Chapter 134

That night, Amelia finished her bedtime routine early and slipped into bed, her heart fluttering like a caged bird. The nervous anticipation kept her wide awake.

Somehow, she felt this was inappropriate. But with only one bed in the room, she had no other choice.

Amelia thought, "Last night went fine. Tonight should be the same, right? If things get heated…"

Amelia gulped nervously, not daring to entertain the thought any further. She suddenly realized that just the thought made her knees go weak. It turned out that she really did have a physical reaction to Landon.

"I never felt this way when I was lying in the same bed as Zachary. What’s happening to me now?" Amelia thought, "I should just sleep."

Yet her thoughts kept wandering off uncontrollably, and all she could picture and hear in her mind was Landon's face, smile, and voice. She even recalled those few kisses they'd shared. Amelia couldn't believe it.

"Sigh, guess I’ll just have to start counting sheep," Amelia sighed inwardly. Amelia began silently counting in her mind, "One sheep, two sheep, three sheep…"

After an unknown period, Amelia finally drifted off to sleep. But before long, the unmistakable dip of the mattress beside her and Landon's familiar scent jolted her awake. Her heart raced uncontrollably, and blood rushed to her face.

Amelia tensely curled up in a ball, feigning sleep and not daring to open her eyes. Suddenly, Landon's muscular arm reached over and pulled Amelia snugly into his embrace. Her back was pressed flush against Landon's chest, his leg draped possessively over hers. Amelia froze stiff, not daring to move a muscle.

"Oh my gosh, this is such a compromising position. Did we sleep like this last night too?" Amelia thought.

"What’s wrong? You can’t sleep?" Landon’s deep, velvety voice murmured by her ear.

Landon’s warm breath teased Amelia’s ear, sending an instant flush to the tip of her ear. Amelia paused for two seconds, then decided to keep pretending to be asleep.

"If you can’t sleep, don’t force yourself." Landon chuckled softly by her ear. "Wesley did my follow-up checkup today."

Amelia immediately pricked up her ears and waited to hear what he was going to say next.

"That guy even ran a special test on my performance. He said it was ideal."

Amelia’s head buzzed. She felt the urge to punch Wesley.

"How could Wesley tell Landon that?" Amelia fumed inwardly.

"Did last night's 'just sleeping' make you question my abilities?" Landon murmured suggestively, his large hand already beginning to wander.

Amelia could no longer keep pretending. She said, "No, no. It’s just that you missed the kidney function test at your last checkup. I only brought that up for your overall health."

"Oh, is that so?" Landon's hand slid over her collarbone, coming to rest just above her chest. "Looks like it’s your turn for a checkup, too."

"Oh!" Amelia let out a startled gasp, quickly grabbing Landon’s hand to stop him from groping around. "No, no. That’s not necessary. I just had a checkup before our wedding."

"You’re holding me so tight. Are you thinking my strength isn’t enough for you?" Landon’s smile deepened.

Landon thought, "What an innocent girl. By pressing against me like this, she’s just making me feel the fullness of her bosom."

All Amelia wanted was to stop Landon’s wandering hands. She didn’t expect to have made things even worse. Amelia’s face instantly flushed scarlet with embarrassment. She hastily yanked his hand away.

Amelia thought, "But where should I put his hand? Nowhere seems appropriate. I’d better push his hand back!"

Landon’s hand withdrew, only to bounce back and land on the enticing curve of her backside.

"Landon, get your hand off me."

"No."

Amelia was stunned.

Landon gave Amelia a firm squeeze, and she felt every fiber of her being tense up.

"This is getting too intense. It has to stop now," Amelia thought.

"Landon, let me go."

Amelia was tightly trapped in Landon’s embrace, unable to break free no matter how hard she struggled. The more she struggled, the more the heat between them intensified.

"Honey, have you thought about that unlimited package I mentioned?" Landon asked, nibbling at her earlobe.

"What kind of shameless talk is this?" Amelia thought.

Amelia stammered, flustered, "I–I haven’t really thought about it yet."

"Stop overthinking it. Just go for the full package."

Landon’s hands roamed her body, setting her ablaze. Amelia couldn’t suppress a soft moan as her body responded instinctively.

"That sounds so nice. Keep going."

Landon let out a satisfied, low chuckle.

"Landon, you’re so naughty," Amelia whimpered, her voice thick with unshed tears as she pleaded, "Please stop it…"

"Then how about this?"

Amelia was taken aback. She bit her lower lip to keep from crying out.

Landon murmured with a satisfied chuckle, "Did everything fall into place?"

Amelia was utterly speechless.

"Clearly, he was the shameless one here," Amelia thought.

Amelia had no recollection of how it all ended.

When Amelia awoke, it was already the next morning. She was curled up naked in his arms, and he was just as bare. Last night felt like an erotic dream–painful yet exhilarating. She’d never felt anything like this before. It was wonderful. No wonder Sandra always mocked her in the previous timeline for being a virgin despite being married.

"Are you awake?" Landon asked softly.

Amelia blushed crimson and murmured in a small voice, "Yeah."

"Are you still sore?"

"A little."

"You should stay home and rest today."

"What about the company?"

"I’ll handle it."

"Alright."

Still unsure how to face him, Amelia simply pulled the covers over her head and continued to sleep.

Knowing she was shy, Landon got up and left for work.

It wasn’t until the room fell silent that Amelia finally pulled the covers off her head. Sunlight flooded the room. It was another bright, beautiful day. She gazed at the ceiling, recalling every moment since meeting Landon. A contented sigh escaped her lips. In this timeline, she was finally becoming the person she’d always wanted to be.

Amelia thought to herself, "Landon, please don’t let me down."

Gloria knocked on the door. "Amy, are you up yet? Breakfast is getting cold."

Amelia called out hurriedly, "I’ll be right there."

"I’d better get up now, or Mom will start getting the wrong idea," Amelia thought.

As Amelia threw back the covers, she immediately spotted the telltale stain on the sheets. She hastily rolled up the sheets and tossed them into the bathroom.

"Amy, you’re up quite late today," Gloria said with a knowing look.

Amelia blushed and said, "I have the day off today, so I slept in a bit."

"How about having Brooke accompany you to go shopping this afternoon? Buy whatever you fancy." Gloria handed her a platinum card.

Amelia thought, "Rich families really do have a habit of throwing money around. How wonderful."

Amelia accepted the card. "Okay."

Nothing could beat a day off.

Amelia and Brooke shopped till they dropped. Just as they were about to find a café to rest, they spotted someone making a beeline for them. Amelia’s heart sank, instinctively wanting to run.

The man approached with an ingratiating smile and a respectful tone, addressing her, "Mrs. Kingsley."

"What is it?" Amelia asked coldly, her face an impassive mask as she feigned composure.

"I was just having lunch nearby when I spotted you, Mrs. Kingsley, so I thought I’d come say hello," Jonas said with a smile, his manner even more effeminate.

Amelia mused, "If he ever dressed as a woman, he’d be drop-dead gorgeous. What a shame that Kenneth has already ruined him."

"Relax, Mrs. Kingsley. I won’t harm you again," Jonas said.

Amelia nodded politely, but in her mind, she thought, "As if I’d ever trust you."

Jonas said with a playful wink, "Last time, I made Patrick stay in bed for a few more days."

Jonas’s sudden claim of credit left Amelia completely bewildered. "What?"

"The coffee pot, the scald."

"Oh!" Amelia recalled it.

The coffee that day wasn’t that hot. At worst, Patrick might have gotten a minor burn. It couldn’t have been anything serious. Yet, Patrick ended up being bedridden at home for much longer than expected. It turned out that Jonas had helped.

Amelia thought, "This is strange. Isn’t he on Henry’s side? Why would he do that?"

Jonas let his gaze linger meaningfully on Amelia’s hand. "Mrs. Kingsley, that’s quite a distinctive ring you’re wearing."

A massive rose bloomed wildly on her finger, its untamed beauty breathtaking. Afraid he might catch on, Amelia deliberately flashed her ring and said, "My husband gave it to me."

"Is that so?" Jonas’s gaze flickered.

He wondered, "Could Landon be the person Master favors? Now that’s a problem. Should I listen to Master or my lover?"
