Chapter 181 Chapter 187

Aiden’s incense really did the trick. Amelia didn’t feel sick anymore and slept soundly. She didn’t wake up until the plane touched down.

“Amelia, how are you feeling now?” Daniel asked, his voice full of concern.

“I’m fine now,” Amelia replied with a smile. “Thank you for staying with me, Daniel.”

The morning sickness had been awful, and with Aiden, like a wolf, sitting right behind her, she honestly had no idea what she would have done without Daniel by her side.

“Mr. Zuckerberg, see? I told you my stuff is top–notch,” Aiden said, grinning and clearly fishing for compliments.

With that smug, eager–to–be–praised look on his face, it was hard to believe he was actually the CEO of Merry Group.

Daniel shot him a look, but his upbringing still made him say politely, “Thanks.”

“Come over to my place!” Aiden said, trying to sound casual but clearly eager.

Daniel turned him down again. “I’ve booked a hotel. Since we’re here for a vacation, it wouldn’t really be convenient to go to your place. We’ll be on our way.”

“Ms. Meyers, what about you?” Aiden asked, turning to Edith.

“…” Edith hesitated.

She really liked Landen, and honestly, she didn’t want to spend any more time with Daniel.

So, she agreed. “I’ll go see Landen.”

“Okay,” Aiden smiled.

Aiden’s driver had arrived, and once they picked up their luggage, Edith was promptly ushered into the car.

Daniel watched as Edith got into Aiden’s car, fuming inside.

‘How could she just hop into a guy’s car like that? Isn’t she worried Aiden might be up to something?’ he thought.

“Daniel, if you’re worried about Edith, just ask her to stay,” Amelia said.

Daniel snorted. “She can go wherever she wants. I can’t control her.”

Amelia was at a loss for words.

She wondered, “Are all men just this stubborn? ‘Landon was the same way. ‘Back when we first got married, he was all talk, insisting he’d never touch me. But then, he…

Thinking of Landon, Amelia tried calling him again.

Sorry, the number you have dialed is currently turned off.

“Still can’t get through…” Amelia bit her lip, feeling disappointed.

The DNA report had come out, and she really wanted to share it with Landon. But not only couldn’t she reach him, he hadn’t even called or texted her back.

‘Is he really that busy?’ she wondered.

“If you can’t get through, just wait. He’ll call us back when he has signal,” Daniel said with a calm smile, trying to reassure her.

Deep down, she believed Landon was safe.

“Let’s go to the hotel,” Daniel said.

“Okay,” Amelia replied.

Daniel hailed a cab, and they headed to the hotel.

The foreign scenery quickly caught Amelia’s attention. She gazed at the bustling, unfamiliar city and let out a soft sigh. “Daniel, this is my first time abroad.”

Daniel frowned.

‘That bastard Walter, he never even let Amelia travel abroad for fun?’ he fumed inwardly.

“Daniel, do you think Paloma could actually be Kayla?” Amelia asked.

“It’s hard to tell,” Daniel replied.

He’d had his men start looking into Paloma the moment they got off the plane, but there was still no word yet. But if even Landon couldn’t find anything on her, Daniel probably didn’t stand a chance either.

Paloma really was a mystery.

“Stay away from Aiden from now on. That guy’s got nothing good in mind,” Daniel huffed.

Just thinking about Edith being with Aiden made his chest feel all tight and frustrated.

“I know, Daniel,” Amelia said.

Daniel snapped at her. “If you know, then why did you come to Dreicean all by yourself? Good thing I happened to be in Norava.”

She continued softly, “Actually, I was supposed to come with Landon. But he suddenly went off to Ausposh, and then the DNA results turned out like that, so of course I had to come myself."

“Whether Paloma is Kayla or not, at least when Landon comes back, I’ll have something to tell him. I just didn’t expect the morning sickness to hit me this hard. I was totally fine just yesterday.”

Daniel looked at Amelia and couldn’t help but ruffle her hair. He used to think she was acting on impulse, but when listening to her, he realized she’d actually put a lot of thought into it.

Either way, as long as he was there to watch over her, nothing was going to go wrong.

But still, he couldn’t help thinking, ‘Why hasn’t Landon gotten back to us yet?’

Chapter 187

“Daniel…” Amelia said softly.

“It’s okay. I’m here with you,” Daniel replied.

“Thanks, Daniel. How are Maisie and Joanna doing?” Amelia asked.

She was already chatting again, which meant she was really feeling better.

Daniel smiled and kept the conversation going. “They’ve been pretty well behaved lately. I think it’ll stay that way."

“When I first met Maisie, I really couldn’t stand her. I never thought she was just spoiled, not actually a bad person," Amelia said.

“She was just overindulged,” Daniel said, a trace of sadness in his eyes.

Maisie and Edith were both people he felt he owed a lot to.

He really couldn’t just let Maisie stay at the Zuckerberg Estate with Joanna all the time. Maisie needed chances to meet people, make friends, maybe even get married someday.

Soon, they arrived at the hotel while chatting.

Daniel had booked a luxury business suite with three bedrooms and a living room. He’d also arranged a room for Edith.

Amelia saw right through it but didn’t call him out. She just made herself comfortable, waiting for Edith to set up a meeting with Paloma.

“You’re going to sleep again?” Daniel said, half–amused, half–exasperated. “Amelia, you already slept for five hours on the plane.”

“But I’m still sleepy…” Amelia yawned, flopping onto the bed and not wanting to move an inch.

Daniel shook his head. “Man, being pregnant really is no joke.”

“No, it’s actually a blessing,” Amelia replied with a smile. “Daniel, I’ll just rest here at the hotel. You go out and have a look around.”

“Okay,” Daniel said.

Once he made sure Amelia was settled in, he headed out to check out the neighborhood.

Honestly, it wasn’t that he couldn’t sit still, but he just couldn’t stop thinking about Edith. He was so restless, afraid Amelia would notice if he stayed in the hotel.

So he figured he might as well get out and let the new sights and sounds distract him, instead of sitting around stewing over Edith.

“If she wants to stay in the Kyle family, let her. It’s none of my business,” he told himself.

Edith had grown up surrounded by luxury and had seen her fair share of the world.

But even she was stunned when she arrived at the Kyle family estate.

“Mr. Kyle, is this a manor?” she asked, a little awestruck.

“Yeah,” Aiden nodded.

The car drove right through the grounds, gliding past a sprawling cut garden, and that an even tagged there were several pati villas scattered and it can’t help baud and hots pant whole.

“Sort of, but my uncles, aunts, and cousins don't really stay here."

Chapter 187

“Oh!” Edith said, taking it all in.

“So it’s just you and Paloma here most of the time?” she asked.

“Pretty much,” Aiden said.

He flashed her a meaningful smile, as if he was hiding some secret only he knew.

It took them a full ten minutes to drive through the manor before they finally pulled up to the main house.

Landen came running out, acting all cute and affectionate. “Ms. Meyers, what brings you here?”

“Weren’t you supposed to be sick?” Edith crouched down, giving Landen a once–over.

He looked perfectly healthy, cheeks rosy and full of energy–didn’t look sick at all.

“I’m not sick,” Landen said with a grin.

Edith was at a loss for words.

“Mr. Kyle?” she turned to Aiden, completely confused.

“I lied,” Aiden admitted with a smile, not even bothering to make up an excuse.

Edith blinked, totally baffled. “Why?”

“I wanted to pursue Amelia, but I was afraid she’d think I was stalking her,” Aiden admitted, as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

Edith was caught off guard by his bluntness.

“Mr. Kyle? Are you okay? Amelia is married–and pregnant!” she blurted out in disbelief.

“I know,” Aiden replied, unfazed.

“Then why…” Edith was still struggling to process it all.

Aiden’s eyes turned soft and a little dreamy, like he was lost in a memory. “I fell for her even before I ever set foot in Norava…”
