Chapter 100
Henryโs eyes widened in disbelief. He thought, โHow could I, as an elder, apologize to a junior? Especially not in front of so many people. Isnโt that the same as dragging my reputation through the mud?โ
โYou donโt want to?โ Landon raised an eyebrow coldly, and nodded his head slightly to Amelia. โIโm sorry.โ
A powerful presence sent a chill down Henryโs spine. Gritting his teeth, Henry bowed his head.
โLandon is almost fully recovered now. From now on, the company will be managed by the two of us, so you donโt need to worry anymore,โ Amelia said. Too ashamed to stay, Henry turned and stormed out.
The shareholders and executives, seeing Landon had returned, smiled warmly. โCongratulations on your recovery, Mr. Kingsley,โ many people said. โMr. Kingsley, weโve missed you during your time away.โ Their heartfelt enthusiasm filled Landon with appreciation. He quietly took Ameliaโs hand and whispered, โYou won the bet. Are you happy?โ
โYes,โ Amelia replied, her eyes lighting up with a smile. Winning her very first bet felt incredibly satisfying. It seemed like she was falling in love with the role of a powerful CEO.
โIโm tired. Letโs talk later,โ Landon said.
โOkay.โ Amelia stood and addressed the room, โEveryone, Landonโs recovery is still ongoing. Letโs wrap up todayโs meeting here.โ
Someone replied, โOf course. Mr. Kingsley, please rest well.โ Many people echoed, โWishing Mr. Kingsley a full recovery soon.โ
Amelia wheeled Landon back to the CEOโs office, where the secretaries couldnโt help but offer their well-wishes. Once the office door was closed, she quickly called out, โDr. Harrington, please take a look at him.โ
โAmelia, thereโs no need,โ Wesley laughed. โLandonโs doing just fine. Today, I finally got to see you in action. Youโre truly a woman of great capability.โ
Amelia blushed awkwardly, smiling. โIโm not that impressive. Itโs all thanks to Landonโs support behind the scenes.โ
โEveryone says youโre decisive and exceptionally capable,โ Wesley teased.
Amelia glanced at Landon and thought, โAm I really that capable?โ
โYouโre very impressive,โ Landon nodded. โBut you need to change how you address me.โ
โHow?โ Amelia was puzzled.
Landon continued, โDonโt call me by my full name in public anymore. From now on, youโll call me honey.โ
Wesley burst out laughing. โExactly. Amelia, youโd better pay attention.โ
Amelia froze, a shy blush spreading across her face. โThatโs not appropriate.โ
โIโve been calling you honey,โ Landon teased.
โYou donโt have to call me that,โ Amelia replied, frowning slightly. She didnโt force him to do anything. Besides, Landon hadnโt exactly gotten her permission to call her that in front of everyone.
โWasnโt it you who started it?โ Landon smirked. โGrandma always hears you calling me so sweetly when she visits.โ
Ameliaโs face turned bright red. She stammered, โThat wasโฆ because I had no other choice.โ
โWell, the situation isnโt much better now,โ Landon continued. โMy legs still arenโt fully recovered, and they wonโt let this slide.โ
Ameliaโs heart skipped a beat. โWhat should we do?โ
โHoney, youโll need to continue to work at the company,โ Landon said.
โIsnโt that unnecessary?โ Amelia sighed, clearly unenthusiastic. She thought, โItโs his companyโhe can manage it just fine on his own. Why do I need to get involved?โ
โYou know, I get tired easily and need more rest,โ Landon added, coughing lightly for emphasis.
Wesley chuckled, โAmelia, when Landonโs fully recovered, itโll be up to you.โ
โโฆโ Amelia was at a loss for words. She thought, โIโm no miracle workerโwhy is all this pressure being placed on me?โ
โMr. Kingsley, the rest area is ready,โ Aaron said.
โHoney, continue working,โ Landon waved, heading to rest.
โAmelia, you can do this. Weโre all rooting for you,โ Wesley said as he left.
Speechless, Amelia looked at the pile of work on her desk and felt a headache coming on. With a deep sigh, she resigned herself to getting started.
Meanwhile, Landon was comfortably lying in the CEOโs officeโs rest area, scrolling through his phone. Aaron murmured, โMr. Kingsley, is it really okay to have Mrs. Kingsley work like this?โ
โFor two million dollars a dayโwho wouldnโt like this kind of work?โ Landon replied flatly.
โGood point,โ Aaron said and thought to himself, โGive me two million dollars a day, and my whole family is at your service.โ
โHave they caught the person who killed Zachary?โ Landon asked.
โNot yet. But the Foster family has already taken Zacharyโs body back. The police have started investigating based on the type of gun used by the killer.โ
โWe need them to move faster. William canโt die.โ Landon narrowed his eyes. He thought, โWhat does William know that is worth Zachary being silenced?โ
โMr. Kingsley, as you instructed, four more bodyguards have been assigned to protect Mrs. Kingsley in secret. However, Pamelaโs emotions are unstable, and she might cause trouble again.โ
โTell Matthew to control Pamela. If he canโt even handle this, then he has no business running the Foster family,โ Landon snorted coldly. Aaron nodded in understanding and immediately sent a message to Matthew.
Landon unlocked his phone and started his workโinforming the family businesses and major clients that he was back at the company and doing some relationship management through words.
Amelia was too young, with little experience and work knowledge. Under his guidance, the company hadnโt suffered losses, but the profits were too small, and that wasnโt a long-term solution.
Right now, there were countless undercurrents, waiting to take over Kingsley Groupโs clients. Landon had to take action. And Patrick, that freak, was a threat that couldnโt be ignored.
Landonโs concerns proved to be right. At that moment, Patrick had parked his car not far from Kingsley Villa, gritting his teeth as he stared at the villa in front of him.
After receiving a call from Henry, Patrick rushed over immediately, hoping to kill Landon while he was still recovering. But Landon wasnโt home. He had gone to the company early, keeping it a secret from everyone.
Patrick, frustrated, asked Henry on the phone, โDad, is he really up and talking?โ
โHeโs energetic. Except for his legs, heโs just like before,โ Henry said angrily. โPatrick, weโve been fooled by him and Amelia.โ
โSuch a great schemeโฆโ Patrick let out a cold, eerie laugh that sent shivers down the spine.
Henry snapped, โItโs all Ameliaโs fault. If she hadnโt taken Landon out of the hospital, we would have succeeded by now.โ
โDad, whatโs the point of blaming a woman? Our real opponent is Landon,โ Patrick said.
โAre you still defending Amelia?โ Henry exclaimed in surprise. โLet me tell you, Amelia is sharp. The tricks you used on her? She probably saw right through them.โ
Patrick thought, โTricks? Not entirely. Amelia has successfully awakened my desire to conquer.โ
โDad, no one is allowed to hurt Amelia without my permission. As for Landon, he must die.โ Patrick gripped the steering wheel tightly, so furious that he could almost drive into the villa. But Landon wasnโt home. What was the point of crashing into the house?
โOf course. If he doesnโt die, weโll all have to live under his thumb. This needs careful planning. Come back and discuss it.โ
โNo need to discuss, I have a plan.โ Patrick gave a sinister smile, turned the steering wheel, and headed to Kingsley Group. If he couldnโt handle things in the shadows, heโd bring them into the open.
