Chapter 225

Landon walked in, his presence icy, as if he’d just stepped off an arctic tundra.

“Honey, what are you doing down here?” Monica asked, her voice laced with concern.

Landon’s face softened, the coldness melting away as he smiled. “It’s dinner time.”

“Oh, right!” Monica said, reaching out to link her arm with his.

But Landon smoothly avoided her touch.

“Honey?” Monica called out, a bit puzzled.

“We have company,” Landon said gently.

Monica relaxed, sticking out her tongue in a playful grin. “You’re such a rule-follower.”

“No rules, no order,” Landon replied as he walked toward the dining room.

The table was packed with dishes, and half of them were Dreiceanian food…

Anyone could tell at a glance that the roasted ribs and chocolate doughnuts were all Amelia’s favorites.

“Honey, what are you doing?” Monica frowned.

“I’m hosting your honored guests. Isn’t that thoughtful?” Landon replied.

“I don’t like it when you do this,” Monica pouted.

“You’re the one who called them honored guests,” Landon replied.

At this, Monica was at a loss for words.

“By the way, who was that man who came by earlier?” Landon asked.

The moment he saw that guy, he felt a sudden, unexplainable urge to tear him apart. He just had this gut feeling–that man was his enemy.

“Oh, that’s my cousin,” Monica replied.

Landon pressed his lips together, his doubts only growing deeper inside.

“Honey, don’t overthink it. My family’s huge. You’ll get to know them all eventually,” Monica said.

“Okay,” Landon nodded.

Then he turned to the butler, “Please invite our honored guests to dinner.”

Monica, however, had no intention of sharing a meal with Amelia. She quickly stopped the butler, “Don’t go.”

“Miss?” the butler said, confused.

“Let our honored guests rest. Don’t disturb them,” Monica said.

“Got it!” the butler answered.

Then he withdrew.

But Landon’s face fell, his mood clearly soured.

“Honey, let’s just eat by ourselves,” Monica suggested.

But Landon just kept his face cold and distant.

“Honey, what’s wrong?” Monica asked.

“This is your home,” Landon said as he stood up from the table, turning to head back to his room.

Monica was startled and hurried after him. “Honey, what’s wrong with you?”

“I’m leaving,” Landon said as he walked into the room and started packing his things.

This was the first time he’d ever made a scene about leaving since he got here.

“Why?” Monica panicked.

“I’m a nobody in this family. Why should I even bother staying?” Landon sneered.

If he could use this as a chance to leave, he’d go to the hospital and see if he could recover his memories.

“Honey, is this just because I wouldn’t let you have the guests join us for dinner?” Monica asked, half-amused and half-exasperated.

Landon kept his face cold, saying nothing.

“Fine, fine. We’ll do it your way, okay?” Monica sighed in defeat.

Only then did Landon’s expression soften.

So Monica instructed the butler to call the guests, and soon enough, Amelia and Aiden came out one after the other.

Amelia looked as proud and icy as ever, while Aiden had a dark look on his face–obviously, he’d just been shut down.

For some reason, Landon suddenly found himself in a much better mood.

“Aiden, you got here fast,” Paloma said lazily, letting out a yawn as she slowly took her seat.

“Paloma, I’m here to take you guys home,” Aiden forced a smile.

“Why?” Paloma arched an eyebrow. “I was planning to crash at the Montgomery place for a few more days.”

“Paloma, Landen needs you to look after him,” Aiden said.

“Isn’t he with you?” Paloma retorted.

She didn’t seem to care at all–she just picked up her fork and knife, totally unbothered and ready to dig in.

At this, Aiden sighed.

Paloma did have a little bit of motherly love for Landen, but not much.

Back at the estate, it was one thing, but out here, she was all about enjoying herself. She didn’t even seem to care if Landen ended up with some emotional baggage!

Amelia spotted her favorite dishes on the table and instantly knew this was Landon’s doing. She happily dug in.

No matter how dazzling the crystal chandelier was, it couldn’t outshine the radiant smile on her face.

Chapter 225

Every little smile or frown from her caught Landon’s attention, and he felt genuinely happy that he’d managed to get her favorite dishes on the table.

When Amelia reached out with her fork to grab some ribs, Landon naturally pulled the plate over and set it right in front of her.

Everyone stared in shock.

Not letting others eat?

Then he started peeling the meat from the ribs with practiced ease.

Seeing this, Monica was delighted, resting her chin on one hand as she waited for him to feed her, her eyes practically overflowing with sweetness.

Amelia threw a glance at her but didn’t say a word.

Her gut told her that Landon was doing this for her.

Landon, the most aloof and distinguished CEO in all of Norava, had only ever done this for one woman in his entire life–and that woman was her.

She couldn’t believe for a second that the meat would be meant for Monica.

Observing for a second, Aiden figured that, in a situation like this, he ought to step up his game, too.

So he leaned over and gently asked Amelia, “Do you want some…?”

“Here, for you!” Landon offered.

He gently placed some meat into Amelia’s bowl before Aiden could finish.

At this, Aiden’s affection froze right on his lips.

Monica’s face even turned a deep shade of purple with anger–she just wanted to smack Amelia into next week!

“Thank you,” Amelia said, her smile bright and genuine.

She happily savored the meat her husband had given her, her smile never fading.

Landon peeled as much as she ate, until the plate was empty.

Watching Amelia’s eyes narrow in satisfaction, which made her look just like a little animal that had eaten its fill, Landon gave a gentle smile and said, “You’re so cute.”

At this, Monica was so furious.

‘Cute? Please, cute doesn’t even hold a candle to sexy!’ she scoffed inwardly.

Tonight, she was dead set on showing him what a real woman could do.

Someone like Amelia? She wasn’t even worth being unforgettable to him.

“She really is adorable,” Paloma said with a grin. “And she’s one tough little mama-to-be.”

“Where’s your husband? Why didn’t he come with you?” Landon asked.

Hearing the question, both Monica and Aiden held their breath, worrying that Amelia might reveal the truth.

But Amelia gave Monica and Aiden a look of pure disdain before saying quietly, “I don’t have a husband. Not anymore.”

Hearing the answer, Landon was at a stunning loss for words.

Chapter 225

He froze in shock, a wave of heartache crashing over him.

Monica and Aiden, on the other hand, both breathed a sigh of relief.

Landon stared at Amelia, his mind spinning: ‘Divorced? Widowed? Or did someone dump her before they even tied the knot?’

“Pfft-” Amelia couldn’t help but laugh out loud after hearing what was going on in his head.

‘This guy’s inner drama is off the charts,’ she thought.

She elegantly wiped her hands with a napkin and said, “My husband and I are separated for now.”

“Oh!” Landon’s eyes were full of contempt.

‘What a scumbag! He even abandoned his pregnant wife!’ he thought.

“It’s not my husband’s fault. We… just ran into some unexpected trouble. He loves me very much, and I love him too,” Amelia said, her voice gentle and her eyes shining like stars, a soft, crescent-eyed smile on her lips.

When she spoke of love, her tone was so tender it sent ripples through Landon’s heart, making his heartstrings tremble.

He was hit with a sudden wave of jealousy.

‘That guy’s got it made. He ditched his wife and kid, and she’s still hung up on him,’ Landon thought bitterly.

“And you and Monica…are you in love too?” Amelia asked softly.

Landon unconsciously furrowed his brows, a look of weary impatience flickering in his eyes.

It was just something he always did whenever he was lost in thought or feeling out of sorts.

‘Love? Nope, not really. I just feel grateful to her for saving my life. Sigh… Who am I, anyway? Where did my past go?’ he wondered, a trace of frustration in his heart.

Seeing Landon’s troubled expression, Amelia finally felt completely at ease.

‘See? That whole proposal video was just going through the motions. He’s never wavered, not even once!’ she thought.

“My husband and I are the most in love,” Monica declared, leaning against Landon and answering for him in a loud voice.

Afraid Amelia might still be holding out hope, she pressed Landon to admit it, too. “Honey, isn’t that right?”

But Landon pressed his lips together tightly, not saying a word.

“Honey! You promised you’d treat me well for the rest of your life!”

Monica pouted, refusing to let it go.

Landon thought for a moment, then said softly, “Yes, I promise–I’ll be good to you for the rest of my life.”
