tell me. Don’t shoulder it alone.”

Amelia replied, “Okay.”

Landon suggested, “Let’s go eat.”

“Mm.” Amelia pushed the wheelchair slowly forward.

Amelia had to admit that Patrick had chosen a beautiful spot with rockeries, a fountain, and a serene, elegant atmosphere. She’d have loved to sit with Landon for coffee and snacks if not for what had just happened.

As they walked, something caught Amelia’s eye. “A vase?”

“Hmm?” Landon followed Amelia’s gaze. On the main hall’s rack stood a delicate vase. It was about one foot tall and made entirely of amber, with a phoenix carved into the body.

“Do you like it?” Landon smiled knowingly, already thinking about buying the vase for Amelia.

Amelia said, “This vase, it’s embroidered on Daniel’s handkerchief. As soon as I saw it, it felt familiar. Do you think it could be connected to something from my childhood?”

Landon finally understood why Amelia had accepted Daniel’s handkerchief. He was thrilled and immediately instructed Aaron, “I want to meet the owner here.”

“Understood,” Aaron replied.

It wasn’t long before the restaurant’s owner arrived. When he saw Landon, he greeted him with a polite bow. “Mr. Kingsley, it’s an honor to have you visit.”

“You are too kind.” Landon nodded. “The vase on this rack is quite unique.”

“Mr. Kingsley, you have a sharp eye. This is an antique from three thousand years ago,” Marlon James said with a smile. “You may not know, but this restaurant only turned profitable after we placed this Amber Vase here.”

“Amber Vase…” Amelia murmured, and a distant memory suddenly rushed back. She heard a vague voice in her ear, “Amy, this is a phoenix… This vase is my gift for you…”

“It’s my family’s stuff,” Amelia blurted out, startling Marlon.

Marlon said, “Oh dear, Mrs. Kingsley, this vase was expensive.”

“How expensive?” Landon asked, his tone flat.

Marlon grew a bit embarrassed. “I’m sorry for showing off in front of Mr. Kingsley. I bought this vase for three million dollars.”

“I’ll offer 10 million dollars,” Landon said.

Marlon hesitated. He thought, ‘Selling it would bring years of profit at once.’ But the vase had turned his business around, and he was reluctant to let it go.

“Fifteen million dollars.” Landon upped the offer.

Marlon nearly fainted from excitement. “Mr. Kingsley, such a generous offer. It’s a deal.”

Aaron immediately went with Marlon to finalize the paperwork. Amelia frowned as she looked at Landon, “Are you really planning to buy it for me?”

“Yeah,” Landon smiled and nodded. A smile from Amelia was worth more than anything. He just wanted her to be happy.

Amelia said, “It’s too expensive…”

“It’s just 15 million dollars.” Landon didn’t mind. “Aaron will ask about the vase’s history once the deal’s done.”

Amelia said, “When I was little, my mom told me about the vase. She said…”

Landon asked, “What did she say?”

“That it was a gift for when I get married.” Amelia felt a wave of sadness. A simple vase worth millions of dollars–Debra’s background must have been remarkable. How tragic that her mind had been clouded, and she was manipulated by Walter. In the end, she died under mysterious circumstances.

“A wedding gift? Well, that makes it even better,” Landon said with a look of deep understanding. “I’ve brought back what belongs to us.”

Amelia’s sadness shifted to a flutter of shyness. She thought, ‘Us? Have we become one?’

“Since the Amber Vase is an antique, it’s not far from Debra’s background. You’ll need to prepare yourself,” Landon said.

With the 70–million–dollar tiara and the vase worth millions of dollars, Debra’s origins were undoubtedly impressive. Even Landon, Norava’s richest man, felt a little pressure.

“Landon, thank you.” Amelia bit her lip, her heart racing. She wanted to say something but held back when she remembered Zachary’s schemes before her time travel. Amelia couldn’t tell real love from fake. Until she was sure, she couldn’t move forward.

Not long after, Aaron and Marlon returned. Marlon solemnly handed the vase to Amelia, saying, “Mr. Kingsley, I bought this from an antique dealer named Carlo Baker. He has some other good pieces from Pinecrest. If you’re interested, you can check with him.”

“Thank you,” Landon said, exchanging a look with Amelia. He thought, ‘Pinecrest… Isn’t that where Debra lived? How many antiques did she have? Had Walter sold them all to Carlo?’
