Chapter 29

Amelia turned her back to the bedroom, facing the night sky. Landon called out to her twice more in his heart, but she remained unresponsive.

He wondered, ‘Is it too far for her to hear my thoughts?’

Landon’s depression deepened. ‘Listening to my thoughts apparently has a distance requirement.’

There was nothing he could do. Amelia couldn’t hear him, and he couldn’t convey all his feelings.

Even if Landon was angry…he could only digest it himself.

With a growing sense of frustration, Landon thought of another thing, ‘Is she worried about how to handle Edwards Group’s affairs tomorrow? Well, it’s just a trivial matter. Why didn’t you ask me about it?’

Curious about what Amelia would do, Landon stayed awake despite his fatigue, waiting for her to return to their room so they could discuss it.

The March night breeze carried the crispness of early spring. There was no moon tonight, and the stars shone particularly bright.

Amelia gazed into the distance, contemplating another plan.

Everything Walter did was to save the teetering Edwards Group, so she decided to fan the flames and let Edwards Group collapse.

Amelia thought, ‘Without Edwards Group, the Edwards family would have no way out. Would Sandra still be eligible to marry into the Foster family? Yes, I’ll do it in this way.’

Her lips curved into a slow, sly smile, her eyes twinkling with mischief. She returned to the bedroom and initiated a conversation with Landon. “You’re still awake. Were you waiting for me to come home?”

‘I wasn’t waiting for anyone,’ Landon would never admit that he had been waiting for her all night.

“But I can’t wait to be home with you,” Amelia said, half-joking.

Landon was quite moved, and his breathing eased.

“Don’t you believe me?” Amelia asked, bringing a warm towel and gently wiping his face, hands, and feet with it.

These were tasks she performed daily after they married. But this time, Landon felt her touch was exceptionally tender.

Landon knew she wouldn’t be so nice to him for no reason.

Landon said in a deep voice in his mind, relishing the moment: ‘Tell me what you want me to do.’

“Lend me some money. I want to purchase the Edwards Group,” Amelia replied.

Landon breathed a sigh of relief. “Is that all?”

“I’ve figured it out, and 100 million dollars would be enough. Don’t worry, I will return the money to you,” Amelia said, carefully wiping the spaces between his fingers with great care.

The hot towel was like a mischievous little creature tickling his palm. It was so itchy. Landon wanted to move to escape the tickling sensation, and he did.

Amelia was instantly dumbfounded. “Landon, did you move?”

‘What?’

Landon himself was also stunned. ‘Did I move?’

Chapter 29

“Yes. You moved. Just now, your fingers moved,” Amelia said, her voice rising with excitement.

Landon hesitated and recalled his actions in his mind. His large, well-defined hand curled up. Although the movement was not obvious, it was enough to drive Amelia wild.

“You moved again.”

Landon was not aware of his own movements but was mainly excited by her reaction.

‘Did I really move?’

He happily curled his fingers again, wanting to experience the sense of movement. But he didn’t feel it.

“Landon, have you ever played the piano before?” Amelia asked.

Landon was taken aback. ‘Why do you say that?’

“When your fingers move, it feels like you’re playing the piano. The index finger, middle finger, and ring finger take turns playing, and it’s quite rhythmic.”

‘I’m knocking on the table.’

Amelia was speechless. “Fine, no matter what you were doing, just move. Landon, congratulations.” Amelia was genuinely happy for him.

Landon laughed, ‘I’ll wake up sooner or later.’

“Then will you lend me the money?” Amelia seized the opportunity to bring up the matter of borrowing money again.

For just 100 million dollars, she could acquire the current Edwards Group. After revitalizing Edwards Group, it would become her personal property.

‘Aren’t Melissa and Sandra concerned that I might claim a portion of the family fortune? I’m not interested in a mere share; I plan on taking it all. Well, it feels great even just thinking about it.’

Amelia was secretly delighted, but she didn’t realize that Landon’s enthusiasm had been doused by cold water.

“What?”

‘To appease me and get funding, you lied and said that I could move?’

Landon’s hope turned to despair and then to anger. ‘So she was lying to me. No wonder my fingers didn’t feel anything. Damn it, she actually used such a trick to get my money.’

‘Won’t she feel guilty since she deceived me, a vegetable who always hopes to be able to speak, move, and walk?’

“No, you really moved. Don’t you feel it yourself?” Amelia was surprised. ‘He knocked on the table with such grace, but was he unaware? Seriously?’

‘What’s going on?’

Landon’s chest heaved violently. He didn’t feel it at all. So he couldn’t curl his fingers consciously. He believed Amelia was lying.

“You really moved.”

Amelia took Landon’s hand and stretched his fingers one by one, observing them repeatedly. “Strange, how could you not feel it?”

Landon was angry and shouted loudly in his heart, ‘Let go.’

Amelia looked at his “peaceful” sleeping face and thought of something.

The next second, Landon felt something soft and filled in his palm, and Landon couldn’t be more shocked.

‘She, what is she doing?”

“Do you feel it?” Amelia asked, blushing as she pressed his large hand against her breast.

Landon’s mouth was dry. ‘Yes…’

“Then do you want to touch it?”

Landon remained silent.

“Press it. It’s soft,” Amelia snorted and flushed.

‘I’ve sacrificed my dignity like this, and it’s impossible for him not to respond.’ Amelia subconsciously exerted force and pressed his hand close to her breast. ‘Why didn’t he move?’

Landon never expected that she would do this to stimulate his peripheral nerves.

The feeling of fullness that he couldn’t hold back strongly stimulated him. He wanted to hold her breast.

“Ah,” Amelia suddenly screamed, as if she had been hit by an electric current, and she waved his hand away hard. He pinched her breast.

“Landon, you are shameless.” Amelia blushed.

Since he pinched her so hard, he was probably pretending not to feel anything and deliberately taking advantage of her. Landon also blushed and pulled his hand away.

He really… pinched her breast and felt it was soft and full. The sense of force from his fingertips and the softness of her breast still lingered in his palm. It was clear and real.

Landon felt like he was in a dream. ‘I can move my hand.’

“Landon, raise your hand again,” Amelia shouted, joy making her forget her shyness. She only stared at his hand.

Landon curled his fingers into a fist. He was also very excited and urgently asked for confirmation. ‘I’m clenching it. Do you see it?”

“I saw it. I saw it.” Amelia covered his fist with her fair hand. “Try raising your hand.”

Landon slowly gathered strength and raised his hand…

‘Get up. Why isn’t it moving?’

Landon tried several times in a row but couldn’t lift his hand.

No matter how strong his will was, he couldn’t control the nerves of the limbs that had lost their responsiveness.

He was so depressed that he gave up. “I won’t try anymore.”

“Landon, don’t give up. Your condition has surpassed the typical characteristics of a vegetative state. It’s as if you’ve simply been asleep for too long, and your body is responding sluggishly…”

Amelia suddenly shut her mouth, a thought crossing her mind, ‘Do I need to resort to seduction to get a reaction from you?’
