Chapter 128
โNonsense! How dare you slander Patrick with your sterility?โ Cynthia snatched an ashtray to hurt Amelia, but she was intimidated by Brookeโs warning.
โPatrick poisoned me, so I canโt bear children anymore,โ Amelia explained.
Cynthia snapped, โImpossible! Patrick is a good boy, and he wonโt do such a terrible thing.โ
โWhy donโt you ask him yourself?โ Amelia advised. She was anxious to alarm Cynthia of Patrickโs disappearance.
Cynthia became evasive. โIt is pointless. I know my son well.โ
โDo you?โ Amelia chuckled. How close Cynthia and Patrick were! She didnโt know that he had been missing for days.
Suddenly, Cynthia had a bad feeling. Did something bad happen to Patrick?
โAmelia, you canโt slander Patrick even if you are Landonโs wife,โ Donna criticized Amelia with a long face.
โOn my life, I didnโt lie,โ Amelia vowed.
Donnaโs face darkened. โIs Patrick really the reason for Ameliaโs sterility? Screw him! He should know where to stop,โ Donna thought indignantly.
โGloria took me to see a lot of doctors recently. Both she and I are in distress. We didnโt know how to break the sad news to you, Donna,โ Amelia sighed with sadness all over her face.
Donnaโs expression became complex. โIt is probably true since Gloria sides with her. Alas, she was poisoned by Patrick. I canโt kick her away now,โ Donna thought.
โAny hope for a full recovery?โ Donna asked hesitantly.
Amelia shook her head sadly. โWe havenโt found the right doctor yet.โ
โDonโt give up. There must be a way out, given the advanced technology nowadays. Patrick is a good boy, so there must be a misunderstanding. Letโs talk things over after Patrick comes home,โ Donna said.
Deep down, she planned to kick Amelia away later if Amelia couldnโt be cured. For the time being, her priority was Patrickโs safety.
โI wonโt. You have my word.โ Amelia personally made a glass of orange juice for Donna.
Donna took the juice, sipped it, and began a small talk with Amelia. Out of the corner of her eye, she observed Cynthia.
Cynthia tried to reach Patrick with her back to Amelia and Donna, but he didnโt answer her calls or respond to her messages.
A wave of panic washed over her. She rang Henry and asked, โHave you ever seen Patrick? I canโt reach him.โ
โIsnโt it common? He must be fooling around with his friends.โ Henry impatiently hung up the phone because he was having sex with Elizabeth.
Restless, Cynthia called Patrickโs friends, including Jonas, and they replied that they couldnโt reach Patrick in the past few days.
She was finally convinced that Patrick was in trouble. โDonna, Patrick has disappeared,โ she shouted in horror.
Donna asked with a frown, โWhat happened?โ
โI donโt knowโฆโ With a jerk, Cynthia shifted her gaze to Amelia. โIt is you! You hid Patrick, didnโt you?โ
โCynthia, why should I do that?โ Amelia shot back.
โYouโฆโ Cynthiaโs voice trailed off. โPatrick hurt Amelia, so Landon got back at him,โ Cynthia thought, but she couldnโt speak her mind. Amelia became sterile, and Landon might kill Patrick for that.
โDonnaโฆโ Cynthia quickly turned to Donna for help.
Elderly, Donna had seen the world. She asked, โAmelia, do you know where Patrick is?โ
โI donโt.โ Amelia shook her head while she added, โI dare you to ask Landon the same question.โ
With a worried look, Donna said, โAmelia, we are family. Just tell us what you know. Patrick is my eldest grandson, so I wonโt let anyone hurt him.โ She was partial to Patrick.
โIโm sorry, Donna. I donโt know where he is,โ Amelia responded.
โDonna, Patrick must be in their handsโฆโ Cynthia pleaded desperately.
Donna rolled her eyes at Cynthia and thought, โDonโt jump to conclusions like that? Give me the evidence!โ After a moment of silence, she said, โLetโs go home.โ
โPatrickโฆโ Cynthia argued.
โHe wonโt die that easily!โ
โDonna, he is your favorite grandsonโฆโ Cynthia pleaded on her knees, and her voice choked with tears.
It was true that Patrick was Donnaโs favorite grandson. Now that he was detained by Landon, Donna couldnโt get him back. She decided to plead with Landon later.
After one deep glance at Amelia, she said meaningfully, โHe will come home as long as he is still alive. Why are you shouting? Nobody has the guts to hurt my dear grandson.โ
โDonna, he must be suffering!โ Cynthia said.
โNot a bad lesson for him.โ
โButโฆโ
โGo home!โ Donna ordered.
Submissive, Cynthia shot Amelia a venomous glare before she reluctantly helped Donna away.
Amelia was glad that Cynthia would be distracted by the search for Patrick and couldnโt cause trouble for her within a short time.
Then, it pained her to think of her sterility. Could Landonโs love last forever without prejudice?
After the meeting, Landon heard from his secretary about Donnaโs visit. He hurried into Ameliaโs office while calling, โHoneyโฆโ
โYes?โ Sitting behind the desk, Amelia raised her head and looked calm.
After a sigh of relief, Landon asked, โDid Grandma come?โ
Amelia gave a sly smile. โYes, she came for my sterility. I gave them a task.โ
Landon asked, โWhat is it?โ
โTo look for Patrick!โ
โWell done!โ Landon laughed loudly. He sincerely wished Amelia to confront each troublemaker with such calmness.
Amelia looked at Landon and was moved. His attitude was the source of her confidence.
โDonna, wonโt you help us?โ On the way home, Cynthia shed tears in the car.
Donna snapped, โIf I donโt, can you live in a big house? Get dividends from the Kingsley Group?โ
โPatrickโฆโ
โLook for him, and we will find him anyway.โ
โWhat if we canโt?โ
โRelax.โ Donna sneered. โAmelia canโt bear children. She must be under more pressure than we are.โ
โSoโฆโ
โIdiot!โ Donna spat. โWonโt Patrick be brought home if we send word that we know how to cure Amelia?โ
After a brief excitement, Cynthia asked with worry, โHow?โ
โWith a lie.โ
