“Because she needed money,” Landon chuckled. “Guess what happened in the last couple of days while we were away?”
Amelia couldn’t come up with anything.
Sandra was all about partying and living it up, and she had no skills when it came to making money. Now that the Edwards family had fallen and the Foster family wanted nothing to do with her, she had no choice but to hold on to whatever shares she had left to get by.
“She bit off Zachary’s penis,” Landon revealed.
Amelia was stunned to her core.
It wasn’t exactly the best time to talk about this, as they were still at the cemetery, but Amelia’s curiosity got the best of her. It helped her forget about her pain momentarily, and she followed Landon out of the cemetery.
Once they were in the car, Amelia couldn’t wait to ask, “What’s the story? You’ve got to tell me.”
“Well, long story short, Sandra had found out that Zachary made her lose her child, and she’d gotten furious. Then, she’d just happened to catch him cheating with Elizabeth, which really pushed her over the edge. She used her charms to get him back to her place, and then… Well, she bit him,” Landon explained.
As a man, he couldn’t help but find the whole thing hilarious.
Amelia laughed and gave him a teasing glance. “You’d better be careful next time.”
“Be careful about what?” Landon asked knowingly while Aaron and the driver exchanged glances, thinking that Landon had changed.
However, Amelia fell for it. “Be careful. Someone might bite off your penis. By then, you’ll become a sad and lonely man forever.”
“Will you?” Landon stared at Amelia intensely.
Amelia finally realized what she’d said and blushed. “I…I would never. We’re not really married, so we don’t do those things. I have no reason to hurt you.”
“Then I’m not worried,” Landon shrugged.
“Men can bite too,” Amelia reminded him with a “kind” smile.
The car halted with a squeak. The driver was so stunned he nearly swerved off the road. He had to slam the brakes twice to steady the car.
Aaron yanked on his seatbelt, feeling both shocked and thrilled. He wondered if it was appropriate for them to listen to the lovers‘ chat.
“Amelia, what kind of nonsense is that?” Landon gritted his teeth in embarrassment. He was straight, unlike those two from Henry’s family. There was no way he’d let a man touch his penis.
“Calm down. I understand,” Amelia quickly reassured him.
Her reassurance only riled Landon up more.
Aaron was trying so hard to hold back his laughter that he almost injured himself. He glanced at Landon’s tensed face in the rearview mirror and, in the interest of future peace, stepped in to explain, “Ms. Kingsley, Mr. Kingsley is a very chaste man and hasn’t lost his virginity yet.”
Amelia was so stunned she couldn’t even close her mouth.
But Landon’s face was bright red as he reprimanded, “Aaron, shut up.”
“Okay,” Aaron said, miming and zipping his mouth shut.
Amelia stared at Landon, still struggling to believe he was a virgin. Now the question was, if he was still a virgin, how did someone end up pregnant with his child?
“Hey, what’s on your mind?” Landon asked in a low voice as he pinched her chin.
“No, it’s nothing.” Amelia’s ears turned bright red with embarrassment. She didn’t dare admit that she was questioning his sexual orientation.
Landon’s frustration grew at her reaction. He gritted his teeth and firmly declared, “First of all, I don’t like men. Secondly, you’re the only woman I’ve ever slept with.”
“Ahem, we haven’t actually… slept together,” Amelia quickly corrected him.
There were other people in the car, and she was worried that Landon’s words might cause misunderstandings.
“Chatting under the covers counts too,” Landon said with confidence.
To him, hugging and touching each other were basically the same thing as making love. They were just missing that final step anyway.
Amelia’s face turned bright red as she wondered, ‘Did he misunderstand what ‘sleeping together‘ means? Doesn’t he already have a child? He should get it.‘
“So, do you think we should do something else?” Landon asked, watching her blush with a thoughtful look.
“No, no, no,” Amelia shook her head vigorously.
“Then why are you blushing?” Landon asked again.
“Well, I was just wondering… how did your child come ab…”
The car suddenly went quiet.
“…about?”
Aaron glanced at them quietly, then quickly turned back to face the front. He finally understood the reason why the two were always at it, but he couldn’t fathom who told Amelia that Landon had a child.
“Well, if you don’t want to talk about it, that’s fine. I understand,” Amelia said.
“I don’t have any kids,” Landon said firmly.
Amelia froze, her mouth hanging open in shock.
“Who told you I had a kid?” Landon snorted. “If I had a child, do you really think I’d be paying you two million dollars a day?”
“Oh, right.” Amelia’s mind suddenly cleared, and a smile of relief spread across her face. It turned out she’d misunderstood him.
Meanwhile, in Norava, Zachary lay in the hospital, devoid of any will to live. Pamela sat at his bedside, her eyes red from crying, “Sandra, that little bitch, actually dared to hurt you. I won’t let her off the hook.”
“Mom, the doctor said I’ll be fine,” Zachary said weakly, trying to comfort his mother while also fooling himself with false hope.
The doctor’s actual words were, “He was brought in quickly, and we managed to treat him in time, but how much he would recover remains uncertain. But one thing for sure is that he will never be as strong as before anymore.”
In other words, Zachary would never feel as much as a man anymore. He didn’t know how he could continue living.
“Zachary, you should’ve never gone after her. She’s worse than Amelia,” Pamela angrily scolded. “At least Amelia never thought about ruining you.”
Zachary smiled bitterly, “But she made me lose the right to inherit the Foster family’s wealth.”
Pamela stopped and, in utter frustration, poked Zachary’s forehead. “Look at you. Your whole life is ruined by the two Edwards sisters.”
With Matthew’s return, Zachary had lost his inheritance. His happiness as a man was gone, too, and now, his future was looking grim.
“Mom, where’s Sandra?” Zachary gritted his teeth. “I’m sending her to prison for assault.”
“We didn’t catch her. She escaped,” Pamela said, her anger boiling over. “She sold off all her properties and shares and then disappeared with the money.”
“So fast?” Zachary was shocked. “No, the house and the shop can’t be converted into cash that quickly.”
“That’s how it is. The police are looking for her now,” Pamela sighed. “But I think she’s probably fled abroad.”
The assault between lovers wasn’t something that would warrant international police intervention. Maybe in this lifetime, they’d never be able to punish Sandra. How frustrating!
Zachary asked, “What about the shares? She has millions of dollars‘ worth of Edwards Group’s shares. Who would dare bear the risk and take them all in?”
“The Kingsley family bought all the shares,” Pamela explained, leaving Zachary in shock and only regaining his composure after some time.
If it was the Kingsley family, that meant it was Amelia’s doing. She’d finally taken control over Edwards Group, while Zachary lost everything.
Zachary finally realized that after losing Amelia, his life started spiraling downward, and now, he was in a total mess. He regretted falling for Sandra’s tricks, which in the end made him lose his treasure in exchange for a piece of crap.
“Zachary, you should rest,” Pamela said worriedly.
Zachary closed his eyes in defeat and groaned weakly, “It hurts. It really hurts.”
Pamela was at a loss. “Zachary, it’s normal to feel pain after the anesthesia wears off. It means your nerves are still active. It’s a good sign. Just bear with it.”
“Mom, Sandra couldn’t have done all of this alone. Someone must have helped her,” Zachary deduced.
“Who do you suspect?” she asked.
“Amelia,” Zachary said with certainty.
