Chapter 140

“Just keep it,” Landon said lightly, a slight smile on his thin lips. “Every Kingsley has their own black card.”

Landon relished the thrill of giving her the ultimate gift, fully enjoying his moment.

Meanwhile, Amelia’s eye gave a slight twitch as she accepted the card, still managing to exchange a few polite words with the bank manager.

Back in the office, Amelia flung the card right at Landon’s face and snapped, “Have you lost your damn mind?”

“Haven’t I been sick all along?” Landon tapped his leg thoughtfully. “Come to think of it, it’s been almost six months now.”

Amelia only stared at him, completely speechless. ‘Fine, since you’re “sick,” you get to be pampered.’

Amelia thought, ‘A black card, huh? Well, it’d be a waste not to use it!’

Amelia picked up the black card from the floor and stuffed it into her wallet.

Her wallet held just four credit cards, but three of them had complimentary perks. ‘Time to kick back and enjoy the good life!’ Amelia thought.

“Alright, time to head home, I guess,” Amelia cheerfully said, tucking her wallet away.

“But you haven’t done any work today!” Landon frowned.

Amelia flashed him a playful grin. “Now that I’m a rich lady, what’s the point of working, Landon?”

Landon was speechless this time.

From then on, Amelia stopped going to the company. Left to toil alone, Landon worked tirelessly to support his family and spoil his wife, never once complaining. Landon thought to himself, “But why isn’t Honey using the card?”

Landon checked his bank notifications yet again, only to feel more disappointed each time.

Landon couldn’t help but ask Brooke, “What’s Amelia been up to lately?”

Brooke replied, “She’s been shopping and having fun.”

“Then why isn’t she using the damn card?” Landon asked.

Brooke replied, “Mrs. Kingsley hardly ever shops. For small purchases, she uses PayPal.”

Landon frowned, thinking to himself, ‘I married a wife who barely spends a dime? So, what’s the point of working so hard to make money anymore?’

“Tell her I don’t have any summer clothes left,” Landon said.

Brooke was momentarily taken aback. ‘But doesn’t Mr. Kingsley get all his clothes custom-made and delivered to his home every month by specialists?’

“Hey, are you still listening, Brooke?” Landon asked impatiently.

Brooke gave a quick nod. “Yes, Sir. I’ll let her know right away.”

Two hours later, Landon finally saw a transaction alert pop up on his phone, and a satisfied smile spread across his face. With a satisfied squint, Landon left work early, eager to get home and check out Amelia’s shopping haul.

At home, Amelia curled up on the terrace swing, hugging her phone with a radiant smile.

“What are you up to?” Landon walked over and asked.

Chapter 140

“Just chatting with my brother,” Amelia replied.

Landon’s face stiffened instantly. “You’ve been seeing Daniel these days?”

Amelia replied casually, “Of course.”

‘So that’s why Honey hasn’t been going to work?’ Landon thought to himself. His jealousy bubbled up inside him.

Landon pouted, “Honey, why are you being nicer to him than to me?”

“Am I?” Amelia replied nonchalantly.

‘I don’t think so,’ Amelia thought. ‘Daniel is a brother I’ve only recently reconnected with. How could he possibly compare to my husband in my heart?’

“Yes!” Landon pouted.

His face darkened. ‘Honey, you don’t love me anymore. I’m so sad!’

Amelia’s lips twitched in amusement as she put down her phone. “Stop imagining things, Landon. Nothing is going on between me and Daniel.”

“And how are you going to prove it?” Landon huffed with a handsome, arrogant pout. His tone was playful…

Amelia smiled and said, “Well, I picked up a bunch of clothes and shoes for you today!”

“And where are they?” Landon finally broke into a smile.

Amelia smiled and said, “I’ve put them all in your closet, of course.”

“I’ll go take a look.” Landon had never worn clothes given to him by a woman in his entire life—well, except for his mother, of course.

Landon thought to himself, ‘Well, not counting Mom in this one.’

The closet doors swung open, revealing that the brand-new outfit had occupied half the space. Light gray, charcoal gray, and navy blue. They were all his favorite colors. And the styles? All were his favorites, too.

Landon was pleased. He gave her a sidelong glance and said, “How do you know what I like?”

“I organized your closet the other day, so I made an educated guess,” Amelia said with a chuckle, shaking her head.

‘I’m kind, but not stupid!’ Amelia thought to herself. ‘As long as I stick to his usual style, there’s no way I’ll go wrong.’

Amelia suddenly had a thought, “Does he even know what I like?”

‘Well, only one way to find out.’

“I thought the housekeeper had done this!” Landon said, flipping through the clothes.

The spacious walk-in closet was split evenly—one half for his menswear, while the other for her womenswear. The more he looked, the more harmonious it seemed.

Amelia rolled her eyes and said, “Ever since we got married, I’ve been the one organizing all your stuff. I’m earning my keep as your wife!”

“I love everything you got me today. Thank you, Honey!” Landon said with a smile.

Then, Amelia asked playfully, “Since I know all your preferences, do you know mine?”

Landon froze for a moment. ‘Shit! I have no clue what she likes,’ Landon thought.

“You don’t know, do you? Not even a little bit?” Amelia’s lips pouted in mock displeasure.

Chapter 140

‘Damn it!’ Landon thought in panic, desperately replaying every moment of their life together. Designer bags, clothes, or shoes—he was never into any of that.

‘Jewelry? Never seen her wear any,’ Landon thought. ‘So what on earth does she like?’

“No one truly gets me,” Amelia sighed dramatically, putting on a heartbroken expression.

Seeing this, Landon panicked and blurted out, “Don’t you love money?”

‘Who doesn’t like money? But does that count?’ Amelia thought to herself. She hadn’t expected him to understand anyway. After getting a second chance, she’d long since let go of any attachment to material possessions.

However, she was quite offended. ‘Seriously? He’s calling me a gold-digger? That’s unfair!’

‘But, do I come off as that materialistic?’ She began feeling a bit indignant.

“Just kidding, just kidding!” Landon quickly explained with an ingratiating smile. “Your tastes are quite simple.”

Amelia huffed, hearing this.

Then, Landon added, “You’re in love with me.” He said with a perfectly straight face, but hearing this, Amelia gave him a side-eye.

“You don’t ask for much. You only want a warm and loving home,” Landon said softly, wheeling closer to take her hand. “You’re different from other women. What you truly value are the things that matter in life.”

“That’s barely acceptable,” Amelia said, shooting Landon a cold, piercing look. “Listen well, I’m not asking for much, just a warm, loving home: If you can’t give me that, or if you ever betray me, I won’t hesitate for a second to walk away.”

“Never! You have my word,” Landon breathed a sigh of relief.

Lesson learned. Landon would never test a woman—their backlash could leave one’s head spinning.

“Honey, go ahead and splurge a little more. I make money so you can enjoy your life.”

Landon wheeled around the room, casually scanning for anything else that might need an upgrade. After all, he was always happy to find another excuse to spoil his wife.

Then, his eyes fell on a few shopping bags. Landon glanced at the bags and asked, “What are those?”

Amelia smiled and said, “Oh, those are for my brother.” Her eyes lit up at the mention of her brother.

‘The DNA test results will be out tomorrow,’ Amelia thought. ‘Daniel said he’d always treat me as his little sister, no matter what.’

Landon bit his lower lip, visibly annoyed. ‘Wait, so her shopping trip today was mainly for Daniel, and I was just an afterthought?’

Landon thought bitterly, ‘If I hadn’t called Brooke, would there have been nothing for me at all?’

Amelia held up a tie and, with a sweet smile, asked, “Honey, what do you think of this one?”

Landon, clearly jealous, shrugged and muttered, “It’s nothing special, Amelia.”

“Just ‘so-so’ to you?” Amelia frowned slightly.

Amelia thought to herself, ‘It’s my first time giving my brother a birthday present. I have to get him something special! An ordinary gift just won’t cut it.’

As she was considering picking out a new gift the next day, Landon asked with a jealous edge, “Does Daniel need another tie?”

“Well, tomorrow is Daniel’s birthday!” Amelia said. “Honestly, I had no idea what to get him, so I just picked up a set of clothes while I was out.”

Chapter 140

“Wait, so this afternoon, you shopped mainly for me and just happened to pick something up for him?” Landon’s eyes narrowed.

Amelia nodded. “Exactly. The Zuckerbergs have everything, but since Daniel just moved to Morava, he probably didn't bring everything with him, so I thought clothes and a tie would make practical gifts."

“You’re right, Honey!” Landon beamed. “That tie is perfect! We’ll give it to him tomorrow.”

Amelia shot him a look. “But just now you said it was ‘nothing special!’ So, which one is your real opinion?”

“I must’ve seen it wrong the first time,” he muttered.

Amelia narrowed her eyes. ‘Is Landon messing with me?’

“Since it’s Daniel’s birthday tomorrow, dinner’s on me!” Landon said.
