Chapter 218

Hearing that, Gloria was stunned. “You?”

“Before I parted ways with Mr. Landon, I promised him that no matter what, I would protect the Kingsley Group, Aaron, and…”

In truth, what Landon said was: “No matter what, protect Amelia.”

At that, Gloria felt like her brain was about to short-circuit as she tried to process everything. After a moment, she asked hopefully, “Do you mean Landon will come back?”

But Aaron remained silent.

“Aaron, say something!” Gloria urged, desperate for him to tell Amelia that Landon had just been temporarily bewitched and that…

She just wanted Amelia’s perseverance to have a glimmer of hope.

“Mom, don’t push Aaron,” Amelia interjected, stepping in to ease the situation. “I know what Landon meant; if he doesn’t come back, the Kingsley Group is just compensation for our child.”

At that, Gloria’s hope shattered once again. She was too heartbroken to say a word.

“Mom, right now, dealing with Henry and protecting the family business is the most important thing. We can talk about everything else,” Amelia said.

After all, she was pregnant. The long journey and the confrontation with Henry had left her exhausted and sleepy. All she wanted was to go home and get some rest.

“Amelia, I’m sorry…” Gloria sighed.

She then told Aaron to make sure he had a clear handle on the company’s affairs during this period and to personally take Amelia home.

To show her sincerity, Gloria also invited Daniel and his sister to stay at her house.

“There’s no need. We’re only here to help Amelia—nothing else,” Daniel said.

But as Gloria was consumed by guilt, all she could do was do everything she could to be the best mother-in-law possible.

When Amelia finally stepped back into the home she hadn’t seen in ages, her heart was a whirlwind of emotions.

‘Landon, I’m home now. I’m here to watch over the Kingsley Group for you,’ she thought.

‘But what about you? When are you coming home?’ she wondered.

“Amelia, from now on, I will dote on no one but you,” Gloria said sincerely, handing over all of Kingsley Group’s company chops and official seals to Amelia.

She even brought out her shares, along with a transfer agreement—if Amelia just signed her name, she’d instantly become the biggest shareholder in the Kingsley Group.

But Amelia didn’t need any of this.

Whether Landon came back or not, she never intended to take over what belonged to him.

She never wanted for anything anyway.

But as she couldn’t tell Gloria the whole story, she just accepted everything to give her some peace of mind.

“Amelia, you should get some rest. If you need anything, just call me,” Gloria said.

“Okay,” Amelia nodded.

Handing everything over to Amelia, Gloria finally felt a bit of relief.

‘Looks like the big one’s done for—guess it’s time to focus on the little one,’ she thought to herself.

With both her and Amelia’s guidance, she was sure her grandson would make something of himself one day.

Amelia lay on the wedding bed, her exhaustion meter maxed out, but no matter how tired she was, sleep just wouldn’t come.

She glanced around the room, and every little detail from the past came rushing back to her.

Tears streamed down her face.

“Hubby…” Amelia whispered.

Meanwhile, at the Grand Vista Hotel in Lunova, Aiden got furious when he heard that Amelia had gone back to Norava.

He yelled, “Has she lost her mind? Landon doesn’t even want her anymore—so what the hell is she going back for?

“Is she trying to snatch the family fortune? Does she really need the Kingsley family’s money that badly? If she wants money, just tell her to come back—I’ll give her whatever she wants!

“And what’s up with Sandra? How dare she go and mess with Amelia? Butler, I want her dealt with—now!”

But the butler remained silent.

Paloma, on the other hand, sipped her red wine gracefully, watching her brother-in-law lose his mind.

‘How unlucky Sandra is, becoming the target of Aiden’s anger and ending up paying the ultimate price,’ Paloma thought.

But she also thought Monica was just too vicious. She had already stolen Amelia’s husband, and now she was trying to harm the child in her womb.

“Aiden, Sandra was just a pawn. Amelia’s counterattack was too fierce. Monica will definitely make another move,” Paloma reminded Aiden slowly.

Hearing that, Aiden froze, his expression darkening as a storm brewed in his eyes.

He immediately called Monica. “I warned you not to lay a finger on Amelia. Did you forget what I told you?”

“Aiden, I didn’t do anything to her,” Monica replied, sounding innocent.

“Monica, I know exactly what you’re like. Sandra is done for! And if you ever pull something like this again, I’ll make you pay!” Aiden roared.

His handsome features twisted, those charming eyes now brimming with murderous intent.

“Aiden, that was all Sandra’s doing—it had nothing to do with me. Don’t worry, I won’t hurt Amelia,” Monica hurried to explain. “But Aiden, are you really going to let her have someone else’s child?”

“She’s not in good health. She has to carry this baby to term, no matter what. Do you get it?” Aiden snapped.

“Got it, got it…” Monica replied quickly.

“From now on, I don’t want to see a single headline about you or Landon in Lunova ever again!” Aiden warned coldly.

“Yes…” Monica answered meekly.

Paloma looked at Aiden, and for a moment, it almost felt like she was seeing her husband Jonny all over again.

‘The Kyles are so obsessive…’ she thought to herself.

She took a few hearty sips of wine, trying to calm her nerves and keep her cool.

Once Aiden was done arguing, she handed him a glass. “Aiden, do you really care about Amelia that much?”

“Yeah,” Aiden said with a bitter smile, rubbing his forehead. “I don’t even know what’s gotten into me—I’m just totally hung up on her.”

“Then how about we go to Norava and check on her?” Paloma suggested.

At that, Aiden was caught off guard, his pupils shrinking. “Paloma, is that necessary?”

“I want to go. Don’t you?” Paloma swirled the wine in her glass, looking every bit the picture of elegance and grace.

The lace mask hid her face, betraying not a hint of emotion.

But Aiden hesitated.

He wanted to go to Norava to see Amelia, too, but there was no way he could bring Paloma along.

If she started remembering anything, their parents would have his head.

“Paloma, I just want to go home,” Aiden said.

Hearing that, Paloma looked a bit disappointed, but she didn’t insist. “Alright, let’s go home.”

“Mm,” Aiden nodded.

But his eyes glinted with calculation.

He’d coax Paloma back home first, then make his way to Norava.

After all, Landon was never coming back in this lifetime. He had all the time he needed to wait for Amelia to come around.

“Butler, pack my things and book a flight,” Aiden ordered.

At that, the butler accepted the order and hurried off.

Seeing all this, Paloma just smiled.

After finally breaking free from the Kyle family, there was no way she was just going to turn around and go back like nothing happened.

As soon as Aiden looked away, she quietly sent out a message.

Half an hour later, the butler rushed in. “Mr. Kyle, things aren’t looking good…”

“What now?” Aiden said impatiently.

“Mr. Landen snuck off to Norava,” the butler reported.

Hearing that, Aiden was stunned.

“And he’s sick. But Ms. Meyers took him away. She said Miss Paloma should come pick him up herself,” the butler added.

The next day, Aiden brought Paloma with him to Norava.

The familiar atmosphere washed over her, and for a moment, she was lost in a daze.

‘Could this be the place where I grew up?’ she wondered.
